  1. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 03:15 AM) On the topic of Ozzie and his inability to motivate the guys this year, how exactly was he supposed to motivate the pitchers into not sucking ass??? I still feel that the severe underachievements of our pitchers is the main reason for our failures this year, by far... If he would have managed the pitchers better, their ERAs would have been much improved. When you look back at this season, our starters were pretty good during the first 5 innings. However, Ozzie was far too patient with our starters this year. It worked last year, but that was when these guys were more fresh and had better velocity. There were so many times this year when a pitcher saw his stat line go from 6 innings, 2 runs to 6.1 innings, 5 runs.
  2. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 03:15 AM) Let the Fields lovefest begin. So does Bmac still have his name etched in stone for the 2007 rotation? Haha, I was thinking the same thing about Fields. Now, if KW trades him in the offseason, people will go nuts. I have to say though, it was an impressive homer. It's probably the most bat speed we've seen from the Sox in the month.
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 03:10 AM) Guillen doesn't send veterans messages. That might ruin clubhouse chemistry -- or cause panic! I loved the argument earlier that Ozzie knows how to handle his veterans, and that's why he doesn't throw them under the bus like he has Anderson and McCarthy. I'm sure seeing a lot of improvement by Uribe and Pods, since Ozzie supposedly knows how to motivate them.
  4. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 03:04 AM) Field-Sweeny-Anderson and Dye are the OF'er's next year We better upgrade our offense at SS then.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 03:05 AM) I have no problem at all with this idea. The starters have thrown in the towel so we might as well let the kids play. On a some what similar note, I hope everyone who goes to games from here on out boos this team like crazy. I'm usually not a big fan of booing players a ton but these guys deserved to be booed out of the park. Yep, I hate when fans start to boo players. However, the intensity level by our starters is absolutely sickening. Our fans have been there all year for them, and it's pathetic how they've responded down the stretch.
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 03:00 AM) That would be sweet. Take Batting Practice Buerhle with him. Opponents hit the ball very hard against Buerhle these days. He's either hurt or washed up. I think he's hurt, as he doesn't follow-thru well enough to keep his pitches down. Something that really kills these guys is that Ozzie never, ever takes them out proactively.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 02:55 AM) I just can't accept this. Even the '04 Cubs, a team that I thought was loaded, could play the injury card. What's this team's excuse? We were outhustled, outmanaged, and outplayed by two teams in our division. Like you said, there's no injury excuse. We've been as healthy as any team I've ever seen. Just be grateful we capitalized last year on our good fortune, and won the WS.
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 02:53 AM) Anybody seriously depressed? I mean for real. I don't even feel like going to work tomorrow (then again I never do). Nope...even you saw this brewing a while ago. It's easier to take now, as I haven't been convinced ONCE during the 2nd half that we were a playoff team.
  9. And the legend grows!
  10. You know, Sean Tracey deserves a lot of credit for this tailspin. Ever since the Ozzie/Mariotti incident, there's been a terrible vibe surrounding this team.
  11. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 02:48 AM) Well, it was nice saying 'World Champion White Sox" for a little while. Am I allowed to still keep my 2005 WS DVD?
  12. Here comes Tracey, another medicore Sox prospect who put up crappy numbers in a pathetic hitting International League this year.
  13. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 02:43 AM) Boy, this team is really showing a bucnh of heart and ergency to win... I hate you all. Ozzie really should be on the hot seat.
  14. Wow...do I love that. That might have made my night. f*** this team, and f*** our manager for putting Mackowiak in CF still.
  15. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 02:38 AM) season ended right there It was done well before that. I'd like to congratulate McCarthy though on a pathetic 2nd half of the season.
  16. Well....McCarthy right now looks like another one of the hyped up Sox prospects who doesn't have the physical ability to match their hype. His stuff is mediocre.
  17. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 02:35 AM) I still like Joe Crede. Maybe he'll win the gold glove He doesn't deserve it...Mike Lowell does.
  18. Looks like we're leaving McCarthy in to die now. If you have Jenks warming up, then bring his ass in the damn game.
  19. Mercy...Crede's been a rally killer in September.
  20. Congrats on #40 Thome. Keep facing righties, and good things will come.
  21. Good thing we didn't let Cintron face Rodney...it's not like he's had success against him.
  22. That was a bad call on Uribe, but it highlights our hitter's problem of protecting when there's 2 strikes. If you get in the mindset that you're going to protect, we'd avoid a hell of a lot more of these called 3rd strikes we've had.
  23. So we ph for Anderson, and not Uribe when we have a dugout full of lefties?
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 01:58 AM) Thanks Jurassic..Have the St. Paul Saints called yet? Maybe Everett and Pods can be in the same lineup again next year.
  25. Everett is crazy...but he was dead on regarding the Sox. Chemistry is such a stupid intangible in sports, as good teams are always said to have good chemistry, and bad teams are always said to have bad chemistry.
