  1. 3-2 now, as Lincecum gives up a 2 out single to the pitcher. If the Cubs win this game, then the baseball gods really do hate me lately.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2009 -> 12:51 PM) They also traded a great young hitter Mark Texiera in a bidding war, and not Javy Vazquez after another late season blowout. The difference in returns is to be expected. Oh yeah, in no way was I saying that the Rangers got a steal and we got screwed. I don't mind the Javy trade at all, and think Flowers will be a huge part of this organization for the next 8 years. Saltlamacchia hasn't even looked that good so far, but Neftali Feliz is one of the best prospects in baseball. Harrison has potential to be a good starter as well. You typically don't see the Braves fleeced as much as this.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) So I guess they did underexagerate after all Why, cause they initially thought it was a cramp when they went out to check on him? They were pretty open on Sunday after the game about him going to get an MRI and that he'd probably go on the DL. BTW Lou, this is why you should never, ever let your pitcher PH in a game in which you don't have to. I know Zambrano had started this game, but he's been letting him PH numerous times. The risk is just too great.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) The best players in the deal are not in Chicago yet. I don't think there is anyone who would have said different from day one. Seriously, the Javy trade was to get Flowers, and the rest didn't really mean much. As for the Rangers-Braves trade, the Rangers got a hell of a lot more than Andrus. That was an amazing trade by the Rangers.
  5. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 5, 2009 -> 02:01 AM) Where do you get this information on where the minor league guys hit the ball? Caulfield listens to every Barons game I believe.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2009 -> 02:01 AM) Beckham (2B), Ramirez (SS) and Shelby/Danks >> Beckham (SS), Getz (2B), Ramirez in CF Ramirez is better than Beckham at SS, Beckham is/can be equal or better than Getz at 2B and both of our young outfielders will be much better defensively than Alexei in CF. Getz is a quality player, and he could make either a solid #2 hitter or a potentially great #9 hitter.
  7. Pods really is option E in CF A- Owens (flunked his exam in ST) B- Wise C- Anderson D- Lillibridge
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2009 -> 02:52 AM) I still have high hopes for Getz and Nix, although I see no possible way they all fit into a future picture with Ramirez and Beckham in the middle infield. Moving either Getz or Beckham to 3B makes them much less valuable, although we could probably live with Gordon at 3B. The only way we can capitalize on our young position players and putting them at the position on the field to get the most value from them is Getz at 2B, Beckham at SS, and Alexei in CF. If you put one of them at 3B, they lose so much of their value (especially Beckham).
  9. QUOTE (scenario @ May 5, 2009 -> 02:52 AM) ^^^^^^ Funny how we didn't hear much about Walk when we were 6th in MLB in runs scored last year. We heard a lot about him when Ozzie basically feuded with him.
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 5, 2009 -> 02:41 AM) So who's gonna start the "WAS IT OVER WHEN THE GERMANS BOMBED PEARL HARBOR???" thread? What, no "In or Out" thread?
  11. The more I think about it, the more I just want to be entertained by the White Sox this season. I had no championship aspirations for this roster, but at least be competitive in every game and put together good at bats, etc. Hopefully things get better soon, and the games are more enjoyable. That will relieve a lot of the tension on this site and Caulfield won't have to start another new thread every other day.
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 5, 2009 -> 01:33 AM) The Plan was to trade Dye for Bailey and an OF prospect. So, i believe he would be replaced in the event of trade. No, the plan was to sign Abreu if the trade occurred.
  13. You keep Thornton, and trade Jenks if you're out of it come the deadline. Dotel is definitely a quality trade chip, but Linebrink isn't going anywhere with his contract. I think Dye's the most likely player on this roster to get traded.
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 5, 2009 -> 02:22 AM) and FWIW, it's WAY too early for freaked-out threads like this. Yes and No. There's still so much time left, and we were in the same position we were in last year. Also, if Quentin and Thome hit a combined .225 this season, then it's not meant to be. I do agree KW should be ashamed of the pathetic lineup that's been on the field the last couple of games. No excuse for Lillibridge/Pods to be on the MLB roster. If he would have put one cent into improving this year's offense, then maybe he could honestly say he tried his best.
  15. So the Sox are reluctant to play Betemit at 3B....unreal. Nice trade Kenny http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-0...0,4996028.story
  16. Ah, the old vote of confidence for Walker. It's like groundhog day. When you have to give a coach a vote of confidence every year, maybe it's time to go in a new direction: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...-050409.article
  17. How deep was Aurilia's fly out to end the game? Another play that yahoo says was a deep fly out.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 5, 2009 -> 01:45 AM) Because I'd rather score a run than none. There's also the possibility of Podsednik beating out a bunt. Granted, he was 2-2 before that point and swinging away wouldn't have been the worst idea. There was another instance today when Pods lead off with a double and Lillibridge then struck out. Hello Ozzie? Bunt? Lillibridge can't hit for his life and you have him swinging the bat? Ugh... With how good Greinke was pitching, you have no idea if you'll get another chance to put up a crooked number. You never, ever give up the first out when you're trailing by more than 2.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 5, 2009 -> 01:35 AM) Why didn't Ozzie at least bunt with Pods in the 8th? He's probably the only one on the team who can do it well. WHAT HAPPENED TO SMALL BALL WHEN YOU SHOULD USE IT? I was telling my friend, who I was b****ing to, that we need to bunt here. I don't care if we would only get two runs on a single, I want a freaking bunt. Turns out the bunt would have been more useful than Pods swinging away... Why in the hell would you bunt with 2 on when you're down 3 against CY Greinke? That's a good way to get fired.
  20. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 5, 2009 -> 01:36 AM) Hopefully if this keeps up all year KW will break up this home run or nothing softball team..... Yeah, so we can get more players who are fast with little hitting ability!! That's especially useful in the summer at the Cell.
  21. Clayton Richard would be the replacement starter, especially after a solid outing tonight.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxmanager @ May 5, 2009 -> 12:29 AM) who didnt know that was going to happen? We deserve it. Please KW, Lillibridge seems like a nice kid. Send him down and let him show he can hit over the Mendoza line against Minor League pitching.
  23. Nice AB for Nix. Put him at SS tomorrow and let Alexei play CF. We can't keep dicking around with these horse s*** lineups.
  24. Some people will point to his two hits tonight, even though both of them should have been easy plays for KC's defense. It's not Podsednik's fault though. He has no business still playing in the majors, but KW tried to get cute and go the nostalgic route.
  25. QUOTE (chiguy79 @ May 5, 2009 -> 12:12 AM) ahhhhhhh....the legend of scott podsednik....speed kills!!! Pods didn't run through the base...at least some things never change.
