Pierzynski Back; 2 years, $8 million
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 03:29 AM) Flowers can now be traded for a bucket of chicken. Why trade him when his value is at its lowest?

Like Rowand said, this is a very nice deal. KHP, I'm happy for you!

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) Cowley: Many expect PK to be done soon. Let's just sign Chester Taylor, and call it a day!!

Please Paulie, don't go to the dark side. I'd rather you go anywhere but there.

White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 10:52 PM) What did I miss? He said after the VMart rumor that Sox do have a huge offer out, but it wasn't VMart. Then, he kept talking about the Sox landing Dunn. If you know what his connection is to the Sox, you knew this was possible.

RockRaines, you're awesome.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 09:48 PM) FWIW, Heyman is now reporting Cubs may be after PK, but I don't see how the Sox could add payroll Yikes, but I can't see that happening. Carlos Pena makes a ton more sense.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 10:42 PM) Dunn is gonna sign for $4/56M. That's some great work by the Sox brass. And how do you know about the Konerko connection?

Didn't know Oney is considered a Sox player. Anyways, this has the makings of the White Sox version of the Bears first day of NFL Free Agency last year.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) But not during free agency when the guy basically goes to the highest bidder. This is a very unusual way the White Sox have used to acquire high priced guys really since the first couple of seasons of JR's ownership with the exception of Belle. They went after Fisk and Bannister, but since then, they really haven't been very active with the most expensive FA. No kidding, I understand what you're trying to say. Not like I was calling JR or KW cheap, just that we don't usually up the ante to get players. Usually we know what the cost is when we go after someone.

White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) Unless you actually go back and include moves like Rios, where they essentially signed him to a 5 years 60ish million dollar contract by getting him off of waivers, or the Peavy deal, where they not only assumed his contract, but gave up players to do it. Sure it sounds better when you make it sound bad, but the reality is that the Sox have brought in lots of big dollar guys, both from the inside and outside. I disagree, as this is a situation where they went head-to-head with other teams financially to land a player.

Looking back at it, this shouldn't come as a shock after KW's desire to get Dunn last deadline.

Bobby Jenks
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) The issue with this is...what do we do with Ozzie's usual desire for 2 lefty setup men in the bullpen. As much as I don't want to see it, Sale very well might be in the plans to start the season there. I wouldn't count out Leesman as being next in line, as well as maybe a low-level FA signing.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 09:12 PM) How certain are you? I personally love Matt Thornton but I don't think he will be a good closer for the Sox. I think he'd be very good, and heck, a move to closer might help his arm out.

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) I'm glad that they cut ties with Jenks (thank you for 2005), but I hope that they don't go into this year with a closer by committee approach. If Sale isn't a starter, I would think he would be a good option. Who would the White Sox realistically bring in to close from another organization and who is a realistic (and not a pipe dream) free agent that the Sox would bring in? Thornton's going to be the closer.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 08:46 PM) Really fathom, you had to go here first? Actually, it was what I actually thought of him, and it was a shout out to greg for his love of Jenks. The Jenks vs Bagwell at bat in game 1 was the closest thing to Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn that I've ever seen.

Few thoughts: - something we lacked last year in my opinion was a strong sinker ball hitter, which was a void left by Thome leaving. Dunn would really help us with this, especially against a team like the Twins if they retain Pavano. - D. Lee was a player that seemed to get hurt a lot by the wind blowing in a ton at Wrigley the first few months.

Bobby Jenks
Bobby, thanks for your time with the Sox. I wish you the best except for when you face us again. Jeff Bagwell never stood a chance against you in game 1. I love you Greg

White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) At this point, it's probably just a self-sustaining rumor. Oney read one of the earlier tweets saying Dunn had the interest of the Sox, posted that it was nearly finished, then this person posts based on that...etc. That's assuming he can read.

White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 08:40 PM) I wouldnt discount his information that quickly because he's a douche. There are leaks all over the org, and I like it that way. I totally agree, I put a lot more stock into this than if the beat writers said something similar.

The only thing I've heard is Sox are desperate to try and get Dunn to make a decision before Angels are done chasing Crawford and Soriano. Everything still points to Konerko going elsewhere though.

Viciedo in the OF is a bad idea, as the rumor is that he has an extremely difficult time catching fly balls.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) And If I had my way, I would swap out AJP for Russell Martin. But thats just me. I've been wondering if he's an option for the Sox. Not the biggest fan of his, but his value seems low enough to hopefully get a steal.
