2009 MLB Catch-All Thread
MacDougal continues to look good. Also, Masset's pitching in the same game. He looks absolutely awesome this season. 95 mph fastball with fantastic offspeed pitches.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 03:38 AM) His first out was to second base, solid strike on the ball. These stuff type pitchers are just what the doctor ordered. Less thought, more natural ability taking over. And he already makes better contact at the plate than Borchard and Fields could have ever dreamed of.

Sweet, possible DL trip for Konerko. Brandon Allen, come on up!

QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 02:33 AM) Paulie has been playing with a loose ligament in his thumb for a while. Fields will be at 1st for tomorrow. Did they say how long he's expected to be out? I want him back next Tuesday.

One thing all soxtalk can agree on is we love Geoff Blum.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 03:27 AM) You know? That HBP call really cost us the game didn't it? Only if you assume Inge doesn't hit into a double play really. I'm more upset that the 3-2 to Raeburn crossed the plate. Oh, and with Beckham being safe at 2nd, he scores on Getz's single.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 02:24 AM) im not even sure if i'm mad at this point...Verlander was absurd tonight...the sheer fact that he had 17 losses last year with that kind of stuff is mind boggling. Agreed, he's going to win the Cy Young

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 02:23 AM) Would of loved to of seen Wise PH and strike out. I'm sure nobody would of b****ed. Hawk and Stoney were definitely waiting for Wise, as they mentioned the stats.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 02:20 AM) Who do you want, Wise or Nix? Wise...actually, D. Ward. Just like last night, our lack of a lefty hitter on the bench was huge.

What a shocker, Fields strikes out. Ozzie just doesn't know his personnel. And please, send down Gobble and call up D. Ward.
-
6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
No way in hell you let Fields face Verlander.
-
6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
One of the downfalls of bunting is the 1 pitch outs. Verlander's still in the game for the 9th.

QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 03:12 AM) we are a good team that does absolutely nothing right. sorry, that means you're a bad team. We're 13th in RISP in the AL, and when you lack power like we have this year, that means everything.

SOXTALK DRAFT THREAD, DAY TWO
I was told tonight we're confident we can sign Thompson, but Goodwin is about a 10% likely signee.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 03:08 AM) Bone Bruise, the sequel, it looks like, which is unfortunate Hopefully he's back for Milwaukee, as our lineup at NL parks is looking AAA-ish.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
Excellent managing yet again. I can't believe we bunted to get to two guys who look overmatched tonight.
-
6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
Pods would have needed an extra base hit to score Getz with as shallow as they were playing him. Bunting with this team is just so stupid.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
Jenks is warming up...ha
-
6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
Yay, a bunt. Still need a hit to score him.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:55 AM) I feel really good about Danks tonight. A great turnaround from his last start. If PK and CQ are out for an extended period, I don't know if I'd rather have Danks have a real good start like this and we lose or the Sox win 10-7 and Danks looks like crap again. I think I'll take this outcome.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:52 AM) I thought last year was the worst year I've seen by umpires calling Sox games until this year, this is by far the worst, and that first pitch to Beckham was just awful, my god. That's something that has to get cleaned up as the year goes on, even yesterday there was a check-swing strikeout against Konerko that wasn't even f***ing CLOSE to being a swing Oh, and I think the 1B umpire yesterday that called Konerko out on that check swing is the guy behind the plate tonight Yeah, he needs to be talked to from his higher-ups, this is uncalled for As Hawk and Stoney are saying, no one is complaining, so I guess our players/coaches agreee with the call.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
Would it kill someone on the Sox to ever argue a close call? We have really got the short end of the stick in this series from the umps.

2009 Cubs thread
Seriously, does Lance Berkman own stock in the Cubs or something?

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:45 AM) Thank god we bunted BA over to third in the 6th. Otherwise, we would have had 3 outs to strand that runner. I'm fine with that bunt, all things considered.
