QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) Ozzie leaning towards bringing up Gonzalez Super...that's going to really help out a lot.
-
QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:29 PM) Fixed it for you.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:25 PM) Do you leave in Masset? Yeah, why the hell not? He hasn't pitched in a week....and a 4 run deficit vs Tampa is different than if you're facing a great bullpen, etc. It was another poorly managed game....but that's no shocker.
-
And this is why you don't conceed by putting Sisco in the game.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:21 PM) Let's just see what they replace him with. I don't think it's possible to acquire a "bench guy" as good as Pablo (maybe Chone Figgins) and since we've been playing without a major league LF all season I suggest Kenny get one in here real quick. Either that, or a top flight SS/2B who can become the starting 2B. Have you seen Chone's numbers this year? He might be the most overrated player in baseball. Anyways, I agree with you....KW has to acquire a LF.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) This team had 2 times where we had a man on 2nd and no outs and he never leaves 2nd because of strikeouts and overswinging. And then we keep trotting out guys who have sucked for 3 or 4 weeks in a row and keep prayin g that they will snap out of it. thats our philosophy, hope they get better but do nothing to make it happen. You mean what KW's philosophy was this offseason with our offense?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) If Sisco doesnt go down soon then we are giving up this season. 5.5 out tonight if the Indians win. We are going to lose tomorrow, because thats what we do when we face Johan. So we are really setting ourselves up for a suckfest in this season. When the top 2 guys are fighting it out, and you play the Tampa bay devil rays, you are supposed to gain ground, not lose it. And then we face Halladay and Burnett next weekend. We had such a good 3rd inning against Kazmir too....it's too bad Vazquez is incapable of actually holding a lead.

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) Pablo was one of the better players the Sox had. The guy could fly, was a quality hitter and could play at many positions. He always gave everything he had, and got hurt giving it that extra effort trying to help the Sox win. He will truly be missed. Even before today, the Sox were playing one quality player short all season. KW better get busy gettting a major league talent in here quick. Ozuna was a solid utility player. We'll miss his hustle and versatility. However, he's someone that can be replaced if KW is smart and Ozzie doesn't get his way.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) I look forward to seeing Jerry Owens get a shot (I assume he's on his way). Who can come up for Crisco? Wouldn't mind seeing Russel get a chance. Owens is just what this team needs. A lefty slap hitter who stinks on defense and can't hit LHP.
-
DJ with a load of s*** about Ozzie not being afraid to make changes. How about we plunk Dukes here?
-
Can we please send this loser down to the minors? Man, this team is really not very good.
-
MacDougal's WHIP in May is approaching 3.50, and his ERA is around 14.
-
At least Joe Crede has looked very good offensively over the last two games since he returned.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) We dont take pitches. We have horrible ideas of what a strike is. Most right handed bullpen guys throw a slider, which might as well be a golf ball thrown 2000 mph and painted black. We are swinging for the Dan Ryan. Our offensive line-up just isn't put together well: - we have no speed - we have only one guy who constantly works the pitcher - we suck vs LHP This is a homer or nothing lineup, and innings like we had in the 3rd just don't happen frequently enough. However, we'll keep trying to play smallball.
-
MacDougal's ERA is now 6.88

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2007 -> 08:55 PM) I am going to ask KW this year about what he is doing to fix the worst hiting team in the majors against lefties next year. And ask him why Walker is employed. We'll acquire a good hitting back-up catcher, but we'll try to make him a 1b. Then, we'll sign a guy who crushes lefties, but we'll release him so that we can teach Brian Anderson a lesson.
-
QUOTE(Brian @ May 27, 2007 -> 08:51 PM) Give him a raise! I still want to punch the person who organized that charity event that they were at a few years ago in which Ozzie and Javy golfed together and bonded. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2007 -> 08:51 PM) There is something wrong with him. His fastball was 97 with the Royals. He took a bit off for more strikes last year and was 94-95. Now he is 90 all the time. That goes for just about every pitcher we have this year.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) In the offseason I would trade Vazquez to the Mets, who would love him. And put Masset in the rotation. Take the money we are giving to Vazquez, put some more on it, and throw it at Buerhle. Am I being overly negative when I predict we'll lose Buehrle and Garland after this year, but we'll keep Vazquez and Contreras? This offseason is really shaping up to suck.
-
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 27, 2007 -> 08:49 PM) The Reds must be much worse than I thought. They are....they have about 3 pitchers in their entire organization worth a damn (Harang, Arroyo, and Bailey).
-
QUOTE(briguy27 @ May 27, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) ok and put dye in the mix. b/c if we wont resign him after the year, we mine as well trade him, considering we have no shot at october this year The absolute worst thing that could happen to this team is to be out like 6 or 7 games at the trade deadline.
-
If the Sox go on to lose, Vazquez will be 102-108 in his career.
-
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ May 27, 2007 -> 08:46 PM) Do you really think any major league team would want McDougirl based on his recent performance? Most softball leagues would reject him. I really think the Reds would take a shot at him, as they have nothing in their bullpen and might think they could make him into their closer. KW should be really proud of how many holes this 100 million dollar team has.
-
QUOTE(briguy27 @ May 27, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) here comes masset. thank the holy god macdougal, gio, sisco, and cash to the rays for crawford. DO IT! Tampa wants nothing to do with MacDougal or Sisco.
-
QUOTE(GOD @ May 27, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) why would u bring McDougal into a game we actually had a shot at winning Ozzie always seems to act weird when we're down 1 or 2 runs in the 8th/9th inning. We've talked about this before, but he shows no urgency.
-
Trade MacDougal and Gio to the Reds for Griffey Jr. or Dunn.
