QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) Strikes have definitely been an issue this year. Especially with the bullpen. Even when they aren't walking guys they are getting hammered because its 2-0 or 3-1. Who would have ever guessed that would be the case?
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) But the baseball genius fixed a bad bullpen. Everyone throws 97. It's amazing how poorly this roster is constructed. At least we lead the league in reserve infielders.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) seriously, what percentage of runs in this series got on base due to a walk? I think already 4 walks have scored for garland today, at least 3 for both Jose and Danks It's inexcusable to walk any Twins hitter besides Morneau and Hunter. Throw it down the plate to the other guys, and let them hit it as hard as they want.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) A good gm shakes the team up right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! god f***in dammit Nope, a good GM waits another month to see if this team shows any fire. If not, then you become sellers instead of buyers.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 30, 2007 -> 07:06 PM) The offense was nice early in the game now they have gone away completely. They will lose this game because the offense can not stay on the field for more than 10 pitches. Sorry but the offense is why they lost last year and why they will again. They can not takethe other team out of the game by continuing to score. 6 runs is nice but the Twins pen will end the game with 6 shut-out innigns. This what happend in the Oakland series. This happens about twice a year vs the Twins. We'll jump out to a nice lead, they'll pull their pitcher, and then a couple of no name relievers for them will come in and shut us down. Meanwhile, our starting pitchers can't get a big out to save their life. In the past, it was relievers like Rincon, Guerrier, and Perkins who would shut us down. I guess we can add Miller to the list.
-
Well, this makes 4 straight horrible starts for our starting pitchers. This team has no confidence at all right now.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:49 PM) Man, harping on someone who is 2 for 3 today because he popped out in an at bat? Sorry, a guy with an OPS on the season aroung .600 doesn't get a free pass just cause he has 2 hits in a game. It's pathetic how many pop ups he's hit to the right side of the infield this year, and it's because he's dipping his back shoulder on the swing. It's the main reason that he rarely hits line drives anymore.
-
There's no one that pops up more to the right side than Joe Crede. He's such a terrible player this year.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:43 PM) I'm not a stat head. I watch the game. Now I don't watch a lot of Twins games, but in the ones I do watch Hunter usually comes through in the clutch, both at the plate and in the field. He also seems to be a spark plug for his team. I wish the Sox had him. Hunter's been more clutch against the Sox than any hitter over the past 4 years or so. Hell, he makes Mike Sweeney seem like he's nothing now.

QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) Well you could put Terrero out there for Erstad. Then who's in left field, Mackowiak?
-
QUOTE(watchtower41 @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:32 PM) Isnt Baker a righty?? nevermind, I paid no attention in bettwen calls that they brought Miller in. Yeah, but they brought in a lefty to retire Thome.
-
Here's the question I have about our roster right now: with the way things are constructed, don't we basically have to play both Erstad and Thome against every LHP we face? It's not exactly a good thing to have two miserable hitters against LHP in the lineup every game.
-
QUOTE(watchtower41 @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:29 PM) Not sure where the hell the rest of team will stand, but I'd sure love to have Hunter right about now. Me too, but it makes no sense to waste a lot of money on an aging player if we're going to have young guys filling the other holes.
-
Jim Thome = 4 for 28 against LHP with no extra base hits.
-
QUOTE(watchtower41 @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:27 PM) At least we can borrow something from the Cubbies??? Wait 'til next year?? You mean "next year", the year that Ozzie/KW are already admitting there's likely to be less talent on the team?
-
QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:24 PM) I would bet if there's a marginal strike call against the Sox that Cooper starts yakking and Guillen gets tossed. Which might not be a bad idea as if they are not fired up after that bad inning maybe they need electrotherapy or something. I can't remember the last time Guillen got tossed for balls and strikes.
-
QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:21 PM) Just like the Twins did for 2 months last year...If I remember they did win the AL Central If we have a Liriano to insert into the rotation, then we'll be just fine.
-
I can recall numerous times in the past where Garland hung a curve to Hunter in a big spot and paid a big price.
-
Is Garland pitching as bad as gameday makes it look?
-
Congrats to the Twins on their 5 steals today.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 30, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) Craig Wilson 1-8, 5 K's in his first two games in Charlotte. Not looking good. I liked the signing initially, but I heard some horror stories about Craig Wilson's swing last night coming from the Braves AAA scout.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 30, 2007 -> 04:33 AM) Why isnt this f***er on the DL getting better, instead of being up and hitting like he cant hit. Give him 15 days and lets see if his finger gets better. There's an excuse for everyone. Like you said, if they can't play at a major league level, then send their ass to the DL or minors.
-
Wow, that was a fantastic finish in Mets game. Thanks JD for telling us to turn it to ESPN.
-
QUOTE(briguy27 @ May 30, 2007 -> 02:54 AM) hopefully cintron right in the elbow and breaks it and is out for the year so i never have to see his retarded @$$ on a major league diamond until 2008 Classless post, especially after the family stuff he's dealing with.

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ May 30, 2007 -> 02:53 AM) Wanna see something fun... turn to ESPN to watch Jose Reyes run the bases as the tying run in extra innings. It's amazing how many exciting, young players there are in the game right now. Guys like Sizemore, Reyes, and Granderson are really fun to watch as leadoff hitters.
