  1. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:45 PM) I think that whole thing is overblown. And the players played yesterday, so clearly they weren't that militant that a weak manager like Ventura could talk them into playing. Just wait until LaRoche makes it official he's retiring, that's when I think things get worse with the players. As of now, maybe they're holding out hope he returns.
  2. QUOTE (Gakman23 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) On Mike and Mike right now they are discussing how Robin had to basically beg the players to play yesterday after they found out Kenny stepped into the office and made the no LaRoche jr allowed in the office every day. Sounds like a team all on the same page, but I would guess someone probably complained behind the scenes and that's why this happened. That's not good to hear about the game. Hate to say this but LaRoche returning might be what's best for the clubhouse.
  3. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:36 PM) Worse than his batting average, K rate, and general suck factor? His body language and energy was worse than any of those stats last year.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) Exactly. Eaton has been tweeting about it and a "source" says Sale is pissed. Yet how many other players are quiet about the situation? Why do you think that is? And those are two guys who were here last year and used to it. Maybe the new guys came in and thought it was a distraction.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) From anyone who has said anything about the kid, including those that don't have a dog in the fight, there is no reason to believe he caused any kinds of trouble. If KW wanted to change the policy, he could have changed it in a couple of weeks. The kid isn't around every day during the season. He plays on 2 teams one in the Chicago area and one in Kansas. While he was around more than the 50% KW has now said is too much but 49% would be just fine, it wasn't the 100% many have said. Which is why the Abbatacola report makes the most sense for why this situation took place when it did.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) No he wasn't involved in team meetings. He did odd jobs and didn't have access to the clubhouse during games. Read the articles I linked earlier in this thread. LaRoche didn't ask for special privileges at all. He was doing as he did last year when the Sox said nothing. Either ban kids or give them x amount of passes. Many teams ban kids. If that is the policy, fine. Don't half assed adjust said policy because you think one kid is around too much.KW said it wasn't about this kid, it's about the next player who wants to bring his kid every day. Why didn't he ban kids when Ozzie was managing? Why does anyone think KW would admit if a player told him it was about the kid. That's a great way to kill team chemistry even more. It's no shock to me that the only media member to supposedly hear something is someone not associated with the Sox.
  7. Woke up today wondering if this has nothing to do with Drake and everything to do with the team believing Adam's not focusing enough on baseball. Either way, the sooner this story goes away, the better.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 05:18 AM) Fathom is right. At some point, religious discrimination or "persecution" is going to come into this eventually...whether it's an accusation via Twitter or a legal argument. I was being sarcastic when I said that. It's not like LaRoche's beliefs weren't known before he signed here Also if it was for those reasons, I'm confident in saying the whole team would have walked out
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 05:08 AM) David Kaplan ‏@thekapman 42m42 minutes ago Just so we're clear: Sox agreed to let LaRoche have son be around 100% of the time. Condition of him agreeing to sign w/the White Sox. 100%. I don't know how this guy is seen as credible What if LaRoche is the person who told him this new info after hearing things from Sox management earlier?
  10. Waiting for Kaplan to now say it's something ridiculous like political or religious beliefs that caused them to do this
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:56 AM) God, I f***ing hate Kaplan. Of course this s*** would come from him. Funny that the story is similar to the Fowler-Orioles debacle that he called Fowler a tremendous human being for
  12. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 04:49 AM) Kaplan comes how many hours after this broke and is throwing his 2 cents in. Someone pro-LaRoche is clearly leaking stuff. His meat company is giving these tweets a thumbs up as well
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 04:48 AM) Oh, chill. I said that about Sale well before that quote, to be honest.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 04:47 AM) If no players are really complaining too much and it's mostly Kenny, I almost hope laroche comes back. Some more details need to come out here, and it would be nice if LaRoche speaks too. Yep I wonder if for team chemistry reasons it's better for him to return.
  15. Better win this year or there's no doubt in my mind he requests a trade https://mobile.twitter.com/thekapman/status...310390891065344
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 04:41 AM) Two more weeks left in Arizona. They should have just got through it and established better rules next year when he'd be gone. I can see why he and his teammates are pissed if the organization went back on a handshake agreement.
  17. Oh darn, Sox will struggle to sign big time free agents now Agents will have to find a different team to use against bidders
  18. Strong words here by Jim Bowden https://mobile.twitter.com/JimBowden_ESPN/s...306693758910464

  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:17 AM) We need to bring in illinilaw. If LaRoche was promised that privilege, everyone in the Sox organization (especially the players) were aware of this fact, as well as some of his ex-teammates like Harper or Boyer...would the White Sox be covered legally because there wasn't an explicit promise written into the contract? At any rate, it still makes the White Sox look bad if that was the case. They shouldn't have offered that "open clubhouse" policy in the first place unless they were willing to deal with the consequences. Isn't that why they did everything Sunday? They offered it but felt like LaRoche took it a little too far?
  21. Let's make everyone happy and void his contract while letting him become a FA
  22. I will say it is kind of pathetic that Ventura had nothing to say today about everything
  23. QUOTE (ChicagoHeel @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 04:01 AM) @thekapman This White Sox story is one of the most bizarre I have seen in a long time. Good sources tell me it was a condition of LaRoche signing here. @thekapman You are wrong. 100% that he could be there everyday. Otherwise he would not have signed with the White Sox. Ugh this story just won't die
  24. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:57 AM) He needs to STFU. These guys are already building all the excuses they need for a slow start. It's ridiculous. STFU and play baseball. He actually said the opposite tonight and they are closer than ever
  25. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:11 AM) I don't want to hate Adam Eaton, but here we are. He's an idiot. Hasn't said anything too bad tonight
