  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 03:36 AM) What the f*** are you talking about? You always always always try and keep the ball in the infield. It's one of the most basic things in baseball. Its not so much about keeping the ball in the infield as it is trying to make a play you can't make when another infielder can make that play.
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 03:34 AM) From the time a kid steps onto a ballfield he is taught knock it down, get in front of the ball, don't let the ball get by you. It's driven into your brain year after year. Yet, some of you are saying that Crede was wrong for doing exactly that. No. You're wrong. Obviously going to be differing opinions on this, but as a player this is an incorrect play, bottom line, as a fan it might seem correct. Just fed up with Crede is all, I would be happy to see a change, we could do alot better at 3B.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 03:32 AM) No. His job is to keep the ball in the infield. Always. Every f***ing time. You've obviously never played competitive baseball, because that is completely wrong.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) He was thinking "maybe I can ruin everyone's day by hitting the ball away from Juan because I'm 100 percent sure he's right behind me, if I were smart I'd let the ball go and maybe we can win this game." That's what he was thinking, leave him alone, he tripped and he did his best to keep the ball in the infield and it didn't work out, s*** happens over the course of 162 games. Yea, I understand that. I'm just frustrated with this guy. He hasn't even come close to his potential and I just think it is time to move on at his position.
  5. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 03:27 AM) So you wouldn't mind paying the rest of Griffey's deal. I was exaggerating to make a point.
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 03:29 AM) He was thinking "Stop the ball and keep it in the infield" which is EXACTLY what he should be thinking. No, given the runners on base, it does not matter if the ball goes into the outfield at this point. You aren't always thinking about keeping the ball in the infield. The same is said if a groundball is hit slightly to the left or right of the mound...you have to know that in certain situations letting the ball go is the right play, this was a case where he should have let the ball go, EVEN IF it meant it went into the outfield.
  7. QUOTE(El Piervizdyeguchansodnik @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 03:26 AM) HIs eye was on the ball. Juan was not right behind Crede. Juan was sliding to stay in front of that ball. Even Juan would have had a hard time throwing him out. Since Crede's eye was on the ball, and Juan was ALMOST behind him, he figured that no one was behind him so he tried to stop the ball from going into the outfield. Was it Crede who gave up the 3 run shot?? That is the incorrect baseball analysis. First of all Uribe was in a position to make the play, even if his momentum was going in the other direction he was still in a MUCH better position to make the play than Crede was from his belly. At that point as a third basemen you have to know that if you can't make the play the fact that it goes into the outfield makes no difference given the situation. Of course he did not give up the homerum but his misplay brought about the situation, he let down his pitcher defensively, so shifting the blame on him is not unfair.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 03:26 AM) You think that Cincy would trade Randa for Crede straight-up? I would take Griffey on the DL for Crede.
  9. Game was completely his fault. I have no idea what he was thinking when he tried to barehand that ball, that was the wrong thing to do defensively. You have fat ass Lecroy chugging down the basepaths and one of the strongest arms in the league behind you but you try to barehand stab the ball from your belly? Completely f***ing ridiculous. I have had it with Crede, I would be more than happy to see a replacement at 3B.
  10. This is totally unrelated to this thread but I didn't want to make another one for it since it is a similar question. Is BBTN going to be 20 minutes during the whole season? This "trifecta" s*** is gay.
  11. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 04:53 AM) I'm not sure if they're having one, I haven't checked the site though. All I know is that for the Bulls, if anything, they had SportsNite and kind of intertwined a pregame there with live reports from the UC I can live with having some bulls coverage before the game but for f***s sake I don't want to see anything about the scrubs when I'm trying to get fired up for a Twins/Sox game.
  12. Do they have Sox pregame on CSN or what? Still scrubs highlights :headshake
  13. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) Gload in at 1st now. Konerko just put the glove on his right hand.
  14. QUOTE(shakes @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) Pardon my ignorance, but what does that mean? Doesn't make you ignorant. When playing cards were first invented the suits were ranked. Spades signified the military, diamonds the aristocrats, hearts the clergy and clubs the peasants. The 2 of clubs is technically the least valuable card in the entire deck. It was just his tactful way of calling Mariotti a piece of s***.
  15. "well I'll tell ya this guy....he's the original deuce of clubs...."
  16. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 05:39 AM) Is it Nancy Faust, or some commercial goup? Its not Nancy, I'm almost sure of that, she plays the organ anyways right?
  17. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 05:34 AM) They don't do THUNDERSTRUCK anymore??? That's become part of the thread woven into Sox baseball!!! What do they do now? I couldn't even tell you. They still do the thing on the big screen with the history of the Sox players but then after that they go into this really light piano music kind of thing. At least thats how I remember it. It is very gay.
  18. QUOTE(Sox Pride 22 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 03:50 AM) at least gene was back and actually knew the players and positions. Not enough for me, the beginning of the game just wasn't the same without the Thunderstruck intro. I didn't get nearly as pumped as I normally do.
  19. QUOTE(BigNDfan80 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) I know they were a little different for Opening Day. Did they go back to the Thunderstruck intros? No, and I was rather dissapointed.
  20. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) 6 innings and only 2 earned runs seemed pretty good to me. Not as good as MB but seems like he held it down pretty well. Anyone who actually saw the game.......howd he look? I was there, he struggled bigtime early. He ran the count to 3-0, 3-1 what seemed like a dozen times in the first few innings but made his pitches when he needed to and got some big outs. He did his job, gave the team a chance to win the game which is ultimately what you want from your starting pitcher. The gun at the park had him at 101 sometimes, so obviously that was wrong, I would say he was more around 92-95 with his heater, and it seemed to get stronger throughout the game which was a good sign.

    2 Spot

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) Pods looked bad? From what I heard he hit it hard 3 times. Yea, he put good wood on it today. I was there and he smoked 3 balls, unfortunately only 1 was for a hit, but I will take that kind of contact ANY day of the week. Those balls are going to find the holes and the gaps eventually. As far as Iguchi goes, his double was a nice flash of what I hope are good things to come but he still looks really timid at the plate and frankly his swing and timing just lookg very sloppy right now. I do also feel Aaron would thrive in the 2 spot, HOWEVER I don't think Iguchi is suited for a bottom of the order spot so things are fine the way they are. Aaron will put up good numbers where he is at and this way it is much more balanced.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Hey Nick, how was the commute? Well I almost didn't end up going today, I woke up with a little bit of a fever but I decided to man-up and go anyways (soooo glad I did) and then we found a 4th to go and he offered to drive so we didn't need to take the train, but we are going to the game vs Seattle on the 16th and taking the train then....best part is $7.50 tickets (teachers vouchers).
  23. Yes, Garcia did look that bad. He couldn't find the strike zone the entire game. He did a great job to only allow the 2 runs (should have been one but he balked in the second) but it was definitely not something I want to see out of Garcia again. Also, there is no way in hell there were even close to 10,500 people there which is what the announced attendance was.
  24. What can I say, that was unreal....probably the best comeback I have ever seen in person. I must say the first 8 innings were nothing short of painful to watch. Garcia looked awful, our hitters looked confused at the plate, nothing was going our way at all. The crowd was small and for the most part dead. I have to admit I all but conceded the game after Hafners 2B in the top of the ninth. It all happened so fast, it was unbelievable.....I don't really know what to say, it was a fantastic finish but overall I think the team looked flat, either way good teams find a way to win and today we won
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) Yes you can, sorry with the screen name I just assumed that was were you were. This is the NICTD mapquest of the Hammond train station http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?zoom=...in=31&longsec=0 This is the site that has CTA info, the red line is the one you will want. http://www.transitchicago.com/maps/rail/rail.html Both sites have all of the fare info and train schedules. I ride the south shore everyday to and from work, if you have anymore questions let me know. Thanks for the help, I don't know jack about public transportation. As far as the screenname, I did my undergrad at Valpo U and lived there for a total of about 7 years.
