2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 03:51 AM) Every team does it. You have to keep guys fresh. If you watch the Lakers, Kobe sits at almost the same times every single game. And that's why I hate it, as it shows no feel for the game. Carmelo single-handedly gave the Nuggets the lead at the end of the 3rd quarter, and he never got that rhythm back. And it's also a little different when Kobe sits for the Lakers, as he still has an All-Star team on the court when he's out.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 03:39 AM) Can't believe I'd rather have Noah than carmelo... Something I hate about the NBA is the stupid substitution patterns. Karl seemed to give that game away by having Carmelo on the bench until under 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

Nice win, as Noah's defense in the 4th quarter was sensational. Still way too many sloppy turnovers late in the game.

Arizona Fall League
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 11:20 PM) Why? He needs the work. For real...heck, it might be a blessing in disguise he struggled. I would have hated to see the Sox rush him through the system after last year's injury. His swing is still extremely mechanical (like it was at LSU), as he missed an offspeed pitch to strike out in that Prospects Game by about a foot. Seems like Escobar has really exploded the last few weeks, and he definitely had the "look" of a MLB SS.

Buehrle wins 2010 P Gold Glove
That's awesome for Buehrle. He's basically guaranteed to win it as long as he stays healthy now...and Joe West doesn't umpire every game he pitches.

Konerko could end up with one of three, according to Padilla
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 10:05 PM) Again with the hyperbole. I'd call it more like going from pretty good to very good. And nearly every defensive metric has Konerko at the bottom. Konerko is great at throwing the baseball from the 1b position. Besides that, he's about average at scooping throws in the dirt (outside of Dunn, we don't really live in an area where guys like Frank Thomas play first base anymore. Pujols and Barton are insanely good at scooping throws). His range is so bad that I think when we finally see a different 1b play for the Sox, we'll be shocked at how low are expectations were for Konkero defensively moving to his right/left. For those that think Konerko saved Alexei from a lot of errors, Aramis Ramirez owes D. Lee a small country for all the lazy throws he saved him from.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) Would Derek Lee be a defensive upgrade over Konerko? You'd be going from one of the worst to one of the best, especially with regards to range.

Konerko could end up with one of three, according to Padilla
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 8, 2010 -> 08:55 PM) Based on the season he just had, he may command less money than Konerko, and if thats the case, I'd love him on the Sox. If Konerko leaves, there's a great chance Lee signs with the Sox. He wants to stay in Chicago, and Ozzie loves him from his days in Florida. I like Lee, but he showed some signs of significant decline last season.

Nick Roach is a terrible player sf1. I agree that there's good young talent at the skilled positions, but the two Northwestern guys you mentioned aren't players to build on.

Huge play all around on that 3rd and long to set up the TD! Bennett's become our best overall WR too, ironically enough. Come on Peppers, force a fumble here.

Play calling the last few drives has been really, really bad. Running on first down just sets up 2nd and 3rd and long.

What the heck was the play on 2nd down? Looked like they tried to throw a TE screen, but yet no one blocked as if it was a screen.

Sometimes it seems Cutler gets into a mode where you know it's just a matter of time before he turns it over. He threw 4 straight terrible passes that all could have been intercepted prior to that fumble. He had been playing a very good game prior to that string of plays (besides the missed Forte TD).

Why did Lovie call a timeout when the Bills had it on 4th and 2 with less than a minute left? The Bills were seemingly going to run the clock down and punt. Instead, it cost the Bears 7 points.

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Nov 6, 2010 -> 03:55 AM) Am i the only one that thinks the bulls come out horribly sloppy after every time out? They look like a very poor coached team so far this season. Their offense is definitely the bright spot of the team, but it will be interesting to see how that changes when the Human Black Hole returns.

The duo of Bogans and Brewer is really bad. Bogans averaging approximately 2 pts and 2 assists per game as a starting 2g.
