QUOTE (Allsox @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:49 AM) Heard this on Boers/Bernstein and they thought it be might be Carl Crawford coming here with Dunn going to the Rays in a 3 way. Take it for what it's worth but Crawford would fit Ozzie's ideal ballplayer. No, it was just an idea that someone suggested to them. No source, and not a real rumor at all.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:43 AM) So Mike Scioscia is also an A--, because Derek Lee refused to be traded to the Angels? Wouldn't you rather play in the city where you have a 95% chance of making the playoffs/World Series, versus a team that has a 50/50 chance at best to make the playoffs and is missing one of its top starters for the remainder of the season, also knowing that Guillen is likely to leave you at DH instead of allowing you to play 1B in deference to his captain? D. Lee's decision had everything to do with his daughter. Also, this is not the first person to decline a trade to the Sox in the last couple of years.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:29 PM) Oz? Serious question. Who? Yes, Ozzie. Runner-up for manager you'd least like to play for. Personally, I think it's bulls*** as he treats his players very well. However, the reputation he has is obviously hurting.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:29 PM) Well, if I wanted to win a ring, I'd definitely pick the Yanks over us. They have to be the huge favorites. I guess it depends on what his motivation is. Berkman wants his ring this year and then just head back to play for Houston

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) lol@Ozzie the GM. He'd piece together an offense that would make this year's Mariners look like the '99 Indians. For those that are just viewing this thread, it's being reported that Berkman declined a deal to come to Sox.

QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) Lance Berkman=Douche BNightengale #mlb Curiously, Lance Berkman had recently exercised his no-trade rights for possible deal with White Sox before accepting Yankees' trade. When are people going to realize that a certain individual in the Sox organization is causing players to not want to play here?
-
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:22 PM) I don't believe that for a second. Ozzie wasn't being sarcastic there - no way. =P Cowley said he was being dead serious, and that was Ozzie's justification for never wanting to be a GM.
-
And I'm also thankful someone else reported the story on here about how Ozzie wants a roster full of guys that can't hit home runs, and in his ideal lineup, Pierre would bat 4th.
-
Don't know if it was stated on here, but the Myers stuff was supposedly BS.
-
I heard all the stuff on the radio, and my prediction is Adam Lind or Jose Bautista.

How can anyone say KW's made a worse trade than the 2 Swisher debacles??????????
-
How does fangraphs rank all of Jackson's pitches? I know scouts were raving about his slider to start last season.
-
I really think it's likely KW is using people like Santos and Flowers and Morel as trade chips to find a bat, and they really want to keep Jackson in the rotation.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) Did Kenny and his staff take a 5 hour nap after trading for Jackson? I hope KW has a master plan, because as of now, this is a massive fail.
-
According to rotoworld, Yankees won't have to give up any premium prospects for Berkman. Just have to take on his salary.
-
Ugh, hearing that Yanks won't give up any premium prospects to get Berkman really frustrates me.
-
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) Now go get Fat Elvis (and $) and call it a deadline. Sounds like Yankees are going to get either Dunn or Berkman. And as for Jackson, what scares me is that he had a dead arm to start the year, and now he has another dead arm.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:26 PM) Youve been making a strong argument that you dont understand it though. Youve been stating that it doesnt matter, that they can afford it, but you have shown no understanding of the ramifications of the additional salary in which EJax brings. And Im not saying adding salary is bad, I just think his performance will be about the same as Hudson's so when combined with the salary EJax has its an awful idea to make that trade. Why would I give teh Sox mgmt credit if I disagree with the trade? I like that they are proactive, but I would rather have them stay pat if they make bad trades like this. And just because KW has been the most successful GM in your life doesnt mean you shouldnt question his moves or doesnt take away your right to disagree with him. Personally, I'm scared to death of KW trades these days. They've been just awful since the end of 2008.

Yankees to get Dunn? The Rays are convinced that the Yankees will acquire Dunn, Peter Gammons told WEEI.com. Gammons suspects that if the Nationals trade Dunn, the Yankees will acquire him.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:06 PM) So say we acquire Myers for prospects, and it turns out that Myers is pitching in Game 4 of the ALDS, in which we are trailing in the series 2-1 to Tampa. Do you think you would find it incredibly hard to cheer for him then? And that goes to any members of the crew that would like to reply... I can pretty much guarantee that there are worse individuals that everyone has rooted for on the Sox that have done much worse than what Myers did. As you said before, these guys are all a bunch of assholes for the most part.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 08:05 PM) It appears are we are going to lose like 5-6 prospects today and all we will have to show for it is 2 month of Adam Dunn and Brett Myers. I can't say that I'm impressed. Thing is, our prospects absolutely suck. Besides for our last three 1st round picks, there's no one that's been in the system that really projects as anything above average. Guys like Morel probably wouldn't be in the top 10 prospects for most teams, and someone like Jordan Danks would be in the 20-30 range.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 06:31 PM) Buehrle, Floyd, Jackson, Linebrink, Peavy, Pierre, Ramirez, Rios, Teahen, Thornton, Viciedo = $76.45M in 2011 Wow, that's AWFUL

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) Here is what I don't get. If this were really the case... why take the risk of swinging independent trades? Why not do a three party deal all at once? agreed...I think it might be more likely we keep Jackson and then trade some others, like Flowers/Morel to try and get a bat.
