Considering Getz has said he wants better defensive players and wants to get more athletic.. 2 things Eloy is not, I absolutely believe he's getting dealt to the highest bidder.

The they're is the other teams though.  Those other teams aren't interested.  When he says has to make sense for both sides, it says to me the Sox, despite being desperate to get rid of him, can't even find a low bid.

Yeah, virtually guaranteed we'll be watching Bummer in high-leverage situations on TV next October, listening to how he "just never got traction with the White Sox, but has been a revelation here in Atlanta with a chance to perform on the big stage..."

Nah it's mental with him. He will fail perhaps even harder

  3. This is a hell of a trade on paper. Pretty incredible they got 5 players for Bummer, at least 3 of them who could provide some value. Guess we shall see with Soroka though. Shuster seems like the true headliner; imagine he slots into the rotation right away.

  4. My pick is a definite longshot that I mentioned in the other thread. Brian Barnhart who calls Illini football and basketball. My favorite PBP guy in all of sports. Used to do Angels games years. Has turned down other MLB work to remain in Champaign. He is a Sox fan though so maybe he'd consider, not that he'd ever be asked because he's not in the Jerry-sphere to begin with.

  5. Would really like to see if they can pull Brian Barnhart from Champaign. He's my absolute favorite PBP guy in all of sports and used to do Angels games years before the Illini. He's turned down other MLB jobs to remain there, but Sox would obviously be a closer pull. He's a Sox fan too.

But didn't the Sox tell him to get his other contract/contracts taken care of last year and then come back to the Sox and talk. It's the fault of the Sox!!

And did he do that? Seems to me he just took on even more responsibility. Olympic year too he'll probably miss like all of July.

  7. Tim posted a nice tribute of his time here on his instragram. Luis Robert responded that he's his twin which Anderson responded that he loves him as a brother. Never got the impression at all that Luis, and TA alongside Hendriks and Giolito were ever the issues in the clubhouse but I know this board has made up their mind differently.

He WAS used in marketing campaigns. That's ancient history now. Why ? Because now his whole life is a mess. Won't be the 1st time someone marketed a good cool hip player whose world suddenly collapsed because he couldn't handle fame and it won't be the last.

As a professional athlete your career is fleetingly short unless you keep your eyes on the brass ring. He isn't a movie star or musician alcoholic pill popper going through marriage after marriage and still able to get chance after chance because you go through rehab and straighten out everything. Young and old alike succumb to the pressures of fame. At this point I'd be happy to see him turn his life around. I certainly don't want to see him become a tragedy like we see so often in the music and movie industry. It was time to move on.

Even now the Sox just posted a 2 minute video with him. Still marketing the hell out of his time here. Did the same with Liam; him being a little more understandable that they let him go.

I don't like picking the low hanging fruit here, But you think the baby mama drama and flipping off fans means nothing and apparently by the response  in "likes" you got others agree. But it couldn't be farther from the truth.

If isolated, those things mean nothing IF he continued to play well. However all the drama, the fight, all coincided with terrible baseball. Tim's whole world has fallen apart and we're supposed to think all the drama didn't affect his play ?

Everything has been a disaster with him. I said I'd decline his option a couple of weeks ago. This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

Let's pay a player falling apart at the seams $14M just to see if he can get a new head, a new body and suddenly there's a happily ever after ? Poor Tim is just misunderstood.

You scolded Lipman for being in a Soxtalk world but you're in some fantasy world where TA is somehow marketable and worth $14M. It's preposterous.

Like I said when I said to decline his option.  Let's see what the rest of baseball is willing to pay him now. You'll get your answer then about how good and marketable he is. I think he'll be lucky to get 2 years $20M. I expect less than that. Feel free to save this for when he signs with someone else.

He's marketable because he's used in marketing campaigns. I didn't decide that, personally. Crying over flipping off opponent fans will never not be funny to me, still. Next were going to hear about how that man doesn't play the game right. Jose Ramirez probably did more damage to the whole marketable part than anything, but not sure if that's true.

Just bring a positive defensive player. If you bring back TA for cheaper, move him to 2B.

Probably 0 chance of happening I realize but I'd love to explore a lower aav over 3 years with the plan to move him to 2b after a year. 27-30 million but that's likely non-starter.

Depends on your definition of "marketable."

Guys flips off fans, appears to lose concentration of the field, has embarrassing off the field headlines and can't stay healthy.

If that's your definition of "marketability" I admire you.

Nobody gives a f*** about athletes baby mama drama. I can assure you of that. Flipping off opponent fans is still legitimately hilarious no matter how many times this website tries to make it a thing. Get out of the soxtalk bubble.

    That's 150 innings we won't get back....

I want him back. Much ado about lack of leadership in the bullpen early last year. This dude then comes in and pitches in every game the last 2 months. At least has to be difficult for Kopech to complain about a hangnail when he turns around and sees Shaw behind him.
