  1. He’s been accused of being racist by a few players in the past
  2. I’m sure Jerry doesn’t care. Ironically, I doubt fans are allowed anyways next year.
  3. Yep probably had some discussions with Tony (and maybe Hinch’s reps) in the extended period between last game and the Zoom call to announce Ricky was fired.
  4. It’s crazy to see how many Sox fans on twitter are saying they will stop being Sox fans if they hire TLR. Like seriously, you put up with the last decade of mostly horrific garbage to quit now when it’s going to be good?
  5. I’m sure he will say that he’s eager to talk to every player about it to get their perspective.
  6. Stoney sure seemed to think it would be Hinch as well about ten days ago. And yes, Jimmy is as good as it gets.
  7. A pandemic doesn’t help, and just cause the Sox potentially have resources doesn’t mean other teams don’t either.
  8. Sox will promote it as hiring a HOF with 3 WS trophies under his belt
  9. Just checked twitter and good lord, this is the biggest meltdown I’ve seen about a coaching move since the Tennessee football debacle.
  10. Bauer is never going to sign here anyways.
  11. Players, like usual, and possibly more this offseason, will go to the team that offers the most money. Unless Tony says something dumb at the introduction conf call, players will have no issues signing to play for him.
  12. Nightengale listed Tony as the prime candidate a few hours after the conference call. This didn’t come out of the blue. My theory is JR wanted Tony and Hahn preferred Hinch. Tony would be given an interview to see how everyone would mesh. Tony aced the interview and Hahn supported Jerry’s decision.
  13. It would explain the quality of your posts in 2005
  14. And there’s Stone with the DDT finisher
  15. I think it helps because Jerry will spend to support his guy. He’s not going to let his pick end up with a bullpen game in game 3 of the postseason
  16. Someone mentioned the Mack Brown hire to UNC earlier, and it’s an amazing comp. Tony will basically be the CEO with a young bench coach and young pitching coach, IMO.
  17. That’s the only part that worries me. On the field it should be average.
  18. I want to throw out this pure guess....Tony is the acting manager, Konerko is manager in waiting as the bench coach
  19. The Sox were not a good team down the stretch as they ran out of gas. I expect them to have more talent in the coming years. Also Tony has at least proven he knows how to lead his team to important victories. Ricky managed crucial games like he was still a tank commander.
  20. By no means am I happy with the hire, and god knows Sox twitter is going to have an epic meltdown. I’m just of the opinion that my 4 year old son could manage this team to a quality record if the main core guys even come close to their potential.
  21. Honest question, how do you think Tony will mess this up? The Sox core should dictate their success, not the manager.
