  1. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 01:59 AM) Blue jays might be unstoppable To help me sleep easier at night, I picture this path for the Cubs to not win the WS: - Pirates in WC game - Cardinals NLDS - Dodgers NLCS - Blue Jays or Royals WS Those are some legit teams
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 02:55 AM) Cubs might be the second best team in the NL and most of their core group has green dicks. What happens when Soler's and Russell's offense catches up to their D? My goodness. At least with the Cubs arrival we can bump a damn hockey team from being the class of the city. And when they add a top FA pitcher like Price this offseason...yuck. It's horrifying how everything has come together for Theo and company. It really all started by getting Arrieta and Strop for a crappy pitcher.
  3. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 01:55 AM) If they win one it will be unbearable rest of our lives. 2005 will not mean anything again. This weekend was the last 3 games I cared if the Sox won. Rest of the year, especially playoffs, will be hoping anyone but the Cubs win the WS.
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 01:54 AM) I think it's just the complete lack of accountability that gets me. Nobody gives a s***. They just keep making the same mistakes over and over again. This is a battle of one team that is always looking for new, innovative ways to improve its organization, and the other team is just happy to have "yes men". No way the Sox would have ever considered firing Ventura to bring in Maddon when he became a FA.
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 02:53 AM) god forbid they start winning WS's...Sox will lose an entire generation of potential fans Yep
  6. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 02:53 AM) This team sucks. It's a shame. They've got a ways to go and sometimes ya gotta wonder can they get it done. I can't do the hiring or firing so I have to keep faith. Not with this GM and Manager in place
  7. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 02:26 AM) Sometimes I forget how much I loathe the cubs It's just going to get worse. Bandwagon will make the Blackhawks fan base seem like a minor league squad.
  8. What a pathetic effort tonight. Just an incredibly sloppy game by the Sox. Hahn and Ventura have had a HORRIBLE 2015.

QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 11:56 PM) And the cubs two years... No way, they hyped him up. They definitely didn't offer him ace money.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 12:53 AM) Dude, there is no chance of this happening. Scouts love the arm, someone will give up the pick for him a multi-year deal. There's going to be huge doubts about his ability to pitch in the AL, and there are so many great pitchers available, it could get awkward for him.

QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 12:52 AM) at this point he is 44-55 with a 4.00 ERA in his career. That's not Ace material for sure... Only person to ever view him as an ace was Billy Beane
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 11:48 PM) People think that Alexei started it with waving his fingers at Strop. I wouldn't be shocked if he got hit tomorrow. Also why Strop celebrated towards him. Doesn't make it ok to basically start playing with himself on the mound
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 11:48 PM) Need Mets and Nats to keep it close just so the Cubs can't plan Arrieta for wildcard game. The only bright side to if they have to pitch Arrieta in WC game is that it could mean one less start vs the Cardinals, a team he's dominated.

QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 12:45 AM) He's likely to recover to some extent, but while I normally see things pretty optimistically, I really hated the trade we made for him. He'll recover in the NL next year. I could totally see a situation where the Sox give him a QO, he declines and then no one signs him until May, when the Cubs give him a 1-year deal.
  15. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 12:40 AM) Too many guys LOB today, not going to win that way. Yep, and almost all strikeouts. Biggest out of the game was Abreu striking out with them loaded against Hendricks, who had nothing.
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 12:36 AM) Another subpar effort from Ventura/Cooper. Madden uses his pen. Ventura/Cooper make damn sure that starter gets 6 and 100+ Yea, Ventura should worry about celebrations. That's the ticket to baseball success. Maddon's been managing every game for the last 10 days like it's a playoff game.

Absolutely disappointing...I also hate Cleveland and Boston for sucking so much vs the Sox at the end of July.
  18. At this point, it seems rather certain Cubs will make the playoffs. Just have to hope Cardinals keep winning.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 08:33 PM) I'd love for the Cubs to win one day just for the party in Wrigleyville. I hate you again like it's 2005
  20. Just saw the Strop celebration. I'll be disappointed if a message isn't sent by Ventura tomorrow. What a total scumbag.
  21. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 11:33 PM) Let's keep batting Adam LaSuck tomorrow. He's earned it. We'll get 1 hit, and that one runner will get picked off by Ross.
  22. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 11:32 PM) the Cubs are good but also have a horseshoe up their asses this year. How many 1 run games have they won? Run differential is closer to a team 7-8 wins above .500, not almost 20 Their bullpen has been great lately, especially since they got rid of Soriano. Maddox's always been an unbelievable manager in terms of using his bullpen.
  23. Rick Hahn should be proud of this mediocre team he's put together. The difference in GM/Manager between the Cubs and Sox is sickening.
  24. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 11:16 PM) So that makes Tyler 1 for 16 with 2 runners on. So we got that going for us. Sounds like ideal number 2 hitter that they won't hit an run with
  25. That was also where you need someone on the bench that bats lefty to hit for Saladno
