As much as I hate to say it, no reason Illinois can't be a top 10 team if McCamey returns. -

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 05:30 PM) Early contenders for top 10 next year? Ohio State Duke Butler Michigan State Purdue Pittsburgh Memphis UNC (If Ed Davis returns) Kansas BYU Kentucky could be at the bottom of the top 10 depending on how much cap space opens up. It all matters who goes pro. Ed Davis has to be long gone, and I wouldn't be shocked if Hayward, Jajuan Johnson, Elliot Williams, and Nolan Smith go pro from that list of top teams. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) I remember hearing that too. DePaul kept going after the big guns they had no chance with, and didn't even contact Barbee, who expressed lots of interest in the job. By the time they were done with their pointless courting of the big dogs, Barbee was already gone. He had the offer of millions from Auburn, and he just couldnt turn it down. Barbee with his WWW connections would have been an amazing recruiter at DePaul.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) What makes you think Hewitt would have taken the job? He turned down St Johns, which is basically the same exact situation as Depaul... St. John's never offered him, as well as Hewitt might be more likely to leave now that Lawal/Favors are going pro....sadly, Hewitt thought both might return.
-
This is what happens when you're more obsessed with finding a minority coach than an actual good coach. Hewitt would have been a better fit for Purnell, as at least he's proven he can recruit in the midwest.
-
They're throwing a ton of money at someone who's never won a tournament game and isn't a good recruiter. Theus would have been a much better hire.

Terrible

Some hilarious e-mails about Jennifer Hudson already out there that are lacking in taste, but they're making me chuckle.
-
BTW, great discussion in here tonight about the game. Thanks everyone, and stay strong palehosefan. Off to watch Gossip Girl.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 04:03 AM) You also give them a chance for a baseball pass without taking any time off of the clock. And then you foul them and make them try and make the first and miss the second when you have a GIGANTIC size advantage down low.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 03:59 AM) You are making a team get a rebound, dribble all of the way up the floor, and get a decent shot off in 3.6 seconds... all without a TO. But you can't give yourself a chance to lose in that situation. Duke's defenders all ran away from Hayward. For all us Duke haters, at least starting Thursday, no one will care about who won the NCAA Tournament.

I think I'm more frustrated about Jennifer Hudson taking over One Shining Moment than the Tourney expanding to 96 teams.
-
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 04:57 AM) Butler has a great system in place and a ton returning, I wouldn't hesitate to put them at #1 if Singler leaves. Still, losing Zoubek, Thomas, and Scheyer is going to be a lot to overcome. I don't even want to think about Kyrie Irving running the show at Duke next year. The Plumlee's with the training wheels can easily surpass the production that Thomas/Zoubek gave them during the season. I'm a huge Irving fan.
-
You suck Jennifer Hudson.
-
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 04:50 AM) I guess the good part is that there's about 25 teams next year that could win it all. College basketball might even be worse next year with a lower freshman class coming in and several leaving early this year in all likelihood. Any chance people put Butler as their preseason #1 if Hayward returns? Duke could also be fantastic if Singler/Smith return.

Memphis and Kansas was significantly better than this game, as you knew you were watching future NBA stars on the court. I'm thrilled the game was close tonight, but I feel like the hype machine is out of control. At least the Sox won!!
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 04:46 AM) Also, did Zoubek miss that last FT on purpose because if so that is unbelievably stupid strategy on the part of Coach K. You never bring a potential loss into the equation in regulation. Make the FT and if they make a prayer to send it in to OT fine, but to give them a chance to win it in regulation is just dumb. Yes, he clearly missed it on purpose. I couldn't agree with you more.
-
QUOTE (3E8 @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 03:44 AM) No one for Butler stepped up enough offensively. Take out Avery Jukes and Butler shot 30%. Veasley missed all 5 of his 3-pointers which if I recall weren't that closely contested Yep, and Hayward didn't make a jump shot all game. Mack hit those 2 quick 3 pointers, but he sucked afterwards. Butler's defense was sensational as always, but their offense the last 2 games was HORRIBLE!
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 04:42 AM) When is a title game ever not played that hard on both ends of the court? Because I guarantee it wouldn't have looked like Butler was playing that hard if they were facing UNC from last year and getting run off the floor. Couldn't agree more...Butler's offense in the 2nd half was pathetic. Not exactly exciting seeing a team score half their points in a half from the FT line.
-
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 04:42 AM) Would that have been the greatest shot in College Basketball Final Four History if Hayward made that? Greatest shot in college basketball history, easily
-
Also, might I add the announcers f***ing sucked. If you didn't know better, you would have thought it was a regular season game based on the last 10 seconds.
-
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 03:38 AM) I can't believe THIS Duke team won the title. What a s***ty year for college basketball. They did have 4 players playing superior basketball in the tournament though.
-
One of the great championship games ever played? Maybe one of the closest, but that game was pretty awful in terms of execution.
-
Wow, that would have been the greatest ending ever.
-
Wow, that shot by Hayward was RIGHT ON!
