  1. It's amazing to see how many bad at-bats the Giants hitters can have. They haven't hit more than 5 balls hard in the 2 games against the Cubs so far.
  2. Brewers hit a lot of liners and deep fly balls late in the game, but couldn't pull it out. It looked like Estrada had a go-ahead homer in the 9th, but the ball died a few feet short of the track. Words can't describe how bad the ump has been in the Cubs game. Since when has Rich Hill deserved the Glavine treatment, and Zito gets no help at all.
  3. It's the first game of a doubleheader also.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) I would punch Contreras in his weak-minded stubborn ass face Can I also punch Don Cooper for ever telling him to start experimenting with different arm angles?
  5. QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) didn't fields hit a HR in a game not too long ago that brought us within 1 and we still lost? The Putz game. Fields homer/RBI totals are damn impressive this season.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 08:41 PM) If you could punch one player on the current sox roster, who would it be? Garland (since Hawk's not a current player)
  7. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 08:30 PM) Not Floyd's fault Toby Hall can't throw. It doesn't help that Floyd is slow to the plate, but I don't think Hall could throw out Konerko at this point. Hall's been a total bust. I have my doubts he'll ever be close to the player he was before we signed him. Everything about him looks bad, from his game calling to his swing to his throwing. But, on the bright side, at least he has experience at first base now.
  8. Anxiously awaiting Pratt's post in 3....2....1.....
  9. Good call KW in picking up Mike Myers. He's just what we needed down the stretch.
  10. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 03:13 PM) He is a bargain for that price. But you can't act as if he were a free agent pickup. The sox paid an arm and a leg extra, just to get him at a fair salary. BTW, who ever said he isn't clutch, has no idea what they are talking about. I was one of the first to get on him for not being clutch, but I didn't mean in the 7th or 8th inning. Rather, my whole thing has been that he has done next to nothing since being on the Sox in the 9th inning in a tied game or when the Sox are down a run or two (with a man on).
  11. G. Anderson is having a pretty good game.
  12. I can't believe Kasper just said this was their biggest win of the year. The Aramis walkoff vs the Brewers jumpstarted their run, as they would have fallen to 8.5 games out if he makes an out in his AB.
  13. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 04:16 AM) It's better than hearing about how worried you are that the Cubs will win something, anything. You're damn right I'm worried about them winning the World Series. They find a way to win games, and in the terrible NL, they have as good of a chance as anyone if Zambrano gets back on track. Don't worry though, there's no chance they can play your Braves in the first round.
  14. Great, now we have to hear 100 stories about how a chopper through a drawn-in infield was a work from above. I told my brother before the pitch they were leaving way too big of a hole between first and second.
  15. He just started grooving fastballs, and you could tell in the 8th he started to lose his crispness. I'll never understand why teams throw Theriot outside fastballs.
  16. The Brewers bats are picking up....it will be interesting to see them face Webb tomorrow. Ray Durham is just awful now.
  17. David Bush puts up big runs in an inning faster than anyone in baseball.
  18. Pods gets hurt again. Just put him down, and take him out of his misery.
  19. Jenks was overthrowing last night to Gathright....it happens, especially when you don't pitch for a week. No big deal though, it was exciting to watch though. How come Grudz is never such an easy out when games actually matter?
  20. I take it there's no way we luck out and they call the Cards/Cubs game?
  21. It seems like the Cubs offense plays compared to how their pitchers do. When their pitchers hold the other team down, they don't score a lot. When the pitching does score a lot, they get into a shootout.
  22. If I didn't know any better, I would think that some of the comments in the Tribune article basically made it seem like they don't think Danks was the right person to pick for the starting rotation. As much as I'm critical of his potential, there was nothing for him to prove in the minors this year.
  23. QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 12:57 AM) I'm just sick of every other goddamn team in the majors at some point brings some young stud into there system that people go..."wow...he's a pretty good young talent". When is the last time this team brought somebody up...anybody...pitcher, outfielder...anybody who was actually really good. Sure...I'm very happy with Fields and Danks and all...but where the hell are our Ryan Howards, Ryan Brauns...somebody that just lights it up. I honestly wish they would blow this team up...but KW won't. It would be him admitting he failed. Braun and Howard are HOF caliber players. Fields is a very talented young player.
  24. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 19, 2007 -> 11:02 PM) That's not going to happen. Paulie is 1. Assistant GM 2. Too big a fan-favorite 3. Not something that I think the Angels will want to give up Kotchman AND someone for. At this point, why? In-season, maybe, but I doubt they do in the offseason. After the Angels lose in the first round of the playoffs due to no offense, they'll be looking to acquire a big bat again.
