  1. If there's one thing Cooper excels at, it's getting his pitchers to improve their control. This is just a great trade.
  2. Why do people think a starting pitcher will get traded from the Sox now? We all know Sale will be skipped a lot the rest of the way, and you have a lot of question marks in Floyd/Humber/Q.
  3. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 04:09 AM) I'm okay with this. I see EE as a second division starter at best. Never been fond of Pedro Hernandez. Can't complain about any moves so far. Although Luhnow mentioned that the PTBNL in the Meyers deal will be significant. Escobar has been absolutely worthless against RHP this year. If he's a regular starter for your team, you better hope you have a lot of good offensive players besides him.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 04:08 AM) Who leads off tomorrow if Alexei cant go? If you want someone who can draw walks and steal bases, the choice is obvious: Adam Dunn
  5. This is an absolutely phenomenal trade when you consider what some of these other pitchers are going for. Liriano can be a great weapon against lefty-dominant teams like the Indians.
  6. Wait, that's all it took??
  7. Keenyn Walker to the 7 day DL due to shoulder injury according to chicagosports.com
  8. Does Thornton get credit for a save since it was a 3 run game when the game ended? Who says he can't close!
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 03:51 AM) I do not agree defense bailed his ass out! Last night? Konerko made a nice play on a difficult grounder (not that it was hit hard), and Rios caught a line drive hit right at him. It was nice to see Thornton luck out for once, as he usually gets hurt by bloopers.
  10. 2 of 3 stellar starts for Humber since he's returned, and he's faced 3 of the best lineups in baseball in all 3 of these games
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 03:49 AM) Not really. His defense did it for him. There was only one ball that wasn't hit hard that inning. Who cares, he got the job done against some of the best hitters in baseball (and with little room for error).
  12. Awesome, great job by Humber and the entire team tonight.
  13. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 02:47 AM) MT another inning ..............runs scored again. Thornton did a hell of a job last night of limiting the damage.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 03:43 AM) Gotta love rookie ball. I can't imagine how bad some of these games would be to watch. Basto has 19 errors already.
  15. Nice play by Escobar to get the out.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 02:43 AM) I never thought Matt Thornton would age this quickly. His peripherals are way down from last year. He can't throw the high fastball past hitters anymore like he used to. I don't think people realize just how old Thornton is.

Beck gives up 2 runs in the 4th, but it looks like it was a bunch of infield hits and an error that caused the runs to score.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 03:34 AM) Send out someone like Septimo out there, and have Reed get ready if he puts anyone in scoring positon. I'd go with Nate Jones
  19. I hope Viciedo's left hand/wrist survives this season
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 02:19 AM) Damn Konerko, that was awful. He missed that pitch by a good foot and a half
  21. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 03:18 AM) the replay looks like the ball hit the ground he caught it
  22. The most shocking thing so far tonight is that the Sox had a productive play take place when the Multi-view screen was being used.
  23. Oh boy, it's pretty crazy that they can't figure out what's wrong yet they suggest surgery might be an option. We'll see you in 2014 Danks (and I hope that contract is insured, yikes!).
