QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:23 PM) Orioles are still talking to teams about machado but sources say there’s no expectation/belief MM/agent would grant negotiating window for acquiring team at present. So would be 1 year player. Heyman Can't think of a dumber idea for the Sox

QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:19 PM) What's the 72 hour window do?? We get 72 hours to negociate a contract.. What happens if nothing is reached in that time frame? Can the trade be thrown out? Someone enlighten lil' ol' me Yes the trade can be called off then

Wouldn't be surprised if they trade Tocci

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:13 PM) It is interesting to note that the White Sox, except for Freddy Garcia, really haven't brought in a potential free agent, to "see the culture", but even that trade was about immediate winning. Machado will love the White Sox culture as long as they offer him the most money next winter. Wonder how much he'll love the culture if they win 70 games

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:10 PM) You'd pretty much be buying a 7-month negotiation window. Then you could flip to recover some value in July. And more than likely get far less than what you gave up

Haven't read a single rumor since this broke again last night that makes me feel comfortable about this

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:22 AM) What are the odds a White Sox has is connected with Hahn? Not buying much of what he sells He's broken as many, if not more, Sox stories last two years as anyone. It's obvious he found out the Sox put in an offer for Manny, which others have reported.

Orioles even said today they're going to go home from meetings tomorrow and revisit the proposals down the road. Absolutely nothing close

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:15 AM) WSD is a BS artist, hasn't he gotten hmmmmm one deal correct ever? He's gotten quite a few.

Exactly what we thought https://mobile.twitter.com/barstoolWSD/stat...129145031036928

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:12 AM) Probably 10 with a few opt-outs. 10/325 with 5 year opt out

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:11 AM) For him not to go to free agency, they better be willing to pay over $30m a year. There's also value in being the only team that can negotiate a deal with him for a year. Not that much value for being only team negotiating if he's deadset on hitting free agency

At this point rather bet on Avi and hope he has a great first half of 2018

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 01:35 AM) Side note: He’s with Yonder Alonso’s sister Get Yonder! Sounds good and don't trade for Pedroia and all the other guys he's argued with

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 01:34 AM) Why in the world would the Orioles want Rutherford for Machado? Am I missing something here? If this type of trade is available, why doesn't Hahn send Kevan Smith to Washington for Harper? Exactly why none of this makes sense and why there better be an extension included because cost is going to be severe

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 01:34 AM) Ugh. Really hope this is about Abreu and not Machado. Saying enjoy the ride makes me think it's Manny

QUOTE (Soxnfins @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 01:32 AM) Hypothetical here: Would you do Rutherford and someone like say, A.J. Puckett for Machado? Let’s say in a perfect world, the O’s accept this offer. Possibly but why would the Orioles do that

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 01:32 AM) Unless Machado is engaged/married to Renteria’s second cousin I don’t see him signing an extension. Perfect

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 01:31 AM) Sure, a guy later in his career who cares as much about being comfortable, not a young guy who is the 2nd biggest free agent available. And it's not like he has any previous ties here

QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:28 AM) Clearly, by those quotes, the Front Office believes they basically have a year to recruit Machado to sign an extension. If they truly believe that, I could understand giving up some assets to make it happen. I get the idea, I just don't think it will work. They're trying to be too cute. Agreed completely. Sure you take him for a year if it costs you Spencer Adams and Basabe, but the price is going to be higher

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:23 AM) Call me crazy, but I’d do Rutherford & an arm like Adams for Machado without an extension. Doesn’t seem like it would be enough, but maybe the Orioles are obsessed with Blake for some reason. What's the point in adding him for one year when you aren't trying to compete?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:17 AM) I’m paraphrasing, because it’s behind a paywall, but he basically said it’s easier to sign a guy if he’s been around your culture and sometimes you need to take a risk. Thanks and ugh

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:12 AM) Look at Kenny’s quote after missing out on Ohtani and Hahn’s quotes with Fegan today. What would that be? Did read something about Hahn saying "dare to dream"

QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 01:10 AM) I hope they learned their lesson with Samardzija (I know they were trying to compete that year, but it always seemed like they were sure they were going to get an extension done). Yep when everyone said he would never negotiate. Same thing we're hearing about Manny

QUOTE (Soxnfins @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 01:04 AM) You have a great point, Fathom. It is only one eyeball, after all.... WSD usually goes nuts with them. So we should expect 8 eyeballs later
