  1. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:56 AM) I have to imagine the Yanks would be willing to toss in a lot of cash in on that deal. How would Abreu be as a leadoff hitter for 2008? Here's the question I have: why in the world would the Yanks do that trade now? If we traded for Abreu, we'd probably have to give him an extension. He reminds me so much of the offensive version of Javy in that way.
  2. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:50 AM) Fathom, remember how a lot of posters were calling for Masset to be our savior 5th starter after his earlier start of the season. He then returns to the pen and blows up like the rest of them. You sure can't be considering these guys as our saviors on one game and what's been happening shows that. My guess is there will be changes coming again this weekend at the latest. I think the more logical posters were saying he should go down to the minors to get some work in as a starter. He's been horrific as a reliever. As people point out, he had the best pitching conditions of any Sox pitcher that start at Wrigley. I'll say this though....thanks Nick for that start!
  3. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:48 AM) Abreu with a 3 run homer off of Webb. Too bad the Sox wanted nothing to do with him. \He's now batting .275 and has an OBP around .365. I still wouldn't want him due to how much money he makes and how much he struggles against LHP. Also, I could really do without having another one of Ozzie's buddies on the team.
  4. Two things: - Verlander has a no-hitter through 7 - Masset is a 2-game wonder
  5. It's going to get real annoying if we have to listen to excuses for the next 100 games.
  6. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:37 AM) Could Fields be hurt? No, he was on the field prior to that.
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:33 AM) At this point I'm just rooting for Dye to get hot as s*** over the next two weeks. It seems obvious that teams are interested in Dye despite his slow start, so it'd be great if he could have a nice two-week stretch where he hits .350 with five homers. Exactly...the main two guys I want to see do well are Dye and Fields. It just amazes me how much of losing mentality this team seems to have. Our starting pitchers seem to do just well enough to lose now, and we're getting no leadership from our manager or veterans. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) I will be surprised if someone in the media asks Ozzie about the move, but I would LOVE to hear why he did it. Reasons the move was dumb. 1.Game is already out of hand 2. Cintron for Fields. Cintron is NOT better in the field than Fields, and from what we have seen this season, he isn't much better with the bat than Fields. 3. Crede just went under the knife. Out for the year. Chances are good he doesn't see a White Sox uniform again. Fields is the very obvious replacement. See what you have. You give him as many AB's as possible. Ozzie's answer would probably be something like "He's not f***ing Barry Bonds".
  8. In more exciting news, Verlander is no-hitting the Brewers through 6 innings. It would make me so much more excited about this season if the Tigers sweep the Brewers this week....not!
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:28 AM) This is probably the dumbest move I've seen all year from Ozzie, and that's saying something. What exactly is the point of taking Fields out of the game IN THE FOURTH INNING? I don't give a f*** that he hasn't hit the ball in his short time up here, he needs to play. Stupid stupid stupid. Masset is probably a better hitter than Cintron right now.
  10. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:27 AM) It's definitely time for Kenny to work the phones, unfortunately. Call me a Dark Cloud, or whatever, but this team just looks DEAD. If someone will offer ML-ready or near-ready young players, it's time to make those moves. Thing is, no one other than Jenks (who I wouldn't deal under any circumstances) looks good enough to bring much in trade right now. Buehrle! Buehrle! Buehrle! We need to make a final offer, and if he says no, see ya Mark.
  11. QUOTE(spiderman @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:25 AM) Gentlemen, I know we all love the Sox, but at some point, when do we stop being upset and just accept reality that we don't have a good team this season. When does Kenny pull the plug ? This has to be the least upset I've ever been during a Sox debacle. Deep down in my heart, I know it's for the best if they keep losing for a while. Last night was the first time in at least 5 years I didn't bother watching a single highlight of a Sox game I missed.
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:24 AM) What the f*** is Ozzie doing?!?!?!? Double switch Fields out of the game? Are you f***ing kidding me? I wonder who will be the first one to take the fall if this massive losing tendency continues. I was told yesterday how a scout watched the Sox all last week (Pirates, I believe), and he said the Sox were the worst coached team he's seen all year.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 12:23 AM) Little league fundamentals by Dye. No chance at the runner at home, he throws it in and the trailer goes into the 2nd. We're well-coached all around.
  14. Double switch already? I'm happy we're not an NL team, because Ozzie would piss me off even more.
  15. Good thing we pitched to him with an open base. If you actually care about winning, you put him on, and try to K Howard.
  16. This looks like opening day all over again. No forkball, no fastball, no control....no chance to get big league hitters out.
  17. The frustrating thing about Contreras is that the money could have gone to Buehrle. It will be the moment that KW loses the fans when Buehrle and Garland are gone, and Vazquez and Contreras are in the starting rotation still. Contreras' average fastball has fallen about 6 mph in a little over a year.
  18. Did Uribe have any chance on Victorino's infield single?
  19. I know it's the wrong thread, but holy sinker ball match-up between Arizona and the Yanks.
  20. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) i'd love a-row back. its the presence of a guy like him that we're missing. no spark, no life at all. plus the guy can play and he loves it here. i'm really hoping this happens He'll be fine in CF, but we better improve the talent in LF and at SS if we want to have any prayer. RF and 2B are likely to be holes as well, and 3B is no sure thing. What I'm basically saying is this team has a s***load of holes next year.
  21. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) I am just going to go out on a limb, and not try to be mean. Threads Soxtalkers are sick of: 1) Rowand back to the White Sox 2) Buehrle headed to the Cardinals ... am i forgetting any? Just wait til this offseason, when I think both scenarios are extremely likely.
  22. I'd puke if they traded Gio and Fields for Tejada. Tejada is on the downside of his career, and his bat speed is slowing down and his defense is atrocious. And there's no chance that the Brewers/Yankees are giving up Weeks/Hughes.
  23. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 10:15 PM) Think positive like 4 steals or something. They can steal all they want as long as they don't score. I am hoping Jose steps up and keeps the Phils under control. This Phils lineup just seems like it's too good for our lineup to overcome. Tonight is one of those games where you just have to hope we can hit a 3 run homer if we manage to get a few guys on base.
  24. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 10:14 PM) T. Iguchi 2b A. Gonzalez lf P. Konerko 1b J. Dye rf J. Uribe ss L. Terrero cf J. Fields 3b T. Hall c J. Contreras p It's scary to think that the Sox would have been reprimanded by the Major League Baseball offices during Spring Training if they fielded this lineup.
  25. Contreras on the mound with Hall behind the plate.....I predict the Phillies steal 6 bases today.
