  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 02:07 AM) If someone who had no clue who you were came in here and read game threads, as well as the Cubs thread in Diamond Club...they just might get that assumption. So when I curse Ned Yost, that makes me a Cubs fan? Oh well, OC's OPS is around .450 with RISP and 2 outs.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 02:04 AM) You overrate them so much some times. I occasionally wonder whether you really are a Cubs fan. Their top 3 starters (Z, Harden, Dempster) are the best in baseball. However, there's always the possibility of Harden getting hurt. I think the Red Sox match up pretty good against the Cubs.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 02:04 AM) You overrate them so much some times. I occasionally wonder whether you really are a Cubs fan. Thanks....
  4. QUOTE (shawnhillegas @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 12:59 AM) Paul Konerko is the new Richie Sexson baby!!! Like I said last night, at least Sexson was valuable against LHP.
  5. Another just amazing at bat by Konerko. I don't know how anyone can justify keeping him in the lineup with these terrible ABs.
  6. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 01:52 AM) Really? Even with Texeira now? I would take the Halos rotation over the Cubs..even with Zambrano. Cubs pitchers do a reall good job of holding base runners, and I still have questions about the Angels offense. The Angels catching position is weak.
  7. Just about our entire team, besides Ramirez, needs to cut down on their swing.
  8. QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 01:46 AM) well if you have to pick a frontrunner they're definitely it, having all their games TV'd here, it's very clear how much better balanced they are than any other team, starting pitching, setup, closer, major power, speed at almost every position, and everyone can lay down bunts and go opposite field...pretty daunting....I hated them when I moved here 5 yrs ago and absolutely loved the Sox taking them out in the ALCS, but over time their class organization and continuous flow of quality minor leaguers has won me over as a fan I think the Cubs would pound the Angels in that match-up.
  9. The Sox/Twins highlights were 29 minutes into the 40 minute Baseball Tonight program last night.
  10. Haven't seen this mentioned here...but did you know the Cubs/Brewers series this week is not only for the World Series, but if the Cubs win, it might bring world peace? Good grief, ESPN SportsCenter this morning must have dedicated 10 minutes to the game, and even had Pedro Gomez there to report on the series.
  11. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 01:39 AM) damn, the angels are playing some good baseball right now Yes they are. Still, I can't believe some people are conceeding the WS to them.
  12. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 01:39 AM) He never left, hes probably just eating and living in the locker room. Last time I saw Coomer on TV, he looked extremely heavy.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 01:39 AM) Oh, Brian. It was a great read.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 01:37 AM) Just a random though... Jim Thome would have a REALLY good shot to bat .400 over the course of a season if they didn't put the shift on him. He strikes out too much. Bonds, a few years ago, would have been much more likely. Interesting question though.
  15. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 01:28 AM) We area all praying for that, except Dick Allen who gives PK love on the side. You'll never find me criticizing DAllen. He sticks to his beliefs through thick and skin.
  16. Fields!!! Great placement on that hit.
  17. Another great AB by Konerko. Please, please sit his ass on the bench.
  18. Fantastic eye by Thome on that 3-2. That was a pitch he was swinging at earlier in the year.
  19. What a terrible trade by the Braves last year to get Tex. I wonder how GPratt feels about it.
  20. 1B is such an easy position to find talent at. This is a good deal for the Angels, as Kotchman was never going to be a 30 homer guy in that stadium.
  21. I was really hoping he'd go to the DBacks.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 04:26 AM) Was it close to going out? My MLB.TV picture was kinda fuzzy. Saw enough of Soriano's hop where he almost mistimed it. Front of the warning track, but off the bat, it looked like he might have got it on the sweet spot.
  23. I thought Kapler might have had enough on that to sneak it over the fence. Len Kasper's announcing this season has been ungodly bad...it's like he's doing his best to echo the stereotypical bad Cubs fans.
  24. Nice to see Yost use Durham against Marmol, who homered against him last month.
  25. Brilliant idea by Yost to let Hall and Cameron bat against Marmol.
