White Sox v Indians 4/12/13
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 12:29 AM) Is Gimenez actually the kind of hitter that you can rely on a hit and run situation? Ventura's continuing his 2nd half nosedive from a managerial standpoint. Would really love to see some signs of progress from a tactical/strategic standpoint. Not seeing it, YET. It can't be all Don Cooper's absence, can it? If you're expecting the bunt in that situation, you're going to throw a high fastball most likely. Bad call by Ventura given Gimenez hasn't demonstrated if he's good or bad with his bat control.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 01:24 AM) Not going to win many games with #2, #4, #5 and #6 hitters all below .200. At least the offensive "explosion" last night raised our overall team batting average into the .250 range. Ramirez gunned down at 2B on the steal attempt. Another wasted baserunner to lead off an inning. Looking like Ozzie Ball again, haha. This offense just doesn't seem designed to compete against tough right-handed pitching. I still will never believe they didn't bring in an experienced, lefty catcher to split time with Flowers.

And a blown hit and run...yuck

Nice start to the inning...wouldn't mind the bunt here to avoid the DP

Against someone with mediocre control like Masterson, the Sox inability to draw a walk makes it so much tougher to get a rally going. This is a dreadful performance by the Sox offense so far.

Ugh, Keppinger has no business batting 2nd against righties. If he is going to bat 2nd, I don't get not putting a play in motion after De Aza gets on and a sinkerballer on the mound

Love to see a hit and run here with Keppinger

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 13, 2013 -> 12:51 AM) Yeah, Haren is a dog on this team, so there is room to get someone in there at that spot. There, and closer/bullpen. I guess all we need to do is suck balls for a few years, and hope 2 of the top talents in the last 20 years are also available in the draft! Oh, I guess we'd have to actually have a farm system worth mentioning, also. Their bullpen of Storen/Clippard/Stammen/Soriano is pretty deep. I expect they'll trade Espinosa sooner rather than later to make room for Rendon.

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 11:46 PM) I think I'm officially adopting Washington as my N.L. team. So fun to watch these guys. I'm excited to see any improvements they make in the next year or so with regards to filling Haren's spot with a top pitcher.

Wise should be playing tonight instead of Viciedo, as Masterson has dominated him so far in his career.

Yep, Greinke broke his left collarbone. Should be crazy next week with Padres in LA to face Dodgers

4/11 Games
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 02:50 AM) And that's with Carlos Sanchez coming pretty much out of nowhere to become one of our top overall prospects. After that, you have what, DiMichelle? And no 3B prospects to speak of at all, if Ravelo's moving over to 1B. Once again, the DR issues raises its ugly head...pointing out the overall lack of athleticism/talent and dynamic game-changing players in the system, other than Hawkins and POSSIBLY Thompson. Hopefully Barnum can get over that injury bug, because we're in DIRE need of some impact bats in that line-up to replace Rios/Dunn/Konerko. To be honest, I'm ashamed to admit I totally forgot about Sanchez. Makes me feel better that at least there's one potential infield starter in the organization right now (Barnum's still so far away to tell anything).

Santiago for 5th starter
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 03:36 AM) Because despite Axelrod being an awful pitcher, he always managed to do a solid job somehow. But believe me, I was the one raving about Santiago after that Brewers ST game saying he should be getting the nod over Axe. He had a 5.47 ERA last year with a 1.5 WHIP and it's not like he has a high ceiling where you're hopefully for significant improvement. He really should be nothing more than AAA fodder along with the likes of Morel.

4/11 Games
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 02:18 AM) For some reason, it feels like our system is worse this year. Cause last year, someone like Molina was thought of as having a lot of potential and excuses were made for his awful performance throughout the season. This year, there aren't any new pitchers in the system that cause people to get excited to follow them. I can't recall the last organization I've seen that has worse infield prospects than the Sox. It would be nice if Phegley can keep performing well, as the Sox could definitely be looking at a situation where they go into next season needing a catcher or two at the MLB level.

PK shows a great approach, only to be followed by Alexei doing the complete opposite. Oh well, we just got swept by one of the best teams I've seen in the majors over the past 3-4 years.

This team just can't buy a base on balls. 1 over the last two games, and now 8 behind the next closest team in the AL.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 03:15 AM) Don't you hate when, on paper, it figures we'd lose every game to a team, and we do? Woulda been nice to win one of these three. Sox had their chances in all three games, they just couldn't get a big hit and the starting pitching sucked by the Sox in this series.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 02:45 AM) It's almost like when Flowers has two strikes on him, the chance of a strikeout is 105%. He loves to take pitches down the plate for called 3rd while chasing pitches way off the plate.

Fastballs in, slow stuff away...the book is out on Flowers.

Axelrod does have more hits than Flowers over the last 4 games at least.

Santiago for 5th starter
Having maybe the 3rd best pitcher on your team as a long man with a manager who has a long leash for his starters is much more valuable I'd love to see Santiago get the chance to start and gain some experience this year, as his ceiling is significantly higher than Axelrod's and Quintana's

I hope they have the guts to bench Viciedo again tomorrow, as he's 0-7 in his career against Masterson. Wise should get the start over him, IMO.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 12, 2013 -> 01:58 AM) To top it off, Courtney Hawkins is 0/3 with 3 K's, Dunn/Flowers look abysmal and our infield defense will be an issue for the next two months. Sigh. Infield defense will be fine, I'm not so sure Gillaspie can't contribute as much offensively as Beckham. Hell, I'd love to see Gillaspie hit well enough to bat 2nd vs RHP.
