White Sox vs. Phillies, 6/13/07 (L)
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 07:44 PM) A rebuilding team that has no one to build anything with. Our rotation for the next 3 years should be built around Buehrle, Garland, Danks, Gio, and another pitcher....but instead, it's likely to be Vazquez, Contreras, Danks, Floyd, and Gio for the next two years. Nothing like a rebuilding project with a 10 million dollar 50 year old.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 07:38 PM) I couldn't even imagine that. Seriously, no way in hell could I live with a contract like that. Look at his numbers this year, and then think about how guys like Hunter and Jones will get between 12 and 15 mil per season. Also, I'm sure the Sox will think that he brings amazing intangibles to the table as well. I honestly believe he could get more money than that. BTW, would anyone be opposed to trying Willie Harris at 2nd base next year, as long as he has a platoon person who can hit lefties good?

6.05 ERA for Thornton now. Well done Kenny!

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 07:38 PM) I give it another week before the Royals pass us up and we are in the cellar. Good....this team deserves that dubious honor. Right now, I'm for anything that equates to the Sox going into fire sale mode. And the rumor about the Sox asking a lot for Buehrle likely means they know they can't re-sign him this offseason.

QUOTE(lemon44 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 07:34 PM) Can we trade for Aaron? He'll be back in 100 games after this game. I'm sure we'll overpay by giving him something like 4/32.

Great, now we won't hear the end about how Rowand came back to haunt his former team.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 07:32 PM) Our relievers love walks. We only have three relievers out of the 7 on the roster who deserve to be in the majors. It really baffles me how that everyone's job is secure right now. 100 million dollar payroll for this junk?

Another game where we get a few runs early, and then we just go silent and wait for the other team to comeback against our pitchers. It's fine though....this team is so bad, it's not worth it to hope they get a few wins and fool our GM. There is absolutely no excuse for the Sox not to become sellers.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 07:24 PM) If it wasn't for those dam Nationals, I'd say we are well on our way that #1 pick next year. Give it time. I think the Reds will end up with the worst record though after trading some of their better players.

QUOTE(lemon44 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 07:12 PM) Why not a PH. At least I found the only manager worse than Ozzie....the National League Ozzie. QUOTE(lemon44 @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 07:15 PM) Owens is bad. I think there's two people within baseball who think he can play in the majors, and it's Ozzie and Kenny.

AJP in the middle of a 4-30 stretch. I'm sure he'll blame it on the presence of Toby.

What did Fields do on the play? And I like Ozzie not going by the book there and trying to get Danks the win.

What type of reception did Thome get?
-
Potentially killing two birds with one stone
We have no one in the minors who we could realistically expect to come up to the big league team as a starter and put up an ERA under 4.50. The best move we could make with Contreras is to try and trade him.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) lets try and keep it positive in the spirit of the thread please. What's your most memorable play of 2005?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 04:22 PM) its one of the best really. He is also coming around now. I couldn't imagine how much blame KW would receive if he had let Konerko go after 2005. When a guy who was as crappy as Rowand was during 2005 is treated like a god, then I don't want to know what people would be saying about Konerko. I have so much respect for Konerko. Besides for participating in my favorite sports moment of my lifetime (slam in game 2), he CHOSE to stay with the White Sox.

QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 04:03 PM) I think Konerko's contract was the first one he messed up on. PK's contract was great on so many levels.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) Would it really be that horrible to trade Contreras and insert Masset into the rotation? If we put Gio or Floyd into the rotation, it would be a lot more interesting than seeing Contreras throw 87 mph with no command and 1/10th the forkball he used to have. Could it be that Contreras has the first big money contract that KW messed up on?
