  1. 4th inning one of the shortest innings of the season
  2. Wow, infield defense has been great today!
  3. Hell yes, nice double play started by Beckham!
  4. Mercy, Dunn swinging an invisible bat of late. Not sure what's up with his swing, as he looks right on the pitch but isn't hitting it.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 01:04 AM) Another lucky inning for Humber. He is going to get his teeth kicked in here in one of the next couple of innings. I have no idea how he didn't give up a run that inning
  6. This isn't exactly a strong bottom of the order for the Sox tonight. For some reason, I feel like Viciedo/Rios are going to have to be our run producers.
  7. Man, I really hate bunting to set up a situation where you have to rely on Dunn to make contact against a tough lefty
  8. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 11:52 PM) Rongey says something to do with his wrist...vague. Wouldn't be surprising. Seemed he was having a hard time last week getting around on the ball.
  9. Micah Johnson was voted by BA as the 3rd fastest runner in college baseball this year.
  10. DeMichele seems like an offensive-oriented 2b. Not a bad pick, we could use some more infielders in the system.
  11. Blue Jays with a fantastic haul today. Fun first day, I'm really excited to watch Hawkins develop in our system.
  12. Did Sox/Blue Jays share the same scouts? Sox were rumored to like Nay as well.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 04:13 AM) I'll say one thing, if you grade the picks based upon MLB's comps, then the Sox win out (Howard & Kemp). All that said, one thing stands out about both of these guys. They have mlb body types now and great bat speed. It is something that stood out about Viciedo as well. I like the fact that we are getting guys with some upside if they pan out. These two guys immediately become the best power prospects in the Sox system (Sox really didn't have any other then the raw Thompson, unless you look at a guy like Wilkins). And these two have better power potential then Trayce. Agreed, both of them are different type of players than recent high draft picks by the Sox.
  14. I don't mind the Keon pick. The Sox do need some 1b prospects in the system, and they've already let it be known they don't like the pitching depth in this year's draft.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 04:06 AM) Hey, we're extremely light on them right now! We could also use some college graduates (none on Sox roster)
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 04:03 AM) When it is a comp pick too, I am even less surprised the Sox reached. They want to make sure they get a pick (vs. taking a tough sign who they could ultimately get nothing out of if he held out). Blue Jays take 2 guys I liked (STroman and Smoral). Maybe the Sox surprise me though and use the savings later in the 1st 10 rounds. Clearly this pick was a reach (from an overall rankings perspective) but at the end of the day, we'll know more a few years from now. Don't forget the rumors earlier in the week that Sox wouldn't use their entire allotment.
  17. If they don't pick a pitcher, watch it be Renda
  18. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 02:53 AM) Pierce Johnson? Such a white name. Good pick for them, some had him going in the top 20
  19. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 02:51 AM) Daniel Bard's brother to Twins. How 's his control? Better, but he had big injury issues this year. Former Sox draftee M. Grimes did also.
  20. McCullers might have had the most impressive video highlights of any of the pitchers in the 2012 database
  21. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 02:49 AM) Safe bet is college pitcher at 48. Pierce Johnson, Alex Wood, Brian Johnson Jake Barrett, Chris Beck, Brandon Kline, and Pat Light are some names to consider. Beck was supposed to be a top 10 pick, but lost his plus stuff this year. Barrett is a Jenks clone as well.
