  1. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) the homerun approach NEVER EVER works in the playoffs we need more balance in our lineup for sure yes i'm aware the phillies won against the brewers with homeruns today, but they do all of the other things right when facing a pitcher that they can't square up Didn't the Phillies lead all of baseballs in walk this year? Also, they steal at a 90 pct clip. Even Werth was 20/21 stealing this year.
  2. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 10:35 PM) Phew, Dye's still bad Yeah, that 4-5 last game sucked.
  3. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 10:35 PM) How 'bout a Hudson/Ramirez double play combo??? Yeah, I'm not ready to talk about next year just yet. Hudson will likely be with the Yankees. Even if they don't sign him, he wants like 12 mil a season.
  4. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 10:33 PM) It would of been better to put Ramirez up in front of Dye. I understand he doesnt have an OBP worthy of it. But he is a fastball hitter, and would use some protection from Dye. How about a Roberts/Ramirez double play and 1-2 combo next year? However, I expect the Cubs to acquire Roberts.
  5. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) Harold: Wise is not a speedster. Yes he absolutely is. Maybe the best base stealer we've had this decade, and one of the fastest Sox players of the decade as well.
  6. I can't wait to see a brand new 3rd baseman on the Sox next year. I'm sick of the Crede/Fields/Uribe connection.
  7. Ugh...that was such a weak swing by Uribe. He swung like it was an 0-2 pitch.
  8. Great eye by Wise! No bunts here...try a hit-and-run instead.
  9. OC completely botches the grounder, but gets lucky it sticks to his armpit.
  10. QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) I think it's the players too. Jesse Rogers was on the Score and asked Dye what Garza would feature. Dye didn't know who he was or what he threw. Dye has actually faced Garza before so how the hell did he not know him? Greg Walker is a bad hitting coach...not more needs to be said.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 10:15 PM) Smart pitch to Alexei. He was on that fastball. Two things that stand out so far about our hitting this series: - way too many hitters are out in front of good pitches, and are hitting meatballs foul - too many strikes taken while swinging at balls
  12. So get this....CB Bucknor was going to lose his job 5 years ago, and after being informed his contract would be torn up, he threatened to hire a lawyer on the basis of racial discrimination. That information is from some of his colleagues while in the International League.
  13. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 09:07 PM) he's plenty good. Playing with a messed up shoulder for the entire season. I meant this season, sorry.
  14. It seems like every game we've played Tampa this year, Iwamura has dominated us. Of course, our pitchers continue to hang every offspeed pitch they throw him.
  15. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) we're lucky that Upton is having a horrible series. He's just not very good.
  16. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 09:03 PM) does anyone here seriously think we have a chance to win this game? yes
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) I'm nervous. I am overly critical when I am nervous. I will b**** about every little thing. Good thing I never do that.
  18. QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) Every time a ball is hit to left, I feel like Wise isn't anywhere near it. I'm curious if he ever positions himself for the hitter. They position him more towards left center due to the statue in CF.
