  1. Huge strike out for Danks in terms of momentum. And we might as well not look at Twins scores this wknd...that's about as obvious of a sweep as you'll see.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) Alan Embree is the worst lineup reader ever. I'm sure Devin Hester would be worse.
  3. Someone please explain why we move Swisher up to the 2 spot against LHP when he hits below .200 against them? I don't get it...it's like we want CQ to hit solo homers.
  4. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) When is Griffey going to launch one? It sure won't be against a lefty pitcher
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 08:02 PM) Must be a lot of leftover agitation from last night's game. Why, what's up?
  6. What a shocker, no Brian Anderson OC, Swisher, CQ, Dye, Griffey, PK, Ramirez, Uribe, Hall
  7. I was getting a kick out of watching the race walk last night.
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 07:03 PM) You have to remember that two of Thornton's runs came at the beginning of his fourth consecutive inning against Detroit, and I really don't hold him accountable for what happens after he's left out there that long. Does anyone else feel like Wasserman gave up a ton of cheap hits? Lots of cheap hits because Wassermann doesn't strike anyone out. In order to beat a ROOGY in the majors, you need to have a good slider. So far this season, Wassermann's been throwing almost primarily inside fastballs.
  9. I'd like to see this lineup: Beckham Ramirez CQ Dye Konerko Griffey Jr. Anderson Swisher Hall
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 05:17 AM) The U.S.A. baseball team comes from behind to beat Canada 5-4 in what was basically a must win game for both sides. Also, the United States is now 7 medals ahead of China but 11 behind in golds. It is pretty clear the Chinese will take the all important gold count while America will take the overall count. Also, it's good to see the track and field stuff getting going, always fun to watch that. Bolt's sub 10 second 100M was ridiculous.
  11. Ozzie really has to stop playing Swisher against LHP. Sub .200 batting average and near .700 OPS.
  12. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 05:05 AM) I'd like to see us actually learn how to pitch to friggin Cust who seems to be the only guy on that team that hurts us consistantly (besides Street). AJ was terrible calling the game tonight in critical situations too IMO. s***...now I'm gonna have to go to bed pissed off. I'll have a crappy night's sleep. I won't enjoy the sports page tomorrow morning. And on top of that I'll get f***ed out of tomorrow's game because I think it's FOX. Good thing I don't have a dog or I'd probably kick it in the ass about right now. At least we don't have to listen to Hawk tomorrow.
  13. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 05:02 AM) This was very reminiscent of the Twins series at the dome...getting beat by the 2 guys in the lineup who can beat you. I understand that Oz is reluctant to give free bases; we've seen numerous examples since he came on board. But ya know, it's never too late to change your strategy and pitch around/IBB the guy in the lineup who can hurt you. Like I said in the game thread, Ozzie needs to treat Cust like he would Matt Stairs.
  14. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:58 AM) He gave up one dinger (2 runs)...what the hell else do you want. Dotel pitches one friggin inning and gives up just as many runs. Damn... Personally I'd rather have stretched Thornton another inning. But in hindsight...if this team scores more than 3 runs...in one goddamn inning Floyd wouldn't have been yanked. Every damn game this team scores run(S) in the first inning...it's sure as s*** they won't do crap for the next 6 or 7. I'd like to see him go at least 6 innings against a bad hitting team. He "deserved" to give up like 5 runs tonight. However, it's a testament to how far he's come this year. Last year, we would have been happier than hell for him to go 5 2/3-1 ER.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:57 AM) The game was lost before that, and even before the 9th inning. The Brian Anderson baserunning play, Uribe's error giving them a free run, Octavio Dotel's pitch selection, even Alexei falling down at 1st base. We just gift wrapped this one. Yep, it was the typical Sox loss at Oakland. I know this is nit-picky, but why was CQ playing Suzuki so far off the LF line? I thought Suzuki's foul ball was going to be an easy play for Quentin. With Carrasco's sweeping offspeed pitches, you need to play the line more.
  16. Why couldn't the A's have just called for a squeeze?
  17. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:50 AM) pathetic effort all the way around. Floyd deserved better. Good team don't lose to s*** teams at this point in the year. Absolutely embarrassing. I hope these guys are embarrassed...they should be. I really have no faith in this team the rest of the way out. I have a prediction right now..Gio will make this team look ridiculous. No, Floyd really didn't deserve better.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:50 AM) You do realize this division could come down to one game right? And that if we lose two out of three this weekend, it's because of that game. And that Minnesota is now tied with us instead of one game back because we just gift wrapped a win for Oakland and begged them to take it. But sure, if we win tomorrow, and are forced to play a rubber match Sunday instead of look for a sweep, this game doesn't matter. Ok. Considering how awful the Sox have looked at the Twinkie Dome this season, my philosophy is we're 3 games back in the standings but we don't play the Twins again this year.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:49 AM) This loss is irrelevant if we go out and win tomorrow. I like the optimism!! This team has to start playing better baseball on the road. Way too many blown leads and poor defense.
  20. Does anyone know what our bullpen ERA is since the Joe Morgan debacle? I'm all for using Thornton for 2 or 3 innings in games where he has it rolling. Also, if we can't trust Getz at 3rd base, then get Fields back on the big league roster. It's embarrassing that Uribe had to face Street in the 9th. Street is the exact type of pitcher that dominates Uribe.
  21. Nice pitch....high fastball in a sac fly situation. What a terrible job by AJP tonight.
  22. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 04:42 AM) Wow, right at his goddamn face. That almost looked intentional. Maybe not to hit him, but in case of a squeeze.
  23. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 05:40 AM) The A's are a truly awful baseball team, and momentum is tomorrow's starting pitcher, so we won't get swept. The problem is, this is yet another in a long, long list of games that we've given away if the likely result occurs in the next 5 minutes. If there is a team that has given away more should be wins than the Chicago White Sox, I'd love to know who they are. This team is so damn stupid, and although I can't blame Ozzie for many tactical decisions this year, the blame has to go to him (as well as Kenny Williams to a certain degree) for having a stupid ass ballclub. I don't blame Ozzie for tonight...shocking
  24. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 16, 2008 -> 05:38 AM) wish we had someone in our pen that could strike someone out, now that a runner is at 3rd base I wish we had someone in our pen, besides Jenks, who can actually throw a quality offspeed pitch.
