GAME THREAD 5/2: SOX @ CLE
QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 3, 2014 -> 12:28 AM) Yes, but that's only once a week. Rodon might be the 3rd best starter in the organization the day they draft him, if he is available.

GAME THREAD 5/2: SOX @ CLE
QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 3, 2014 -> 12:26 AM) It's tough watching a team that can't get anyone out. Like watching the Bears being unable to stop anyone.

Is this team going to set a record for two out runs allowed?

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 3, 2014 -> 01:13 AM) It seems Abreu is not seeing the ball well tonight, or his timing is way off. Curse of Abreu's April

And this is another example of why two bullpen started games in less than a week is idiotic.

GAME THREAD 5/2: SOX @ CLE
QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 2, 2014 -> 11:38 PM) 14.25 million for this garbage. 2 more years on the books lucky Sox. Good deal at the time, but shaping up to be one of the worst deals in Sox history.

GAME THREAD 5/2: SOX @ CLE
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 2, 2014 -> 11:35 PM) You know, you and Dick Allen are two of my favorite posters on this board but I never suspected you were one in the same person. All I know is that the pitching results have been awful, and all the pitchers seem to have struggled with velocity and command. Cooper is due big time for a "fixed pitcher"

GAME THREAD 5/2: SOX @ CLE
QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 2, 2014 -> 11:30 PM) Was assured he would. Hahn has an incredibly hard task of rebuilding the pitching. Only two reliable starters on the roster, and that's assuming Sale is healthy. There is absolutely nothing in the minors close to being ready either.

Noesi probably starting Tue
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 2, 2014 -> 10:36 PM) Kepp and Paulino starting rehab and another Noesi start? Great day to be a Sox fan! Nothing like bullpen days against probably your two biggest rivals.

2014 Draft class
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2014 -> 08:21 PM) The White Sox have 5 of their own draft picks on their roster not including Sale: Jordan Danks Gordon Beckham Marcus Semien Daniel Webb Jake Petricka Not exactly hard to replace. Webb shouldn't be on the list.

2014 Draft class
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2014 -> 08:15 PM) First off, Boras cannot directly negotiate with the White Sox or whichever team makes the selection or Mr. Rodon doesn't have the option of returning to pitch in college. Playing hardball has worked for some and screwed others. I was reading where Houston offered Appel $6 million the year before, and he said no. The Pirates drafted him and offered him $3.8 which of course was turned down. He ultimately signs with Houston the next year for $6.35 million. So losing a year of pro ball, he did gain $350k, but is probably a year behind in development, if not more. It could cost him an extra year to arbitration which make the risk of return pretty stupid. I think if JR and Hahn talk to this kid and his parents, or any team for that matter, they can show that being picked in the top 3 and not signing really makes little sense. The risk far outweighs the reward. In a situation like Rodon's, I think the Sox history of being incredibly aggressive with their assignments for top draft picks will help them. It wouldn't shock me if the told Rodon he could be in the majors the following season in order to try and get him on board.

2014 Cubs Catch-All Thread
Rizzo turning into a stud it seems. 3-3, 2 homers and 5 walks in his last 8 at bats. He's heating up just in time to face the Sox...ugh

2014 Draft class
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2014 -> 08:09 PM) The entire draft is an if. You draft the best player. You defended the White Sox drafting Walker and his horribleness by pointing out only one of the supplemental picks his year made the majors. Why are you going to go cheap on pick #3 to have more money for a longshot? I also don't think if Rodon goes #3 he will not sign for a reasonable amount. It might be overslot, but I doubt he goes back to NCS if he's offered something reasonable. Maybe he isn't the guy the Sox think is the best. But drafting at #3 and picking based on saving a lot of money for later rounds isn't really too much different from the philosophy which got their system in this mess. I couldn't agree with you more. I'll be quite disappointed if the Sox pass on Rodon for someone ranked in the 10-20 range, only to have the Cubs pay Rodon what he's looking for and seeing him turn into the star a lot of people have predicted he'll become.

2014 Draft class
Law seems to rank Feede higher than most. With that said, Law suggested in his chat today that the Sox would take either Aiken or Kolek if they are available.
-
2014 Draft class
Unless the Sox think they can get Hoffman in the 2nd round, Feede would be a disappointing pick that high. It will be sad if they pass on Rodon, Aiken or Kolek due to worries about Boras.

5/1 Games
The pitching in the minors has been brutal for the Sox. Also, Barnum probably needs to go down to Kanny.

5/1 Games
Rough outing for Hanson, as he doesn't seem to have good control.
