6/5 vs Tigers
If Jordan4Life comes in here and mentions Summer of 2009, I'm going to throw my computer out the window.

AJP has to be only person in the park who can't tell that Peavy's fastball is tailing right down the plate. I miss the Peavy that had a slider that people missed.

Wow, what a pathetic inning by Peavy. Glad we're paying him a fortune to be a #4/5 starter.

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) The whole inning is on him Peavy hasn't helped himself though. The two outs were made on absolute rockets.

Peavy with just an awful inning. He needs better command if he's going to have mediocre velocity. Sorry guys, he's not an ace yet.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) Lucky that ball did not get up. What's AJ thinking calling on that pitch with bases loaded and how much Peavy's fastball is moving? Peavy is really struggling this inning with his command.

Whew, lucky break right there. That run is on you Alexei.

Peavy's getting a lot of the plate with these fastballs. Has nasty movement today but not the velocity we saw vs Cleveland.
-
6/5 vs Tigers
I'm ok with that walk. Peavy has to avoid a fastball tailing over the plate to VMart here.
-
6/5 vs Tigers
That might have been a strike out on the HBP that wasn't called.
-
6/5 vs Tigers
Pierre's caught stealing seemed to turn around the momentum in this game.
-
6/5 vs Tigers
Alexei's defense has been really lazy this year.

What's the fastest Peavy's been clocked at?
-
6/5 vs Tigers
Longest 1-2-3 inning in history?

Quentin was really off balance in that AB. Strange approach by him

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 07:54 PM) I don't understand running there with a man on 3rd and 1 out. Well I understand Ozzie's thinking there. Alexei has hit into a a lot of DP's. You have a pitcher and catcher who don't exactly strike fear into a base runners heart. But terrible jump/read by Pierre . It was a smart call there, as you have to assume Juan can steal that base against that combination. Penny does throw a lot of ground balls, so Alexei was a 5-4-3 candidate.

Juan's speed was fine on that...only reason it was close. He probably wasn't more than 5 steps off of first by the time VMart caught the ball.
-
6/5 vs Tigers
Yep, that was simply a terrible jump by Pierre on that play. He needs to be smarter there and just stay if he knows he got such a bad jump.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) Exactly The issues that Dunn, Rios and Beckham have/had are pretty easy to see, so I'm sure Walker is doing his best to fix them. I'm sincere with that actually.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 07:35 PM) Watch him on the side view of his swing. I don't think I've seen a Sox player since Uribe whose head was moving so far forwards during the swing. Exactly

Balta, you notice how much Dunn is having to dive across the plate to hit anything on the outer half? He really might be too far off the plate, as he used to have great power to the opposite field.
-
6/5 vs Tigers
Terrible, he gets overpowered by a dancer's husband.
-
6/5 vs Tigers
Lillibridge is so dangerous at the plate. One of the shortest swings from a Sox player in a while.
-
6/5 vs Tigers
Terrible at bat for AJP. All we needed was his token weak grounder to 2nd.
