Forte could have had two TD if he would break a tackle in the open field. Need a TD on this drive.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 24, 2010 -> 06:24 PM) Diamond Head Classic is looking pretty interesting. Washington State, lead by Klay Thompson who I believe is your boy, looks like their for real with wins over Mississippi State and Baylor. Butler and them should make a great championship game. Yes, I love Klay Thompson. He just needs to play well during Pac 10 play, and he'll be a sure-fire lottery pick. He really sucked though in conference play last year. Baylor is SO overrated this season.

Newton's going to be a top 5 pick, especially if he plays well vs Oregon. I've been extremely impressed with his accuracy this season, and his mechanics are so much better than someone like Vince Young.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 24, 2010 -> 05:58 PM) I never said that I would pass on Luck. I'm just saying that Clausen needs more time to develop and adjust to NFL defenses. He's not going to get that on the bench, and Carolina won't get jack for him in a trade until he shows more. Sorry knightni, wasn't referring to you. There was a conversation on the radio yesterday with Mort in which he said Carolina might not take Luck cause of Clausen. The consensus was that Clausen isn't the type of player you pass up a potential franchise QB for.

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 24, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) He's a rookie with less than one season of experience and he's been sacked 30 times. He was horrible in his first year at ND, but got much better. If Carolina gives him more playing time next year, he'll get better. Not every QB can be like Matt Ryan or Sam Bradford and just immediately succeed. He also had an all-world receiving group with Tate, Floyd, and Rudolph playing for a coach who all he did was call for the deep ball. I can't believe there's actually thought to passing on Luck because you think Clausen is going to be above average.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 07:15 PM) I wasn't aware he wasn't a very good shooter. I guess I assumed someone ranked that high who is a G/F tweener would be able to hit the outside shot. He is definitely gonna have to work on that or his potential success in college will be in question, let alone NBA chances. Teams are gonna make him hit that shot so they don't get burned off the dribble or on a drive. Between his attitude and his lack of perimeter shooting, that's why his ranking dropped from top 10 after his soph year to the 25-40 range by the time he graduated. He's more of an all-around player who will likely never average more than 10-11 ppg in college.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) There are some moments when that athleticism does show, but it seems as if tenativeness might holding back his potential for now. Why is he so scared to shoot 3s? Several times he has had an open look and passed on it for a shorter shot. You aren't gonna be a post player in the NBA, you are gonna have to shoot from the outside if you want to become a pro. Are you talking about Richmond? If so, the reason is because he's a bad jump shooter. He was never a good shooter, and the main reason he racked up all the points in high school was the frenetic pace his team played and he'd get dunk after dunk. I saw Richmond play live in high school maybe 10 times, and don't think he made more than 3 or 4 three pointers total.

I can't believe I see people asking to see more of Leonard. He is completey overwhelmed on the court. Tisdale gets such a bad rap, as he was the best overall player for the Illini last night. I thought the overrated duo of Richardson and Paul played terrible last night. Paul's too busy trying to impress NBA scouts.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) Re the pump fake, I completely disagree with you. He's the ONLY person on that team who will do that and open up an easy shot for himself. And after the first time doing it yesterday, Missouri was all over it and kept deflecting his shots under the hoop.

Last night was the perfect example in my opinion on why I don't think Jereme Richmond will be even a mediocre NBA player. He is too much of a tweener, as the only move he has in the paint is that stupid pump fake. He probably could have had 8-10 more points last night if he just went up with the ball, but when you're 6'6" and skinny trying to play in the paint, it's not going to be very effective.

ACC with an absolutely pathetic night. College basketball is terrible this season, I'm watching Missouri as a so-called top 10 team and they look very average.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 04:30 AM) He's basically earned that. MSU is probably like the 4th or 5th best team on the conference at this point. If they weren't able to hold on against Washington, they would be seriously questioning the NCAA tourney birth hopes. His previous history does deserve the respect, but with the player issues last year and now legal issues for his players, you have to wonder if he wishes he went to the NBA?

QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) St. John's is likely not a middle of the pack Big East team. They have wins over NU and Arizona State with losses to St. Bonaventure, St. Mary's and Fordham. St. Mary's is fine, but St. John's will get smashed in the Big East. The loss also proves to me that Northwestern isn't capable of going 11-7 in the Big Ten. If you can't beat St. John's, there aren't 11 wins in the Big Ten to be had. Even then, with an awful OOC resume, 11-7 only puts them on the bubble anyway. St. John's played out of their minds last night though, so it's hard to judge Northwestern on one single game.

You have a very outside chance of making the tourney if you go 6-10 during conference play if you had an out of conference schedule like Gonzaga did this year.
