We are in the midst of baseball hell. We dont invest enough resources in the draft, so we can build from within. We are kind of cash strapped so reinforcements are not on the way. We are not good enough to beat the twins, yet good enough to meddle around mid level only to piss down our pant leg in the second half. The changes we need to make cant happen because we have an owner who wont go overslot, we have a GM that just goes for it ever year, and we have a manager who falls in love with lefty slappy no talented hitters. Mix in some guys who are coasting and earning a paycheck and you have the makings of something that will break your heart in August for the next few years.
We have a ton of money invested in a pitcher who's coming off an extremely serious injury next season, and a player in Rios who's salary continues to escalate that's going to need a strong finish to the season to keep up the good vibes from the first few months. If those two guys are underachievers, it seems very unlikely for this organization to compete.
