Be nice if the Rangers don't take one of the pitchers the Sox are interested in here. -

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 11:00 PM) Do you trust this organization to develop a hitter? I don't. Until they drastically change the player development department, I go pitching all day. Especially not a high school catcher, which is considered the hardest thing to do in the development field. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:47 PM) That's why it'd be nice to right a wrong and get 2-3 prospects back for him ... now. Trade him to some contender that needs a starter. Would the Twins take him? The Royals? I want Colon. Colon is a utility player. Why would the Sox want him?

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 11:26 PM) Oh and I would most certainly trade Quintana for Schwarber. He is exactly what the Sox need right now. It would be a ballsy move and maybe wound up looking really stupid in the end but you have to roll the dice when it comes to obtaining premiere offensive talent. Where would Schwarber play? LF is tied up for another 2 years after this.

Kiley McDaniel Fulmer, Jay, Tate. Also the order I have them. via·less than a minute ago Comment From Eric Kiley, in what order do you think the White Sox rank Tate, Fullmer, and Jay? -

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 11:19 PM) It's not all that uncommon that we hear about these things and the kid ends up signing for the slot he's drafted at. Sometimes the team calls the kid's bluff and he just takes the money and runs. Or they throw out fake numbers because they don't want a certain team to draft them. Heck, there was an article last week that said Boras told the Sox they couldn't afford Rodon. -
QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) Would you do Quintana for Baez? Not a chance in hell. Wouldn't do it for Schwarber either. For Russell, yes.

Kiley McDaniel I don't think that's the reason, but I'm told the Cubs take him if he's there. Comment From Jeff Gross What's the probability that the Cubs sign Trenton Clark, giving them a possible Addison & Clark duo? -

QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) I don't think Kyle Tucker or that HS catcher will be there for the Sox to take but if either one is the Sox better take em You trust the development people to make these guys into MLB starters? -
Great hire by Iowa St. Him, or Mike White, was the coach I wanted if GT canned Gregory. He plays a very exciting style.

Some rumors on twitter the Cubs could be going after Hamels again. My guess is CarGo or Papelbon. carl @barstoolcarl 8h8 hours ago Big trade news for the Cubs today. Hear me now believe me later.

Jay appears to be a fly ball pitcher. Some good swings by the righties off him. -

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) That adds legitimacy to the Astros going underslot significantly at number two (Benitendi is the rumored target) and using the savings to go over slot with Cameron while going full slot on Tucker at number 5. Bregman supposed to go with their first pick -
I say no, just because I used to always get him and Matt Davidson confused!

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) Haha..shows what I remember. I had remember writing about Trout and really being a fan of his. Selective memory haha. Evidently I also suggested we should draft Garrett Richards. Too bad they didn't do that either, haha. And foolishly, I didn't want Trout because I thought he would be in the mold of Rowand. -

Interesting that there are significant rumors suggesting Cameron will go to the Astros with their 3rd pick, #37. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 07:46 PM) That might be more the LA Times making more of it. he signed for slot and was never viewed as a top 10 pick and largely went roughly where everyone had him pegged (in the 20's). Have a hard time saying teams passed on him cause of demands and he handed given some indication that he didn't have one of those Stanford commits where guys legitimately fall because they plan on going to college. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=72142 You actually had posted this: Oh and one guy the Sox have been linked to, Prep Outfielder Mike Trout (no strong ties, more tied to them based upon needs by other columnists), is demanding $2.5M, which is .1M less than Beckham got. -

IIRC, Baseball America was reporting his signing demands were scaring off some teams as well. I think I saw that when going through the 2009 draft thread on this site a few weeks ago. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) Trout didn't have any ridiculous demands associated with him, at least not that I was aware of. From the linked article: Word before the draft that Trout was seeking a $2.5-million signing bonus might have scared off some teams. But the Angels, who got quite a catch when they drafted outfielder Tim Salmon in 1989, picked Trout and signed him for $1.215 million, his slot value. http://articles.latimes.com/2011/feb/19/sp...-trout-20110220
