Contreras looks like he might be hurt. He seems to be laboring after each pitch, and he keeps trying to stretch out.
-
I always say this: games against Santana are the only games that we play in which I feel like we have no chance to win.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 28, 2007 -> 06:28 PM) I'm stoked to see Day up here. He's got major league stuff, but I'm not sure if he has major league command yet. Sounds like he'll fit in with our bullpen perfectly. Ozzie needs to make sure he only faces righties.
-
Some good movement on the fastball by Contreras.
-
Well, this is off to a great start. I have no clue why we even show up when we face Santana.
-
QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 28, 2007 -> 06:22 PM) he hits santana better than just about anyone on our team Yeah, I have no problem with him playing today. It's more against the rest of the lefties we face. He's around .140 against lefties since the ASB last year.

Super....more minor league talent on the big league roster!
-
I wish we'd have the balls to platoon Thome, as he's so mediocre against LHP.
-
Oh goodie!!!! A 27 year old pitcher in AA with an ERA of 3.60 and a WHIP around 1.5. I wonder if his slider will be compared to the great curveball of Arnie Munoz?

Sox Sign Craig Wilson to minor league deal

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 28, 2007 -> 03:16 AM) Borrowing a line from Jerry Reinsorf, anyone who thinks this Sox team can catch Cleveland is crazy. I think they have a shot at Detroit and the WC. If KW wants to finish ahead of Cleveland, he's going to have to get rid of some of the "depth" he thinks he has in the minor leagues. The bullpen needs to be fixed, and they have to get someone who can run a little and get on base. Those two offenses hit the ball so hard. It was a pleasure seeing good quality at-bats throughout that series. -
I'd take him in a second for a deal around Gordon, Tyrus, and the 9 pick.

Sox Sign Craig Wilson to minor league deal
fathom replied to whitesox91403's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wilson is a very good ph who would provide the best power option against LHP off the bench we've had in forever. However, he might swing and miss at more pitches than any hitter I've seen in a long time. With that in mind though, I still like this signing a lot. -
Sox Sign Craig Wilson to minor league deal

I don't like Craig Wilson, but I like this type of thinking. He's also someone who can catch if necessary, which might give Ozzie some more flexibility. -
QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 11:30 PM) Can somebody give me the lowdown on Prinz? What's his story, what does he throw and what can we expect from him? He's from the south suburbs. Righty reliever who throws from the side. If used properly, could be solid. I have no idea how hard he throws now though.
-
I think it will definitely be Prinz, and it sounds like Gonzalez as well. No need for too many lefties in the bullpen.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 27, 2007 -> 10:47 PM) Do we STRETCH!!! him out? or keep him in relief? Relief....I can't fathom how he'll ever be able to get thru 3 innings with the amount of pitches he throws. I'd rather he focus on trying to throw 98 mph again.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 27, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) Certainly, and considering the people we have up to make big money or become free agents in the next couple of years, things aren't getting any better in that regard. I wasn't worried about the 2008 and 2009 seasons going into the offseason. I think everyone on here knows that the window with the Konerko, Buehrle, Crede, Garland core was closing after 2007. Our division is just too loaded for the next few years to think we won't have to rebuild and not be a WS contender for a few years.

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 27, 2007 -> 10:28 PM) I disagree with no. 2. The home run to Pena was a high fly ball that carried. It wasn't hit that well at all. Take away that, and Mack giving up that triple, Vazquez has a very good day. Vazquez has to play the conditions though. If the wind is blowing out that much, then he needs to keep the ball down. He was throwing everything up in the zone today though, and the 6th inning comeback started because of walking Greg Norton to leadoff the inning.

Not acquiring more major league talent this offseason is really coming back to hurt us. We're having to dig deep into our minor league system now, and those guys are never ready to contribute right away.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 27, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) You can tell Mack is injured just watching him run. If MacDougal has this problem, why is Ozzie throwing him out there every damn game? Its at least 2 and 0 on every hitter. Yeah, if they were saying this week that MacDougal's been battling an injury, then Ozzie is an even bigger idiot than I give him credit for.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) And I hate the way the Sox have been playing more than anyone on this board. But a little perspective is in order. And for the record, our Sox also have a lot of talent on the team as well. They just need a little tweaking and for the talent they have to play up to their capabilities. The Cubs went out and spent a fortune...yes, they spent too much, but they acquired some very talented players this offseason. They've lost so many close games this year, and it's unlikely they'll continue to have such bad luck in one run games. I'm sure their pitching won't stay this good all year, but that team is going to have an amazing offense when the wind is blowing out. I don't know if people have been watching, but the Brewers suck. They seem to lose 4 or 5 games every week now.
-
QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:53 PM) I'm sure you'll be happy at Wrigley for the rest of the season. I hate the Cubs more than anyone on this site. However, they have a lot of talent on that team.
-
QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) My post did not require your "fixing." This team does not suck. Quality players like Dye and Konerko have not been doing their jobs. This team does need a tweaking by KW, and although they have been playing poorly at times during the first two months, they do not suck. If they sucked, theyd be playing well under .500. If you can't stand the heat of a pennant race, go over to Wrigley. Ha...the Cubs chances of making the playoffs are much greater than the Sox's chances are. Their division might be the worst I've ever seen. The teams in the NL Central simply get their ass-kicked by teams outside their division.
-
I'd have to guess that Prinz, Vasquez, and Gonzalez will be on a flight to Minnesota tonight. The talent level continues to decrease.
-
Well.....then why in the hell do you leave him out there so long? This has all the makings of a player going on the DL due to sucking.
