6/7 Games
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) At the end of the day, we aren't winning anything if Dunn and Rios don't contribute this year. As long as we are still "in" for this year, Ozzie has to find a way to get them going again. I used to be a big believer in this, but I'm confident Viciedo could put up similiar OPS numbers to Dunn the rest of the way. Viciedo higher average, Dunn higher OBP...similar power numbers. There's not much Ozzie can do to get Rios going again, as he seems like someone who's just fallen off the earth in 3 of the last 4 half seasons.

6/7 Games
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 05:02 PM) Teahen isn't blocking Viciedo, or at least he shouldn't be. I don't want to see Viciedo up to play part time, especially this early in the season where he's going to not get regular at bats the rest of the year. Add him in September on expansion, and if this team by some miracle is in the post-season, you make your tough choices. Right now, unless someone gets hurt or they are willing to release/bench Pierre (LOL), he should stay in AAA. I 100% disagree with this. It's Ozzie's job to find a place in the lineup for him with Dunn/Rios being unplayable. You're not going to want to play Lillibridge 7 games a week anyways, and you can get Viciedo some time at LF, 1B and DH. There's nothing left for Viciedo to prove in the minors.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 03:58 PM) Him and Santos are the ones that I think are likely candidates. Anyone else deserving? I don't think so, not at this point. Humber and Alexei and Quentin

Strained right groin for Jake Peavy
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 02:00 PM) He looked great when he started the game. And that's the frustrating part. He tweaked it on the blown double play in the 4th inning, and then after that, he said he couldn't throw the ball where he wanted to. After the Cabrera at bat, that's when he should have pulled himself (and kept us in the game). If he would have done that, I don't think anyone on here would have faulted him for his decision making.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
One thing that was obvious last night without Dunn and Rios was the quality of at bats by our hitters. Even Teahen hit a couple of deep fly balls.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) Hahahahaha Last night was a turrible hawk night. Also hearing his draft philosophies. Good to know I wasn't the only person who threw up in their mouth hearing him praise pitchers drafted in the middle rounds because that means they had to fight to get there.

Ozzie managed a great game tonight, by the way. I love the hit and run with Morel, as he's a machine with regards to hitting it to the right side.

Official 2011 MLB Draft - Day 2
Please, please let this be the thing that makes Ozzie crack and say something he shouldn't!

Sox Draft OF Keenyn Walker with #47
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 04:54 AM) Was anybody fired the last 2 times he was drafted? Probably not, but he also wasn't the team's first pick. You cannot pick a player in the spot we were in without knowing you can lock him up fairly easily. With this draft by the Sox being extremely underwhelming, that would really be frustrating for everyone.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
Can't believe I was watching an NBA Finals game with how terrible both teams played in the 4th. Oh, and my biggest pet peeve in sports is why don't they show how many fouls each team has on the main TV scoreboard? They show everything else on the screen, yet they can't show a running count of the foul situation?

Sox Draft OF Keenyn Walker with #47
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 10:28 PM) So how many people here are hoping that Walker does NOT sign, and goes to Utah instead? If that happens, someone better be fired.

Great hit and run call by Ozzie. Terrible decision to run home by Beckham, especially with Omar up next. Pierre seems to struggle so much in those situations, but I know his numbers aren't bad.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 01:42 AM) I get the feeling Rios has officially lost his starting job I don't. He'll be back in the lineup tomorrow, and I think Dunn will be back in the lineup against the first A's righty pitcher we see.

After seeing the replay of Lillibridge's catch last night, that could have been just a horrible collision if Quentin also dived.

PK is so great. We need to keep jumping on Felix now, as he seems a little unfocused.

Official 2011 MLB Draft - Day 1
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) However, it's ok to hold that fluke injury against the team when evaluating their draft performance. I don't, and never had. I was ok with the Mitchell pick, and wanted him over Trout, who at the time was projected as Rowand 2.0.

Official 2011 MLB Draft - Day 2
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) Smith was the #8 ranked college catcher in this years draft. Pretty nice upside for a college senior. Wait until some of the people on here see he's a former football player.

Official 2011 MLB Draft - Day 2
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 07:17 PM) We could have the best scouts in the world. I don't know. We haven't developed much. I have a lot of faith in our development people on the pitching side though. Not to cause a debate in the draft thread, but it still puzzles me why people think Buddy Bell is doing some fantastic job with the farm system?
