  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 06:42 PM) He just doesn't look right. Does not look like a confident hitter. In my opinion, he looks like someone who knows he's washed up. It started last season when he started just trying to flare everything to right field, even in situations where a home run was needed, etc.
  2. Viciedo's swing plane is awful right now.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 06:40 PM) PK's loss of power continues to astound me. Must have been off the end of the bat, as I thought that was another line drive homer.

    http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20130609 Hawkins flew out in his first AB, which is a good sign to me since he's facing a strikeout pitcher. I also never noticed just how much Hawkins has dominated LHP.
  5. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 06:38 PM) Santiago has great stuff he just needs to challenge them and work off his fast ball better; so far in this game he isn't spotting it very well. If he could just develop a slow curve or something to get ahead in the count (like Danks yesterday), it would put him in an even great situation to use his fastball up for a strikeout
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 07:34 PM) Almost never throws it now. FanGraphs shows it at ~5% last time I looked at it. He told the Score in the preseason that he had to quit throwing it because he can't find his release point in a bullpen warmup. Throws a lot of changeups, which aren't very good. Whatever that changeup/screwball is, it needs work It's a shame, as he has a swing and miss fastball
  7. Looked safe to me, nice throw though
  8. They really need to work with Santiago on his offspeed pitches. He just doesn't get those pitches over enough or fool enough hitters. The screwball sounds cool in theory, but it's just not very effective.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 06:16 PM) Donaldson has already doubled his walk total for all of last season. 8th in the AL with 42 RBI's, 6th in hitting with RISP at 367. He wasn't even the main part of the Harden to the Cubs trade. He was supposed to be a catcher.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) Nice Start Gas!

    Here's video of his home run http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?con...55&sid=milb
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 09:57 PM) Looking a little closer at the names on this poll, I think it is very flawed. The guy that Rick is going to be trying hardest to trade, isn't anywhere on the list. There is a really good chance John Danks is the first guy out of town. His contract only has the next three years at a total of $42.75 million on it. If you can move him for any kind of return, the rotation is way more balanced, and that is a lot of cash to free up. It also doesn't look like you are melting the team down to Cub like standards because you have a built in replacement in Hector Santiago. I can't imagine a team taking on Danks and that contract.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 08:51 PM) The one problem this offseason will be that the Yankees will have like $80 million to spend. Yanks will probably be after Cano and Choo, Cubs after Ellsbury. I know I've said this far too often, but the Sox have to find a way to get more lefties in the lineup that have a better shot against the likes of Verlander, Scherzer, Masterson, etc. It's also one of the reasons I think Viciedo is expendable (for a big haul).
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 08:42 PM) DUNN DID SOMETHING RIGHT! It's almost literally home run or out for him against LHP
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 09:31 PM) I'm so freakin' delusional. For some reason I still believe the Sox are going to go on a run before they get any further out of this thing. Yes you are It's just hard to see it with this current roster, as even the starting pitching went from a great strength to average.
  16. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 08:26 PM) I think Dunn should bat 2nd. Put Beckham there and make him earn a starting spot next year.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 09:20 PM) What hte Hell happened to him out there? It started towards the end of last season where he lost his confidence in CF. This year, his field awareness and focus has been horrible.
  18. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 09:17 PM) De Aza is brutal in the field. I just don't see him lasting the season with the Sox. Wouldn't shock me if he gets dealt.
  19. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 09:09 PM) And Stringer strikes out on a slider as well. Seems like he had a very down year
  20. It sure seems like Red Sox are drafting a lot of overslot players since the 11th round started.
  21. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 08:44 PM) I never said anything about signing Granderson, Morales or trading for Olt to you. It was another poster's post that I went off of. No on around here seems to recognize that Floyd, Konerko and potentially Peavy and Rios We know your scenario, put together the world's s***tiest bullpen and hope we lose a 100 games. I don't think Fathom proved that all. He wants us to be the worst team in baseball so we can get Rodon. Not only is that not going to happen if you are a fan of this team you should not want it to. I don't think he ever said anything about my views on the bullpen either. I don't WANT them to be the worst, all I was saying is that if you're going to lose 90-95 games, then an extra 5 more games lost won't hurt anyone I don't think there's a chance in hell the Sox go full rebuild this offseason, especially since rebuilds usually mean you trade your high-priced veterans and this team's strong starting pitching is almost all young, cheap performers.
  22. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 07:40 PM) Jacob Morris, CF, U of Arkansas, R/R, SR, 6'03" 215lbs DOB: 12/19/90 @JacobMorris4 He's not quite the hitter
  23. You should never go into a season with a completely garbage bullpen. You can rebuild while having a few solid veterans in the pen. Heck, a team like the Marlins have some relievers that every team in baseball would like to have.
  24. That pitcher the Tigers are calling up has 6 more strikeouts in 62 less innings in AAA compared to AA. That's quite a staggering difference.
  25. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 07:24 PM) Okay, I am done as you can't ever stay on subject. If we lose a hundred games next year, I'll buy you a bottle of champagne for celebration. One step closer to Kansas City's success!! If the Sox lose 100 and have the #1 pick in the draft, that's better than if they lose 90 and pick 5th or so. Carlos Rodon is a special pitcher.
