  1. Abreu will be here for four more years unless they trade him. No reason to worry about him at this time
  2. Too bad it wasn't a 5 year, 500k deal to show there's no year limit
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 10:02 PM) At this point, f*** it and offer 5/125. The Sox need Cespedes. That would be gross
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) I know you're being sarcastic, but Sale really should demand a trade. He doesn't deserve to be on this garbage team any longer. No doubt in my mind he's gone next offseason if they suck again this year.
  5. I assume if Nats get him, they'll trade Taylor and a pitching prospect for Lucroy
  6. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:51 PM) So is Cespedes to Washington confirmed at this point or do we still have a sliver of a chance? Confirmed, and Sale has demanded a trade
  7. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 09:44 PM) This contract is a bad contract the minute he signs it. You can either spend money there or on scouting and draft/international players with value. The fact Avasail Garcia is terrible at baseball is what is killing the White Sox. This as well as a neglect of prospect resources is where the White Sox have failed miserably over the recent years. A replacement level RF is what they need. Yep, Avi and Davidson being busts has killed the resources.
  8. My opinion is Desmond is the opposite of Cespedes in terms of how they'd react to a long-term deal. Cespedes might have a hard time staying focused, but I believe Desmond pressed a lot last year after turning down the extension and would be more relaxed with a few years on his new contract.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:16 PM) The Nationals I meant the Sox
  10. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) Why would they ever think it would be less? 6 years is one thing but 4-5 years you do it, IMO. It was never realistic to expect him to take anything less than 4 at minimum. Again, who said they want him for more than 3 years?
  11. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:14 PM) Typical White Sox. They wonder why their attendance numbers dwindle each year & it's because of this type of stuff. Let your division rivals get better & not complete the plan. They were never going to compete with that Upton contract
  12. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:09 PM) No pick attached considered... Potential decline in performance over the later years included... I still say give him 5/110 and roll the dice for 2016/2017. But that decline in performance in later years and a huge contract could cripple the team as they try to keep the core together.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:50 PM) But David Robertson fits into that scenario how exactly? Which is exactly why I think the 3 year limit has more to do with the guys that were available instead of an organization philosophy.
  14. QUOTE (Baron @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:47 PM) I think it's the aftermath damage control that is going to irritate me more than him going to the Nats I'm sure we'll here "Yoenis woke up Wednesday thinking he'd be a White Sox, but the Nats blew him away with an offer"
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Exactly when in this current plan can fans reasonably expect to compete for the playoffs again? This year, maybe they just don't have the money in the budget. Who knows, maybe they are also cutting down on long-term expenses to eventually sell? So much more to things than just claiming they're being cheap.
  16. Cespedes to me is like a 5 star recruit your college team is going after, and everyone knows he'll be high-maintenance to keep happy when he's at your school.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:40 PM) The only thing you can think is there is massive behind-the-scenes badness with Cespedes. The whispers of that with Puig are all over the place, but not Cespedes. Slight primadonna behavior but whatever, that's about it I would say it's more than slight. More stories have come out about him being a diva than just about anyone I can recall when they were a free agent.
  18. QUOTE (Baron @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:39 PM) They played the market wrong and got caught. They'll pay for it at the deadline is they are even close enough to a playoff spot. How so, it's not like they couldn't have changed their mind on the 3 year length if they wanted to. Quite frankly, I don't think they trusted any of these 3 outfielders on a lengthy deal.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) Slit my throat for me Bob NightengaleVerified account ‏@BNightengale The biggest surprise now is if #Nats don't sign Cespedes. They appear to be the only team interested in giving him longer than 3-year deal. How is this not a massive red flag to everyone?
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) But the problem here is we were passed by Detroit, and still have to catch KC and Cleve...and just might be even with the Twins, who happen to have one of the better farm systems in the game again under Ryan. Well of course Sox are going to be awful if nearly everyone on the team underachieves again like 2015.
  21. Funny how Mets fans want him to go to the Sox now
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) They targeted Frazier and Lawrie and got both of them..... +1
  23. QUOTE (staxx @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 07:56 PM) Not at all. No one ever expected or thought we could sign Cespedes this offseason. Getting Frazier and Lawrie has been fantastic along with the C change. Id give it an B+ right now, with a solid A/A+ if Cespy signs. Don't worry, "yes" is getting 75% of the votes
  24. White Sox Talk ‏@CSNWhiteSox Jan 19 If the #WhiteSox don't sign Cespedes, is the offseason a disappointment? Nice poll
