  1. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 08:26 PM) this team has played bad, but the Jenks "velocity" thing is just dumb. Its been dumb for years. So you have no concerns about a guy who's lost about 4 mph off of his fastball within 2 years? Let's see how much his ERA rockets during the 2nd half this year.
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 08:25 PM) So, when this game inevitably ends in a loss we'd have to go, what, 66-26 the remainder of the season to have any chance of playoff contention? Please, let the fire-sale begin sooner rather than later. If it takes a Cubs sweep to finally get everything in motion, then I'll accept it. It's becoming ridiculous watching this team lose day after day, series after series; with people on the team and on this board continuing to have hope. I wonder if even jphat has hope.
  3. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 08:24 PM) My prediction is that if the Cubs series goes badly, the fire sale begins Monday. You mean you don't like our chances against Zambrano, Hill, and Marshall with Aramis returning tomorrow?
  4. QUOTE(ChiSox9 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 08:23 PM) I can hear Ozzie now "We ok, it was going to happen to Bobby sometime.. he has been over worked in the last 20+ games... you cant expect him to go out there every day for this team and shut the opponent down" I dont post much but I can tell you this ... this season is toast. Its a shame I have about 20 more games to go to this season but if i leave around the 7th inning and they have the lead at least when I leave I can pretend they won and not worry about the bulls*** coming out of our bullpen! I'm thinking it's going to be more like "I did what the fans want, and that's to bring in Jenks in the 8th inning".
  5. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 08:23 PM) Gametrack had those fastballs blazin' in there at 93 MPH too... Its sad when we all know that no way in hell Jenks should go 2 innings...and yet...we don't want to see ANYONE else out of the pen. Top notch bullpen we've got here, glad that was fixed in the offseason. It would be swell if we just fired every coach in our system....the sooner the better. Jenks lack of velocity this far into the season is very disturbing.
  6. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) Oh my f***ing god Why do we even bother to watch this s***storm of a team? Don't worry, your boyfriend will be playing soon enough.
  7. First homer Jenks has allowed in forever. At least he didn't do it when we still actually had hope. Hopefully this will be the end of Jenks having to extend himself due to our terrible bullpen.
  8. It's almost to the point where I hope Uribe just continues to suck beyond belief so that they have no option but to not bring him back next year. Of course, I hoped for that last year with Pods, and he certainly sucked....and we know what happened.
  9. Maybe it's me, but I really don't want to see Ozzie making it a habit of bringing in Jenks for 2 innings. If your team is that bad that you can't get it to the 9th inning for your closer, then I'd rather not see him be overused for the next month or so.
  10. QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) Martinez>Milledge Martinez, Milledge, and Pelfrey would be a good starting point if they are getting an extenstion. I would also want a middle infield prospect back as well. If Dye were included too, that would get very pricey for the Mets farm system, probably moreso than Minaya will pay. I say this politely, but your posts over the last few weeks make me think you have no idea about the trade value of players.
  11. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 07:04 PM) Yep, I'm sure Ichiro is just jumping at the chance to play for a team that was under .500 in 2007 and looking to go young at many positions in 2008. Give up the Ichiro dream, it's not going to happen. Aaron Rowand will be our starting CF in 2008, I guarantee it.
  12. QUOTE(NYSox35 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) Really? I mean I'm not disagreeing, but I think KW might want to wait until July to drive up the value and wait as long as possible before pissing off the fans. That's just me though If any fan actually believes this collection of talent is going to win a very good division, then they're a freaking idiot. The more we wait for the value to go up, the more we risk an injury to an aging player (Dye). The fans should be pissed off at KW and Ozzie for this year, but not because they'll trade some older players.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 06:34 PM) I think they should ease KW into seeing this team isn't very good. No kidding...between this lineup and our bullpen, we're one of the worst teams in all of baseball. I honestly believe that Friday will be Buehrle's last start with the Sox.
  14. Had no idea Owens OPS was in the .430 range like it is, and that's after he did well his first two games.
  15. I have to say., this is a bad trade for the Cubs. They really downgraded their catching position with this deal.
  16. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Soto? and Bard or Bowen was the original rumor, then they moved to Linebrink. Buster Olney is reporting it on espn.com
  17. Now the rumor is it's for Bowen and a minor leaguer.
  18. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) Linebrink? WTF?????? Padres over paid! Wouldn't surprise me....if there's one thing Hendry knows how to do, it's to get a lot of value for his players via trade. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 02:07 PM) Linebrink makes way above minimum. You can't have that in the bullpen. Eric Patterson is supposed to be a decent prospect. Linebrink is nothing special....he greatly benefits from pitching in that park. The Cubs now have 5 good righty relievers in Dempster, Marmol, Linebrink, Wuertz, and Howry. However, not having a solid everday catcher will hurt them.
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) Thornton's got to get a handle of his off-speed stuff. Too often hitters are getting locked into that fastball of his, and if he mis-locates it, it's gone. Almost the Neal Cotts syndrome all over again really. It makes you wonder what the hell is Don Cooper doing to help these guys?
  20. Dye's quad injury is a little more serious than first reported. We need to trade him now, before he eventually goes on the DL.
  21. I wonder if they'll get Bard back in the deal. I also wouldn't be surprised if they got someone like Meredith in the trade.
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 01:42 PM) Thome has been hurt for (at least) three years... Yep, but they said he reinjured it last week. It's to the point where we should really consider trading him.
  23. Thome got hurt when he played first base during the Phillies game. Didn't Ozzie say he would absolutely not play in the field this season?
  24. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:23 AM) I think Kenny clarified himself a bit more on PTI today. He made the comment along the lines of, "if things don't pick up soon, we're obviously going to have to look at a change in direction (ie, more youngins and less vets), but hopefully it won't come to that." All I ask is that we don't get swept by the Cubs this weekend. But perhaps losing two out of three with some really embarrassing baseball will put the nails in this coffin. With Thome possibly out, the chances that Zambrano shuts us out is quite high. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:26 AM) He didn't even bother throwing tonight on the steal attempts, but then again it didn't appear Johnny Bench in his prime would have had a chance. He also bounced a couple to Fields on strikeouts. But you know what, it's really paid off that he got a few innings in at first base during ST.
  25. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 20, 2007 -> 04:20 AM) If the White Sox do go into fire-sale mode, or at least mini-fire sale mode, I wouldn't be surprised to see Hall shipped off to a contender as he has really wanted to be on a contending team for a while now, I think. Hall needs to get surgery on his labrum done ASAP so that he can be ready for next year.
