Why wouldn’t they be? Basically all the super prospects will be on the 25 man roster, and it’s not like Abreu/Keuchel are young studs. Personally, I think they should be going for it.
Agreed, and don’t confuse me predicting with what will happen with what I want to have happen. Ideally they would spend money on Bauer, but that won’t happen.
They aren’t cutting payroll IMO, which in today’s baseball is meaningful. It seems they will add to the payroll but only short-term in terms of years. I’ve never considered Springer or Bauer to be realistic for this reason.
Why is it so hard for some to understand that Lynn is a bonafide TOR starter that costs 8 million if you trade for him. Meanwhile number 5 starters are getting more than that in free agency. It’s easy to see why that path is more intriguing to Jerry.
It’s like some are just ignoring there were no fans last year and no guarantee of fans next year. It’s easier just to make Jerry the boogeyman instead of realizing the tough economic situation all these teams face.
