  1. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) Almost every religion, perhaps, but not all of them. The central tenet of Unitarian Universalism is the support of each individual's search for truth and meaning in concepts of deity and that ranges from a Christian deity to polytheism to atheism and everything in between. It's nice that there s a group out there that believes that nobody's Imaginary Best Buddy In the Sky is any better than anybody else's. That is not really saying anything meaningful. It is just talking in circles. That is just saying believe in something. It is just a way of getting around thinking and avoiding the issues. It is like saying truth is relative. Well if all truth is relative, then by definition, that statement cannot be applied to everyone, and it cannot say anything meaningful. You can not even say a statement like "murder is wrong" if truth is relative. If I say it is fine and you say it is not, how can there be any agreement? To add to this example, what if my personal religion, as an extreme example, is to go out and either convert all other people to my religion or kill them because they are just in the way of the "truth". What would be said of that?
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 02:36 PM) Well, with all due respect to the pope, he can go screw himself. We should do our best to be tolerant and respectful of all religions (outside of the violent extremists of course), and to not only say screw that but ALSO be arrogant enough to say your church is the only true church is asinine. How about you actually show some effort to get the child molestors away and clean your* own closet before you go and try and clean others, asshole? Somewhere up there, Jesus is looking down and shaking his head at this guy. One thing that people forget is that EVERY religion has its own claims to exclusivity. There is always a point where one religion says, we are right and you are wrong. Otherwise, they would not be saying anything at all about who we are, where we are going, or how to get there.

I enjoyed the books, and was a fan of the movies until the last one came out. I thought that one was just poorly done. There was just too much jumping around with the story (still bought the DVD though).
  5. Just saw it. Absolutely hilarious!
  6. Where is that link to the player's current contract status?

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 08:23 PM) If the Sox give in to MB for a full no trade, then next year they will have to give in to Garland, and in the future all Sox starters will want the NTC...Then you get a staff with 3-4 starters with NTC and the Sox would be screwed... MB is clearly in a different category than Garland and any other Sox pitcher. They have already shown that they think so by offering him a 4-year deal.

The Sox really need to give in to the NTC. From most of the fan's perspective that I have seen and most of the analysts, he is giving the Sox too good of a deal. By not doing this, they are finding a very big way to alienate fans.
  9. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 07:41 PM) Wow, it will be a sad loss if we lose with a DH while they bat their pitcher. They got a 3-run head start before that happened though.
  10. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 01:39 PM) I'm just guessing, but I think he's suggesting while Fields bat might be ready for the majors, his glove is not. I'll bet that we get an absolute crapload of complaints about Fields' glove this year because we are all used to a defensive 3rd baseman of Crede's caliber. Fields just cannot do that. Who really can?
  11. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) We Need Joe Crede Next Year... and we need him healthy. Yep, time to give up on Fields. He has played how many seasons so far? Clearly, he has established a bad track record
  12. I can see the correct thing to do with my 20/20 past vision goggles!! Anyone else want to try them on?
  13. I love seeing the brooms out!
  14. QUOTE(Tannerfan @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) We need to play more bad teams. Haven't we been doing that recently?
  15. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:43 PM) this is typical whitesox bull. We overrate our players and the rest of baseball knows it. I think that the truth is somewhere in the middle. KW and Co. will talk things up like crazy. The other teams will talk things down like crazy. They have opposing objectives for how these players should be viewed, and they are both talking in exactly that expected way.
  16. QUOTE(GOD @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) remember when these game threads used to have 30 pages every game. Fair-weather fans People are a bit more interested in next year and the future right now than games. Take the look at the Buehrle thread as an example
  17. Congrats Frank!
  18. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:05 AM) Awesome! What a load of crap. Are there actually any US citizens in favor of this bill?

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 10:38 AM) And the Score is talking about the Bears. Typical. ^^^^This is what tells me that it is probably not true, or at least, not as close to being done as reported. They would still be talking about it if it was.
  20. vandy125 replied to DBAHO's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'll wait for it to actually happen before I start getting excited. This may be just another way to increase his value for trades.
  21. QUOTE(Omar Minaya @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 03:30 AM) 1) tried to say that the white sox starters were better than the mets - proven wrong You are completely wrong if you think that this is "proven". As has been shown you are comparing the NL to the AL. The AL is much tougher. The general consensus is to add 1.00 ERA to the NL for a comparison. So, how do those numbers look to you? Also, I would much rather get 2 prospects then someone with Milledges "character".
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 08:23 PM) So its actually true that our bullpen has a worse ERA than the DRays pen? Good lord Is there any bullpen with a worse ERA the ours?
  23. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:21 PM) +1 His D has been unspectacular, but adequate. He's living in the defensive shadow of Crede and Ventura, which doesn't help. I think he'll be fine in the long run. Yep, the D has been fine, but we are all used to watching Crede over there. What rookie is not going to look bad compared to Crede on D?
