  1. Big inning for Buehrle to keep the Mariners off the board. We're not done hitting homers tonight.
  2. Washburn really is the perfect hitter for Brian Anderson's swing. It's too bad he didn't get the start. Edit: to not play in place of PK or Swisher, of course!
  3. There's one! Nice job by PK....Buehrle retiring Ichiro with a man on 3rd and one out could be a big play in this game.
  4. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 19, 2008 -> 12:37 AM) Why does it matter whose fault it is? Aren't you taught from Little League on up to always check with the 2b/SS to see who's covering? If Buehrle didn't do that, then shame on him.
  5. Got home in time to see a disappointing score. Our middle infield defense is very overrated. This is a must win game with the bad match-up tomorrow.
  6. Sounds like it's going to be Clayton Richard. All I have to say is tonight is a must win, as Richard vs Felix Hernandez is not promising.
  7. Surprised no one said Spanky LaValliere yet. Also, automatic ban to the person who says Jose Paniagua.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) People who complain that the loser threads are longer than the winner threads don't understand the nature of sports. Any coach will tell you that there is a lot more to digest and analyze when you lose a game than there is when you win one, and that is true. When you lose, there are things to second guess, things that went wrong to analyze, coaching decisions to criticize, ways to look at how the team can improve next game. On the other hand, when you win, there just isn't much to say. They played well so how much can you anaylze that, not much to criticize because they won, on to the next game. Fanbases who can talk as much about winning as losing as typically fanbases like the Cubs, who don't know what winning feels like. Personally, I usually go out for dessert after a Sox win, which takes me away from the computer for a while.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) 99% sure it will be Richard. I still think Richard is going to be a quality bullpen guy, especially if he's able to amp up for his inning or two in relief and throw 93-94 mph like his opener.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) He should be a good gap to gap guy, but also great in CF defensively. Sounds alot like BA right? Well he should be a better hitter than him....i hope. BTW, congrats on your belief in John Danks last season being justified.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) I really think that some folks have gotten a little too caught up in trying to be right all the time about their statement and have at times lost site of what makes us all in the same boat, wanting the White Sox to win the World Series. I think people need to step back once in awhile and take a look at what you are posting, and if you are more concerned with being right about players, coaches, organizational philosophies, or just your opinion over the actual goal of the team. I try at all times to be critical of areas I think can be improved, but also being happy when the team wins, no matter if my opinion was right on the subject or not. Lets all focus on what we have in common and the board will continue to be as great as it has been for the last 5 years for me. Lets go you WHITE SOX!! Would you agree that this is the reason the winner's postgame threads are shorter than the loser threads? I know that's a common complaint by some people on here, and it just seems like the nature of the beast that there's more diverse opinions about a game that your team loses compared to the euphoria when they win.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) I want to clarify my statements. Outside of the game threads at times, and the irrational thoughts and statements of probably some of the younger folks, this is a top notch site that allows some of the most knowledgeable fans of baseball and the White Sox to converse on their favorite subjects. I've met several quality people from this site and trade tickets and emails with many others. Soxtalk is an asset to many of us and I think its a very well run site. I really think that some folks have gotten a little too caught up in trying to be right all the time about their statement and have at times lost site of what makes us all in the same boat, wanting the White Sox to win the World Series. I couldn't agree more with the point you bring up about people who would rather be right about a player/coach/organizational aspect. I know I fall into this trap, and so do a lot of top-notch posters on this site. A perfect example is Dick Allen, who took just loads and loads of criticism from posters for believing in Juan Uribe. DAllen has always been the type of poster who would have a few sentences in every post he made, which allowed him to articulately state his belief (even if it was against the grid). However, it seems like more than half of his posts this season have had to deal with responding to Uribe remarks others make in reference to his support.
  13. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) fathom what was the name of that poster that came around the end of the 05 season that posted a lot all of a sudden, got banned, then came back under a different name (abbreviations or something i want to say) then got banned again. jabroni and then sosh?
  14. It's Seattle....which means it's Brian Anderson time!
  15. More than anything, I'm thrilled we rocked Gio so I don't have to hear everyone say how we should have kept the next Sandy Koufax.
  16. Anyone play Little League World Series for Wii yet? Played it last night, it's a lot of fun.
  17. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) I believed you too, thought is was odd but as bad as the NL is I thought it was possible based on interleague. Your Konerko crack was a joke too right? Of course...PK seems like family to me. Kinda like the uncle who always seems to be in a bad mood.
  18. QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) Ummm....no. Mets, Phillies, Braves, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Arizona and LA also have positive run differential in addition to the Qubs. It was a joke Betsy...sorry, I should use green more.
  19. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) i have no idea what is gonna happen with dwayne wise once we need another starter and linebrink comes back up...but if he doesnt get into a game like todays, he may as well be the odd one out Rosters will be expanded by the time Linebrink returns.
  20. Might as well take Griffey out of the game, and give him half the game off.
  21. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 17, 2008 -> 08:52 PM) going to try my hardest to make at least one of these games on the homestand coming up, and i will start the MVP chants if they aren't started already i'm actually surprised they didn't start in the last home series every BA at bat needs MVP chants at home now Fixed
