Nice pitch by Colon. Pods 1 Sox 0

QUOTE (chiguy79 @ May 4, 2009 -> 11:44 PM) Oh wait, once Dewayne Wise comes back we will be a powerhouse. Wise is a superstar with the bat compared to Pods/Owens/Lillibridge

QUOTE (chiguy79 @ May 4, 2009 -> 11:43 PM) It is just pathetic that the sox can't get better OFs than Podsednik and Lillibridge, I think we need to start a season ticket holder write in campaign or something because it is just ridiculous to have such crap on the MLB team when the fans fill the park and paid the 10% increase in ticket prices to get rewarded with a team that is substandard. Who says they can't? Maybe that's just who KW and Ozzie want on the team? For everyone out there who complained we only score via homer, I hope you can appreciate this type of lineup.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ May 4, 2009 -> 10:41 PM) Pods should not be anywhere near this team, this team is awful. While this team isn't awful (yet), couldn't agree more that he shouldn't be anywhere near the team. It's a f***ing joke.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 4, 2009 -> 11:40 PM) get this 1-2 pitch off the plate bartolo, otherwise it'll be another double It's AJP catching...of course it's right down the plate.
-
And Pods makes an error in RF. Screw you Ozzie and KW. This game's just about over.
-
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 4, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) DP would be nice here Pitching away from the defensive positioning there by giving it to Jacobs on outer half.
-
Greinke's making our hitters look silly on his breaking pitch. The advanced scouting with regards to the Sox is definitely saying "throw a full count offspeed pitch".
-
Was Thome close to hitting it out?

QUOTE (kristofer @ May 4, 2009 -> 10:25 PM) i don't understand why ozzie won't use ramirez in CF, nix at SS, getz at 2B and fields at 3B. obviously fields is hurting right now, however that should be the line up all year round. it gives us our most potent offensive ability. Because the Sox think Alexei is their SS for the next 5 years.

Good first inning for Colon.
-
Another great offensive first inning. 7 straight games without a run in first.

Brian Anderson is going to be in a movie, as will Brandon McCarthy. http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/mlb-players-...hollywood-23655

I spoke of the Sox game plan, so how about the Royals game plan. What if Hillman decides to pull Greinke after one pitch, and bring in HoRam? Ozzie would immediately have to put Betemit in the game for Getz, and then the Sox would have no position players left on the bench that don't have hand injuries besides Corky.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 4, 2009 -> 08:23 PM) I don't remember seeing this "revealed" anywhere. Insider? Or did I miss something? Yes, sorry...a wedding in Raleigh over the weekend.

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 4, 2009 -> 07:14 PM) Where does Contreras go? Bullpen, DFA? Personally, I think in the pen, Contreras can be a decent middle man. I don't think his arm can handle starting anymore, but an inning or two every couple of days could be just what the doctor ordered. It seems to me whenever he starts, he starts out with solid stuff, but quickly fades and loses effectiveness on his pitches and control. DL probably, and then he'd get some rehab starts and be given his rotation spot back (just an assumption).

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 4, 2009 -> 08:10 PM) i still don't get why pods doesn't go back to LF, and Q to RF, both positions each has played before. Can't wait to see that cannon in RF tonight. If i were the royals i would try to turn every hit into RF into a double, until he throws someone out. Cause as much as I hate the fact we're not changing it up for these few games, you'd rather just keep Quentin in LF and Alexei at SS with Dye's injury being a known factor. If Dye was out for a month, then you probably would see this change.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 4, 2009 -> 08:12 PM) don't you get the sense some payback is coming? Didn't hawk say something about seeing them again in a few weeks? No, I don't get that sense, as Ozzie has been a pansy about retaliation so far this year. I'm not one for managers having to try to provide a physical spark to a team, but Ozzie's been way too calm this year with retaliation as well as arguing with the umpire.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 4, 2009 -> 07:09 PM) I highly doubt it. More likely, if JC sucks AND Richard is the starter taking over, we'll see Gobble or maybe Williams to give Ozzie another lefty. Carrasco and Broadway are doing long relief too, no need for a third. The Sox LOVE the idea of having a starting pitcher get some time in as a long reliever prior to joining the starting rotation (the Mark Buehrle approach). A member of the Charlotte organization revealed on Saturday (even before the Contreras debacle) that they've been told Poreda would never pitch there and won't stay in B'ham all year.

Prison Break has been a clusterf*** for about 2 years now, but last Friday's episode was fantastic! Also, my wife and I still watch Harper's Island. It's entertaining crap on the tube with some attractive females.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 4, 2009 -> 05:38 PM) pitching to their potential, i still see the sox as having a better 1-5 than the tigers, or anyone else in the division. That is, pitching to their potential. If Contreras is really done, as the numbers seem to suggest for the last two years, then no. Pitching to their potential is probably not a good phrase to use, as the Tigers have a starting rotation loaded with potential. Verlander, Galarraga, Jackson is looking like a pretty good 1-2-3 for them, and then you have the big time arms in Bonderman/Porcello. Contreras' potential this year, even if he turns it around, is being around a 4.50 ERA pitcher. He just doesn't have the 93-96 mph velocity he used to have.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 4, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) Huh? Why would that be? Crap, meant to say if Wednesday isn't postponed (heard there's a good chance of it). If Contreras bombs again, Richard would move into rotation and Poreda would take over for long relief.
-
You want a good game plan for tonight? Have Colon drill a Royals hitter up and in during the first inning. With the bad blood from the first series, as well as last year, that could be effective in getting Greinke away from the inner half.
-
Outside chance this is Poreda's swan song in the minors, especially if the Wednesday game for the Sox gets postponed.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 4, 2009 -> 07:35 PM) Getz 2b 1-4 Nix 3b 0-3 HBP Quentin lf 1-3 HR HBP Thome DH 0-2 2BB Konerko 1b 0-4 Pierzynski c 1-4 2B Ramirez ss 1-4 Podsednik rf 0-3 BB Lillibridge cf 0-3 Prediction for their performance tonight. I forsee a 6-1 KC win with Sox getting 4 hits, 1 run. CQ hits a solo homer in the first inning.
