Another cheap home run by Cust. I hate Scott Linebrink...what a pathetic contributor.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:56 PM) Have you taken the time to look at the Reds and Cardinals lineups? Esp. the Reds. The Reds and the Brewers are #1 and #2 in the NL in runs. The Cardinals are 7th. The Cubs are 4th out of 6 offenses in the NL Central. You're arguing that the Cubs should still have the best offense in the NL. Yes, the Reds lineup without Rolen, who might be heading to the DL, has really struggled. They started struggling before the ASB. I know what everyone's numbers are, but when you compare 1-8 in the lineup in the NL Central, I would take the Cubs over the Cards and Reds going forward.

Oh where oh where did my CQ go?

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 11:52 PM) Dayan goes for the 1st pitch. Did he hit it good or not? See that it went opposite field Yes, made pretty solid contact. If Kotsay hit it, Hawk would have been making excuses for him.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:47 PM) I assume there's a lefty on the mound. Braden

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:23 PM) Did 2003 do permanent damage to you regarding the Cubs? lol. They could be 20 games out with 22 to play and you'd be scared that they'd go on a 22-0 run while the first place team went 0-22. I don't care if they win tomorrow. They're are not a threat to the Cardinals. I looked at the match-ups coming out of the ASB, and I thought the Cubs could go on a nice run and get themselves within 5 or 6 games by the end of July. I was/am hoping that they're still around 10 games or so, and that way they will trade off Lilly, etc. I've never understood how the Cubs struggled so much this season, as their lineup is pretty damn good. With Lee and Ramirez coming out of their season-long slumps, they have the best lineup in the NL Central, IMO

Lineup tomorrow predictions: Pierre, Ramirez, Rios, Konerko, Quentin, Jones, AJP, Viciedo, Beckham

Very nice double by Beckham.

Cowley tweets that Ozzie said other teams are asking for way too much in trades. I wonder who we could acquire for Marquez, Betemit, and Nunez?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 11:32 PM) And his strong run was equally offset by his terrible run that helped the team pile up losses. Would you take 1 strong run and 1 weak run from Hudson? I would. That's my whole point. But who's to say Hudson is even capable of having a strong run? But no, I'd rather he just be consistent instead of peaks and valleys.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 11:32 PM) Our OF has to lead the league in steps/crow hops before all throws from the OF Always had, I'm sure you recall me always saying that about Dye.

Seriously, Rios is playing some really dumb baseball out there.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 11:29 PM) We got to 1st place with Peavy 7-6 and a 4.6 ERA. Sure, he could pitch above that level...but that's all he'd done on the season by the time we were in first place. But Peavy's strong stretch helped this team go on a huge run that put them into first place. If this team goes back to playing .500 baseball or less like they were before the 30 game run, then they're in a lot of trouble.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) I don't think many folks truly realize the impact of what losing Peavy for the year has created. It's about way more than him not being able to take the mound every 5th day. Big ass domino effect. I don't think we're going to be able to recover. I couldn't agree more. Easily one of the most crippling injuries I can remember the Sox having. Look at the team now, and there's some huge concerns with #4/5, some bullpen issues, and the usual RF/DH issues. Hudson's now no longer a viable trade chip.
-
Letting Pena start this inning makes me think Hudson might be getting dealt, and Ozzie's trying to stretch out Pena for upcoming spot starts.
-
Yikes, Mazzaro's rebounded from tough two innings to just dominate our offense. One home run combined from Konerko/Quentin since the ASB. It seems like all of the swagger this offense had during the great stretch and prior to the ASB is gone.
-
Jeez PK...really is a fastball only hitter now.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:08 PM) JR has done some silly things b4... like all the money he gave to Belle. Even more reason for him not to.
-
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:04 PM) I wouldn't be totally against Beckham for Fielder... as long as Fielder is resigned long term. Fielder has done more than Beckham. It would suck but to get a hitter of his caliber... man. Imagine that man hitting in the cell. Yeah, I can see JR and KW giving a Boras client nearly 200 million.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:03 PM) I genuinely am feeling like this deal makes us worse this season. Fielder has been worth 3 wins above replacement this season (and has been only slightly below average in the field). Stuck at DH, he's probably worth another 2-3 wins above Kotsay. OTOH, if the 5th starter spot has 10 slots left, if all Hudson does is go .500, compared to Torres or Pena, that's gotta cost us 2-3 wins if we have to give him up. Well said, and I couldn't agree more. Realistically, Luke Scott should be our main target. Also, don't forget that Fielder doesn't really solve the issue that is "Carlos Quentin's fragility".
-
QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) I'm fine with giving up Hudson if we get Fielder in return. In no way would I trade him for Dunn. Who would be our 5th starter the rest of the way (and don't forget the uncertainty that Garcia can hold up the rest of this season)
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:00 PM) Farmer/DJ saying that the Sox look "Tired" today. Very much so
-
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) There is absolutely no way he gives up Beckham, right? someone please tell me im right. I'm confident he won't. What KW needs to do is find a lefty bat that won't require him giving up Beckham and Hudson.
-
This offense really needs a spark. There's been a real lack of hard hit balls lately.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 09:57 PM) And I'm confident he will give up Hudson if he does get one of them. If it's Fielder, that's one thing. If he gives up Hudson or Beckham for Dunn, it will make me hate the front office's decision to not bring back Thome even more.
