  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:38 AM) Time to turn on the PFB show for comedy. "McCarthy just needs confidence in close games. He's going to be fine down the stretch when he gets confidence." "Podsednik had a bunt hit tonight. That's going to give him confidence the rest of this season that he can use his speed."
  2. I'll say this: it's a great thing that Jenks dominated the Red Sox out of the pen in the ALDS!
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:35 AM) Too bad we dont have the 8 game cushion in september to turd through this year. When we decide to play like crap for a few months. You mean the typical late season swoon? I just find it amazing that Frank Thomas has really turned it on for a great 2nd half team, and Thome (who's always been a great 2nd half player) isn't playing as well as he could be.
  4. We have three good relievers. The rest of them are a crapshoot, and can't be trusted in close games.
  5. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:31 AM) Lopez hasn't been tough on lefties this year. And he's been notoriously brutal against righties in his career. If you make that move, you can get Gload to the plate, and he's been our 3rd best hitter of late.
  6. jphat....FWIW, I'm not blaming this loss on Ozzie. I just thought that move could have led to an insurance run. This loss falls on our terrible offense, a nice defensive play that Uribe couldn't make but Youkilis could, and Jenks having nothing on the mound.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:29 AM) I like Brandon, and Oz has been brutal this year, but Brandon is not getting the "I've been misused" pass from me. Step it up, get out of the inning. He needs to get his s*** together, we are going to need him down the stretch. I'm on the same page with you in regards to this. He can't keep throwing these meatballs in clutch situations.
  8. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:26 AM) You are king of the 20/20 hindsight brigade. Pierzynski's hitting .278 v. lefties. Lopez is tough as hell on lefties. I thought we called up Stewart so we could have more flexibility late in the game? BTW, this isn't 20/20 hindsight. I was stating this BEFORE the AJP at-bat. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:27 AM) I would like to hear your views on Pods and Anderson. Pods still >>>>>> to Anderson? and Sizemore
  9. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:24 AM) LOL. Somebody actually finds a way to blame Ozzie for that. You are incredible. At least s*** on him when he does something wrong. Just as embarassing as how the team is playing. HE'S BAAAACK!! Yep, I think Ozzie could have helped us out a lot more if he would have tried to get more runs in the 9th inning. And if you're going to criticize me for my posts in observing the game, why don't you please add your own. I would have never thought you'd be the type to stop posting just cause the team is doing bad.
  10. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:23 AM) plain and simple....mccarthy needs to use his offspeed stuff, something he hasnt done his last few games and hitters have been sitting on his fastball in and pounding it... For the 100th time this season (not intended towards you daa), McCarthy doesn't have confidence in his offspeed stuff coming out of the bullpen. He's a "feel" pitcher, and all year he's said he doesn't like the way he stuff feels out of the pen. It's no surprise that his best outings have been when he goes 3 or 4 innings and can develop a rhythm.
  11. One less game until this annoying stretch of baseball is over.
  12. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:20 AM) Bobby in ... Mr. Automatic blows a rare save opportunity. Brandon in ... Bomb. The man nobody criticizes gives up the game-winning bomb. We stink. Our bats are dead. We are snakebit. We remain a team in trouble. On to Game Two tomorrow. McCarthy deserves some criticism...he's been real bad this year in close games. It's just such a waste of a season for him, and he's not a reliever with his stuff.
  13. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:19 AM) This is becoming embarrassing. How the f*** can't you look at the scoreboard, realize a win is needed with two rivals already winners earlier in the evening, and lose to a weakened Boston team. WITH SOME POTFACE BULLPEN ARM DOMINATING OUR OFFENSE FOR SEVEN INNINGS?! Pathetic. The choke avatar is becoming very close ro finding itself used agian. You have a one run lead, a man on first, and a tough lefty facing a struggling hitter with plenty of options on the bench. Instead, Ozzie leaves AJP to hit into a DP. When you have Manny leading off the inning, that lack of proactivity is pathetic. In a game between two terrible managers, it ended up being that the team with the final AB won.
  14. It's plain and simple....we're not a playoff team right now. At last, the standings reflect that.
  15. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) If this team wins the division, not only will I seriously do snow angels naked, but Jermaine Dye will win the MVP. Derek Jeter will win the MVP...and he actually deserves it this year.
  16. Is it possible for a team to be failing at every category? Garland had a great start, but on a whole, our offense, pitching, defense, managing, and base running just suck right now.
  17. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:11 AM) As if Sweet Home Chicago is any better. That was a classless move, and I love AJ. Yep, AJ is the first baseball player to ever fake like he's going to give the ball to the crowd, and then stick it in his glove. Since he did it to a Red Sox fan, I anticipate this becoming a huge deal on ESPN.
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:09 AM) Ozzie really thinking ahead about what his OF defense is going to look like... BA coulda grounded out to the pitcher and not fistf***ed our defense... His decisions continue to amaze me. He can't quit soon enough.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:04 AM) would love to know who decided to pitch around Manny there, it threw him off for the next hitter. I think that was the right arm of Bobby Jenks
  20. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:02 AM) If bobby gets out of this he better not pitch a second inning It's time for the unreliable guys to win us this game.
  21. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 02:00 AM) ...one night it is the hitting, the other night starting pitching, some nights middle relief, and other nights the closer. don't forget to include our manager and third base coach.
  22. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 01:58 AM) 89? Um, Ozzie, is there a gun in that stadium? The gun is like 3 mph slow tonight. I still have absolutely no clue why we gave in to Lowell, who's swinging the bat better than anyone not named Manny on that team.
  23. Thankfully we kept AJP in the game for his expect pitch selection.
  24. Keep throwing a dead fastball hitter fastballs. Jenks fastball is as bad as he's ever had with us right now.
  25. What a terrible pitch. Good thing we didn't try for that insurance run.
