One of my favorite things about Daniel Tosh is just how big of a sports fan you can tell he is.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) How was Tosh.0 the other night? With our power outage the DVR obviously didn't record it. Should I bother hunting down a copy on the Interwebz? The redemption part with the National Anthem singer was amazing, as was the skit with the sword.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 3, 2011 -> 05:04 PM) And some of the guys Hoiberg has went after have some serious character red flags. I personally find it pathetic by Hoiberg, and I thought he had more character than that. Right now, he's no different than how Cal was at Memphis or Tark the Shark at Fresno St. It's to the point that if you get kicked out of school, Hoiberg will be interested in you.

Michigan St isn't even trying it appears. I've been saying this for a while, but there has got to be some major issues going on with that program. They keep running off players, but the attitude of some of their younger players is awful as well. Poor Izzo, should have taken the Bulls job.

BPro Top 11 - Kevin Goldstein
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Feb 2, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) Except there appeared to be about zero interest in him at the trade deadline. The only reason Viciedo was up before September was because of the black hole at third. With all due respect, you couldn't be more wrong. Rizzo was obsessed with Viciedo, but KW wouldn't give him up.

Freddy signs with NYY
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 11:54 PM) Might as well include Boone Logan, Damaso Marte, & Nick Swisher in there. Well, maybe not Swisher, he's actually been doing well. Logan was named the best LOOGY in baseball last year by Baseball Prospectus, IIRC

Curry's a better shooter, but Jimmer is a much better driver and finisher. He'll go way before pick 20, IMO.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 05:25 AM) Haven't posted this thread in awhile, but any of that Jereme Richmond s*** that was posted was just that, bulls***. There were major concerns regarding another player but those have all been resolved over the past couple days. Who was that player?

I'd rather take the easy bucket and hope for the offensive rebound. I was blown away by how Ohio St. went to Sullinger in a tied game with under 10 seconds left without even having to use a timeout. You rarely see teams play smart like that.

Sullinger is the 2nd best player in the country, and it's not really even close. I've been really impressed by his poise in the paint, and he showed some signs in that Purdue game of what type of range he'll have in a few years.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 03:41 AM) Arent grades the reason DJ transferred to prep school? Richmond would have to go to Europe if he leaves Illinois. No way he sits out a year as transfer and ge wouldn't even get drafted. I think someone would take a chance on Richmond in the 2nd round. He'd be a terrible fit overseas, as you need to be a superior jump shooter if you're his size over there.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 29, 2011 -> 03:27 AM) Talked to an ex coach of his and mentioned he is not doing very well in class and Europe maybe an option. Interesting...a very well-known chicagoland AAU member said there's no way in hell Richmond goes back next season. Also, some buzz that Richardson is struggling in class as well. He struggled to qualify out of high school He's been very accurate in the past besides telling me Shumpert was UNC bound.

Not sure where I saw this quote, but it's perfect relating to last night: Weber needed that victory, as Illinois is never going to have a game vs Indiana again where the talent level discrepancy is so one-sided. Kinda like how I would have felt if Sampson's IU team lost to Illinois in Bloomington, which they almost did.

QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 04:15 AM) The News-Gazette writer following the Illini recently said that he expects one or more transfers at the end of the season. Bertrand and Griffey seem to be the likely candidates.

QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 04:14 AM) Maybe Richmond could transfer to Indiana and play for someone that can actually coach. If I were Jereme I would leave the tranwreck in Champaign as fast as possible. It's not too late for him to develop into an NBA player someplace else. Unfortunately it might be for Brandon Paul. What an awful job of developing an immensely physically skilled player. At some point, it should be clear why every player on a roster is underperforming. Oh, and McCamey is not even in the conversation for best point guard in the Big Ten. He was thoroughly outplayed by Hulls. Illinois should not make the dance this season -- they are not a tournament quality team. I'd take Battle, Taylor, and Morris over McCamey, and for a true pg, Craft is pretty damn impressive. Hey, at least McCamey is currently better than Nolen and Lucious.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 04:07 AM) I've been saying for a while this was Weber's make or break year for me. He was the perfect coach with the perfect offense for the 04-05 team but since Dee the program has been no where near where it should be. But really even up until last year he got everything out of his teams, getting a 5 seed with a team starting Trent Meacham, Chester Frazier plus Tisdale and Davis as sophomore is remarkable. But his job the last two years has been awful. I've heard the chemistry with this year's team is TERRIBLE! You have a bunch of underclassmen who think they can make the leap to the NBA after this year (Richmond and Paul), and then you have three very inconsistent seniors. Head has been telling some of his buddies in the suburbs that he would have gone to UIC or DePaul if he could have done it all over again.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 04:04 AM) Fire Weber The thing is, it's not like any of the recruits would go elsewhere if he left. Howard's the heart and soul of that recruiting pipeline.

That game was so similar to UIC. Weber better be careful, he might get himself run out of Champaign.

Illinois getting some huge calls from the refs here, but I don't understand why Richardson didn't pass that one off to the team's best shooter when he was wide open.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 04:58 AM) Close game and Illinois bout to lose again. What a surprise. Announcers made a great point, every Illini player didn't seem to want to make a play. It's typical for a Weber coached team under the Illini. If I was an Illini fan, I'd be absolutely furious with how poorly he coached tonight.

Official 2010-2011 NCAA Basketball Thread
What in the hell is Weber doing? His team is dead tired, and with 4 timeouts left, he doesn't call one and instead D.J. Richardson hits the side of the backboard. Any person who's watched Illini basketball knows this team can't play slow-down basketball, yet Illinois continues to take 30 seconds off the shot clock every possession.
