  1. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 04:28 AM) Crede couldn't stay healthy with the Sox. You really think he is going to last the whole season playing on the turf in Minnesota? Let OC go be a cancer with the Twins.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 04:28 AM) Well, the problem with that is...what do we do about SS this offseason if we don't want to move him from 2nd base? No matter how Cabrera's perfomed down the stretch, he's not coming back with the way he's fit in with this team, let alone for 3/$30 or more, and I'm not sure what other options there are out there other than, God Forbid, Uribe. J.J. Hardy? The more I think about it, I'd like to see Sox sign Grudz for pretty cheap for 2nd base, move Alexei to SS, and focus on 3b/CF/SP. Use Vazquez, Fields, Swisher, Poreda, Dotel for trade chips.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 04:26 AM) If we had an outfield of CQ, Torii Hunter and Dye this year with Lexi at ss and Richar at second base would we have won it all? No, we wouldn't have made the playoffs. Richar is a terrible baseball player.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 04:16 AM) -- I don't want to play against Cabrera 18 times and definitely not Crede 18 times. You do realize we'll get the Twins first round pick?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 04:21 AM) I don't know if there really is an "Expert" opinion. The expert opinion on Alexei coming in to this season was that he was a career backup, and he's been nearly all star worthy instead. What we keep hearing is that 2nd base is his 3rd best position, with SS as #1 and CF as #2. But like all things...you believe it when you see it. I think it will be a big mistake to move him from 2b to SS, as he's struggling enough at 2nd base. One of his greatest assets is his ability to turn the double play with the strong throwing arm from 2nd. I don't think he's very good diving for the ball, and he doesn't seem to field balls going well from side to side.
  6. I could see the Sox trading Vazquez to the Brewers for Hardy. Another option I thought of today was buying low on Rickie Weeks.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:52 AM) Answer me this: Am I anal or is anybody else mad we didn't score OC from second on the single in the first? I know we got two whole runs, but I think OC chugging in from second might have made us a bit more aggressive in trying to knock out Kasmir early. Am I a moron and should this idea leave my brain immediately? Or was anybody else perturbed by this? His ankle was bothering him, and you can't risk making the first out at home.
  8. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:18 AM) Buehrle pitched a great f***in game. No, he really didn't. It was a decent game, but nothing special.
  9. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:37 AM) Even if we get swept on Sunday, remember that at least we're not the Brewers, Cubs How so?
  10. QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:35 AM) You can call me a homer if you wish, but I truly feel that our crowd Tuesday has been the most electric out of all the crowds thus far in the post-season. They were geared up and ready to go from the first pitch all the way until the last out. I do take pride in that fact. It was....it's honestly one of the best days of my life.
  11. Let's give the crowd a strong effort, as they deserve it for Tuesday.
  12. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:29 AM) Hell, a week from now we'll probably be pretty darn content with how the season went. I'll be honest....the Sox making the playoffs and the Cubs not winning the World Series = successful baseball season It's not that way every year, but with the way things were supposed to go, if the Cubs don't win the WS, I'll have fond memories of this season.
  13. QUOTE (Reddy @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:24 AM) i like: Buehrle CQ Danks Floyd Lexi Swisher (i actually do. oddly enough) But otherwise... blow this team up. I love Matt Thornton, Jermaine Dye, and Konerko
  14. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:23 AM) What he said. Of all the players I won't toss under the bus, one is Paul Konerko...without him we dont have a 2005 flag. And I'll support him without condition until he is no longer a member of our team. Buehrle and Konerko are my 2 favorite Sox players of all time...no surprise they were awesome in 2005 and down the stretch this year.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:22 AM) His September arguably got us into the playoffs, single handedly. Are you a moron? I think he needs to take a step back and have a beer tonight.
  16. QUOTE (That funky motion @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:21 AM) I love the White Sox but I dont love this team. CQ, danks and Floyd made me like it a lot. I love them for the memories they gave me on Tuesday. 10 years from now, we'll remember the tiebreaker and barely remember what happened in the ALDS (if we lose).
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:20 AM) I think some of you guys forget how HOT we got in 05. I remember thinking during the playoffs with the offense "who is this team" We were hitting opposite field hits, opportunistic as hell, it was fun. BUt it's not like we were constantly like that all year. That team was also better than everyone else in the playoffs. This year, I don't know if there's a single team we're better than (without Quentin/Crede/Contreras).
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:17 AM) Dye did. Yeah, even though that AB in the 4th was bad.
  19. This wasn't the bullpen's fault. Buehrle should have never started the 8th inning. By brining in Dotel with Crawford on 1B, you were basically letting him walk into scoring position with no outs. Name me one person who had a good game? I can't think of anyone besides Dye. Oh well, hopefully they give us a thrill at home.
  20. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:15 AM) Tim Lincecum will NEVER be available, EVER, at least not until he's a FA or washed up. YOU DONT trade pitchers like that, your build around them. The Giants like Matt Cain more than Lincecum.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:14 AM) Really? I've see "trade Quentin, sign manny, trade thome" None, 0, nun of those are even remotely possible. You really want manny on this team? Nobody is going to take Thome unless we pay his entire salary. And I wont even respond to trading a 26 year old MVP. Stupidity, turn the game off, we won the AL central with 3/4ths of a team. There will be no fire sale. Stop posting, calm the hell down, take a breath and grab a beer. If you would have read the earlier posts, everyone but one person was saying there shouldn't be a fire sale. And yes, I would trade Quentin for Lincecum. Lincecum is one of the best young pitchers this decade, and Quentin just can't seem to avoid the injury bug. I'm Quentin's biggest fan (hell, I want to name my first kid Quentin), but yes, I would take Manny in LF if it meant adding Lincecum.
  22. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:14 AM) Our offense and bullpen takes a s*** once again... This was a total team effort. Not one person had a good game.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 01:13 AM) Fathom- you're the best at making trades that look dumb, yet upon further review they actually make sense. So- make up a potential trade partner for PK and what we could get back, would ya? Remember this about Lincecum...the Giants were close to trading him for Rios. If they sign C.C., they might be willing to trade him.
  24. On the bright side, PK's huge September made his trade value legit again.
  25. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 02:10 AM) hahahahah, man this place turns into a freak show during a loss. Do you guys call in to the score with these retarded ideas too? It was a legit post. Absolutely no reason for you to post this.
