  1. I like the trade with Arizona more. Trading from a position of relative strength and a guy who's best attribute is his age. The OF needed to be addressed on some level.

Feel like we could have gotten more for Santos. But also hard to complain given Sox got him for nothing and his potential health concerns. Still like both trades overall for the Sox

There is no scenario in which this trade doesn't hurt Chris Getz' efforts to move Cease, and possibly being forced to keep him until July could end up being a disaster because of the risk involved.

I don't see much of any risk involved. The Sox got a comparable package for Lucas Giolito this past deadline. Even if Cease pitches poorly the next 1.5 years (doubtful), they probably wouldn't get too much worse value here, unless you really value a draft oick.

Frank (and countless other great hitters) didn't try to pound the ball into the ground and he didn't manufacture a swing to HIT THE BALL IN THE AIR.  He didn't collapse his backside or try to catch the ball out front.  He hit the bottom of the baseball and backspun (backspinned?)  it in the air.  It's becoming a lost art for some reason because it's "easier" for these idiots to teach an artificial swing to HIT THE BALL IN THE AIR! and it's ruining a generation of hitters.

For the record I didn't say he did do that. I meant he could do that and still hit for power. My point was that Frank Thomas is a very powerful man.

  4. I love Bridgeport and hope they stay, but it's not exactly like the neighborhood has rolled out the red carpet for the Sox or anything. Business development certainly has been miniscule for what you'd expect around a major stadium. The Sox don't owe them anything.

He claims he didn't knowingly use steroids, but was once provided a cream by Bonds to recover from a knee injury.

Ortiz waltzing in has kinda ruined the sanctity of the Hall regarding questionable steroid use for me. Blatant use? Sure.

Ortiz being in while being on the 2003 list by his own admission while holding out other steroid guys is insanity. There's more evidence against him than say Roger Clemens or the same as Sosa.

We’re close to the Manny Machado 300 page threshold. 😆

Manny thread was 884 pages. Still awhile to go. Also multiple threads on that front so probably well over 1000. Either way this thread is somehow way worse than that one.
