  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 12:03 AM) Why do you care do much about what Chris carter does? There have been plenty of prospects that have come into the league guns blazing. Yep, there's a lot of things to question about what KW has done in the past, but the Quentin for Carter trade is a definite winner for KW.
  2. Blue Jays lineup is just terrible right now with all these injuries. No Bautista, Arencibia, Lind or Escobar
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 11:45 PM) I;m guessing it went like this: Viciedo and.... Will Zack sign an extension? No. *hangs up* As well it should be, and I'm thankful he didn't want to sign an extension with the Sox. 5 yrs, 100 million at a minimum is too much for him.
  4. Hellweg and Ariel Pena are the two pitchers involved. All three guys traded are better than anything the Sox have in the minors by some accounts.
  5. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 12:40 AM) No suprise Sox just do not have the horses in minors to pull the deal off. So you're saying minor league relief prospects don't have value
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 11:32 PM) I wouldnt be surprised to see him nab another late inning reliever but it will cost at least Mitchell and one of the younger pens arms in return. And to me, that seems like overkill, especially given Ventura's long leash for the starters.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 11:29 PM) Kenny will win exec of the year if he adds a legit starting pitcher without significant harm to the MLB roster. If he gets a reliever too, then just wow. Might as well nab Chase Utley while you're at it. The bullpen right now is Reed, Thornton, Crain, Myers, Jones, Santiago and one or two others. That is pretty solid and no longer a weakness, IMO.
  8. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 11:25 PM) f***ing Angels... always f***ing s*** up for us. This reminds me of Torii Hunter from years ago. By f***ing s*** up, you mean saving Sox from terrible transactions?
  9. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jul 28, 2012 -> 12:24 AM) Dempster Sounds very unlikely
  10. Seguera and two AA pitchers
  11. I'd guess for Richards and Seguera
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 11:18 PM) Miggy/Prince B2B homers, 2-0 Tigres That Blue Jays pitching is going to be in for a lot of pain this weekend it seems. This is one of those weekends where you're content with not gaining or losing ground.
  13. Darvish has dominated righties this year. It's too bad AJ isn't healthy and maybe Hudson given a start to break up the string of 6 straight righties in the order.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) That might be a good thing. The last thing we need is for him to really f*** up the shoulder and not pitch for another year. Yep, especially considering it's likely he'd struggle when he returns just based on inactivity and strength.
  15. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) I don't think we will be seeing Danks until feb.. Nor should we, IMO
  16. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:28 PM) why are they trying to trade shields if theyre only 2 1/2 back in the wild card? Supposedly he's had a falling out with their pitching coach. Also, he's going to make 20 million or so the next two years, which is a lot for a team with Tampa's payroll. And the final reason is that Tampa wants to be able to use him as trade bait to bring in more talent. Considering Tampa's view on relievers, I can't see them viewing Reed as the prize return in a trade.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 10:23 PM) There's no f***ing way we should trade Reed for Shields. Jones and Mitchell, maybe. I would trade Reed straight-up for Shields, but I'm sure Tampa would want more. As I mentioned earlier, Tampa is desperate for catching prospects.
  18. Zambrano's on the market...oh boy
  19. Flowers facing Yu should be pretty entertaining
  20. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 08:34 PM) Uh. No he wont for the fact he is under control for the next 2 years. If Sheilds is traded the Rays will get a far better pacakage than the Brewers. A team is much more likely to include top prospects for a guy they have for multiple years than a 2 month rental. Pretty logical. I agree with you on this
  21. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) Dempster and his fragile self has never been out of the lowly NL central, furthermore has never been out of the national league. Zach on the other hand has won a Cy Young award in the American League and has a great history against the teams we would have to get through to make the playoffs/WS. And that's not saying the night and day difference in quality of stuff the both possess. Ryan Dempster isn't in the same category as ZG and we all know that. Please stop acting like Grienke is just some ho-hum pitcher. Just like how many have argued this is a career year for Dempster, Greinke's fantastic CY season looks like a career year as well. He's never come close to matching that season. Dempster is incredibly underrated on here if you're looking for a 10 game stretch run from a pitcher.
  22. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 08:43 PM) Bored at work went into Gameday and flipped through the cubs stats. Other than baby Jesus Rizzo that lineup is embarrassing. I did not realize that Soto was under .200. Ole Starlin in the .280's which is good but with that defense and lock of OBP nothignto write home about. It is amazing how much Soto has flopped since his ROY season.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 07:40 PM) The "Travis Wood is the real deal" crowd sure has quieted. ERA nearing 5. Still better than Nestor Molina
  24. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 07:36 PM) Greinke is the only difference maker on the market. Johnson and Garza are a level beneath, don't want either. Why is Greinke considered better than Dempster?
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 07:29 PM) I'm just not sure I wouldn't rather just roll with Humber over a guy like Blanton or the like...Humber looked decent in his first start back, and I'm not convinced he can't show us something...I'd like to see one more start out of him before I give away a decent piece for an average arm at best. I agree with you, but the problem is this weekend isn't exactly a good match-up for him to save his job.
