Bears versus Packers game thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) This is exactly it. I really don't feel bad for him because his chickens have come home to roost. I defended him for much of the year, but it's really difficult to defend him when you see this kind of overwhelming backlash against the guy. I generally think NFL players defend their own, and not too many people are willing to defend this guy. Just makes you wonder what we don't know. Plain and simple, he's just a prick. He'll have a couple of buddies on the team that he can hang out with off the field (ie: Olsen). But besides that, he's just not friendly at all. I don't really care how likeable my QB is as long as he gets the job done and is a good leader.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 06:21 PM) He was playing a terrible game before he got hurt, no doubt. That's actually kind of getting lost in this whole injury controversy. There's still a part of me that thinks he was hurt prior to the game. He just looked two steps slow the whole game. It's kinda funny that Aaron Rodgers seemed at times to be the fastest player on the field.

As ptatc said brilliantly earlier, if Cutler does have a tear, then it's amazing how poorly the medical staff handled the injury in the 2nd half. You saw a guy like Pouncey get hurt yesterday, and they had him on crutches almost immediately.

Ozzie Roast
QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 06:35 PM) That's a perfect way to describe my disliking for Ozzie. I'm no longer outspoken about it though. I've learned to just live with the fact that he's our manager and he's probably here to stay for a while. The thing is, I'm fine with it too....as long as he keeps Oney away from everything relating to the organization.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 04:28 PM) First off Devin Hester is brutal as a WR. The overthrown pass in the 1st quarter was because Hester quit on the route something he and Knox do often. Cutler was visablly upset. No, that was just a terrible pass by Cutler.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 06:44 AM) Jay's not warm and cuddly, but unlike Vick and Rothelisberger and Favre he's done nothing horrifying off the field, yet I guarantee they are more loved. Very true, and as much as a lot of us are pissed at Cutler, the MRI this week is important because a torn ACL could really hurt next year also.

Ozzie Roast
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 05:46 AM) Oblivious to the world around me? Because I don't think this was (is) a big deal? Why is this a big deal? Give me one reason. And to Fathom's comment, Paulie would be long gone if he thought this was a problem. He had a chance to leave and didn't. That to me indicates he does not loathe Ozzie or the soap opera. I don't recall Thornton's quotes being outrageous. Didn't see Beckham's. PAUL KONERKO SAID IT WAS A DISTRACTION! He said this on B&B the day he signed. Did you just choose to not read the comments everyone posted about the interview the day it was held? Thornton was furious about Oney's comments about Jenks. As Rock has said, Thornton is a pretty good indicator of what the clubhouse thinks as he's a great player, person, and teammate. Beckham in the last few weeks said that the team really needs the soap opera nonsense to stop so that they have no excuses if they don't get it done this year.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 05:29 AM) Yet murder a few dogs, and lay on a few screaming women, shoot up a nightclub and you are okay. But enough about Oney

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 05:24 AM) Twitter makes it a new world, that's for sure. I think what IS interesting, though, is how quickly people jumped on him. If nothing else, it proves that people in the league, rightly or wrongly, kind of hate his guts. More than that, they don't respect him. I don't know; he's been pretty tough this year, I think. By the way, I guess Clay Matthews is now saying that the Packers made Jay quit. Who knows what to think? But sometimes guys on the field know . . . When you act like an asshole, you're not going to get the benefit of the doubt. It's pretty much that simple.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 03:50 AM) Isnt a torn MCL not really serious. If Im thinking of the right injury, it was what my roommate/friend had in high school football and played on and it doesnt require any kind of surgery and would only limit deep bending and is treated with a brace. Even if the MCL is completely torn I dont think thats supposed to be that bad. Granted this is just a rumor of what it may be. It's much less severe than ACL...you might be thinking of a meniscus injury.

I'll never understand why teams don't do QB sneaks from the one foot line.

Great post Steve. Outside of Urlacher getting burned by Jackson on a play, he played a fantastic game.

What did Lovie say in the press conference about Cutler?
-
Bears versus Packers game thread
Bears now saying it was their team doctors that pulled Cutler, which goes against what every sideline reporter was saying.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 11:41 PM) Btw someone give lovie aome credit for going to caleb. Btw cutler got imjured on last series in 1st half But Collins should have never been listed as #2 qb after that Panthers game.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 11:33 PM) I'll wait for a diagnosis on Cutler's knee before passing judgement. Easy to make remarks from the couch out of anger. The ACL test is pretty easy to perform. From the sound of it, he passed the initial trainer test. He didn't seem to be limping or anything. Who knows, maybe he had a concussion and didn't want to say anything.

QUOTE (Nyx81 @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 11:26 PM) Have they stated how bad it was? He walked over to his buddy just fine. Maybe he's really hurt but I can't help but feel majorly disapointed in Cutler. I don't think Cutler has any idea about the crap he's about to catch in this city.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 12:24 AM) Exactly. Lovie knows Gould's range better than any of us. It was weird how conservative both coaches were with field goals, yet the Packers punter made it look easy to boom the ball.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 12:22 AM) You just know there will be idiots advocating Hanie over Cutler. The only thing this game proved was that Hanie is the real backup caliber QB. Not Todd Collins. Well said! Huge mistake by Bears putting Collins 2nd on the depth chart. There's also a part of me that wonders if Cutler was injured coming into the game. He seemed just a step slow all game, and not comfortable at all pushing off his back foot. Even the announcers were saying he looked off during warm-ups.

This isn't college....plays like that with Bennett just don't work, especially against such a fast defense.

Peppers getting more TV time than he did during the entire game now.

Knox got tackled on that last play...probably would have been called on Tim Jennings.

Wow, Martz deserves to be blasted for that terrible play with our slowest skilled position player. Nice try Hanie, you showed more balls than Jay Quitter could ever dream of.

Whatever you do, don't do a HB dive. Either a QB sneak or a bootleg.
