  1. QUOTE(Contreras @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:55 AM) Pretty simple. Cotts IS significantly better vs lefties than righties this year, despite the misinformed drivel of many posters here. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7209/s...gvhVOM6YTuFCLcF Cotts has also given up hits to 11 of the last 17 lefties he's faced.
  2. I have to leave soon....but I'll say this: tomorrow's game is as important as there can be with 40 games left in the year. It is comforting knowing that even if we get swept, we'll only be one game out. In any non-2005 year, I would have jumped at that chance.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:48 AM) Whatcha ya gonna do brother Sorry, no more wrestling. It's for 5 year olds. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:50 AM) Weak ground out to third. WE WON THAT TRADE!
  4. WOW! Hawk saying we're lacking intensity. I don't think I ever thought I'd hear him say that about an Ozzie Guillen managed team. Great job Hawk!
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) Well Cotts made the pitch. Unlucky that he fisted it in the only hole in that area. It happens. It was a decent move IMO. I respect you as a poster...but will you please explain to me how it was a decent move? I'd really like to see a legitimate explanation.
  6. I went out and measured it myself. The Sox are being forced to run 100 ft. to get to the base, but the opposition only has to run 80 ft. It's a conspiracy by ESPN/Fox to make sure we don't make the playoffs again and draw low ratings.
  7. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:47 AM) I think it is obvious how Sunday will go. 0-0 after 5 innings, Ozzie leaves Javy out there in the 6th to give up 2 runs. We lose 2-0. We'll have a 2-0 lead going into the 6th. This thread needs more wrestling.
  8. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:44 AM) Just got back from Snakes on a Plane (excellent movie by the way), what happened so far? I see the crappy score, but who's to blame? We let an average player over the last 7 games beat us. Our 3-4-5 is awesome, the rest of the guys seem tired.
  9. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:43 AM) Yes. I'm sure Morneau was trying to do that. He hits the ball very, very hard for his hits. He doesn't dink and dunk. He popped it up. It happens. Not anybodys fault. But I suppose everyone around here has to blame it on somebody. Actually, he's completely cut down on his strikeouts recently, and he makes himself even more dangerous by making contact on the ball. When you add in the fact that Cotts can't ace a hitter with a slider to save his life, it wasn't a shocking turn of events.
  10. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:42 AM) He said "right now". How far back is "right now"? Morneau is having a good all around season, but is no means near the best player in baseball right now. Would be funny to see what people post if Anderson dives and makes the catch. "Nice pitch Neal", etc... Overall, doesn't seem like we are gonna score more than 3. We come back to tie or take the lead and Freddy gave it right back. Freddy isn't a big game pitcher, he just says he is. Even before the Morneau hit, we were saying it was the wrong call. Morneau might be the toughest out in baseball over the last 3 months. I simply can't believe Ozzie put him in a position to break open this game.
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:39 AM) Jenks isn't doing too bad, although he hasn't been lights out lately. And our biggest concern was his weight. His velocity has been down in the last few months, and I wonder if he'd be more consistent with his arm strength if he was in better condition? QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) LOL. Let's not bring out all of the stupid stuff we've said. It would take me the rest of the night to compile for you. Always have to try and get the last word in, don't you?
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:38 AM) Or the guy who hit .364 in June, .410 in July and .288 in August with 17 rbi so far. If Jermaine Dye is an under the radar MVP candidate, so is this guy. Dye only has 2 homers and 2 RBI coming into tonight's game, so he's not very good. Also, Ortiz only has one homer in his last 9 games or so. I guess it means he's not a power threat.
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:37 AM) It's no use my friend. No use at all. They see only what they want to. One, I never said it like that. Nice try. I said he was better up to that point in the year, which he was. That's all you've got? Two, how's Bobby Jenks doing this year? May I add Pods is a better leadoff hitter than Sizemore, and Garcia means to throw a high curve? We're polar opposites though, so I'm not arguing anymore with you tonight.
  14. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:35 AM) Last 7 games: .273 average, 1 HR, 3 RBIs, OPS of .792. If he is the best player is baseball now, the game is in trouble. And how about before the last 7 games? He has about 21 homers and 70 RBI in his last 260+ ABs.
  15. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:33 AM) Just reminding you of last year. Thought I remember seeing you say it wouldn't happen again. It isn't worth coming much anymore really. That's why all of the really good posters don't come to the game threads anymore. It's just a big whine fest from 5-year olds. Really good posters = optimistic posters that agree with what you say?
  16. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:32 AM) Morneau is nowhere near the best player in baseball right now. It's not really even close. He's on an amazing stretch. Name someone who's been better? He's an RBI machine.
  17. QUOTE(atrain081 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:32 AM) how can you possibly defend ozzie's managing this second half of the season? If anyone can do it, we know who it is.
  18. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:30 AM) This sounds like last year all over again. I remember the Ozzie threads like they were just yesterday. Then when the season was over, I remember another thread that you started. How'd that go again...? Do you lurk around this thread just to come in and try to start a fight with people who don't think this is the greatest team in history?
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:29 AM) He got a weak little pop up. Happened exactly as they wanted. Unfortunately it just found a hole. Cuddyer coudl have done the exact same thing. At least you wouldn't have let the best player in baseball beat you. Don't give me that blooper bulls***. My number 1 rule for a manager is to put your team in the best position to succeed. Ozzie couldn't have managed worse in the last 2 innings.
  20. Ha...11 out of the last 17 lefties to face Cotts have a hit. I honestly think this is the worst managed game I've ever seen....and that's hard to do with Ozzie.
  21. I said it earlier in this thread...it will be a long wknd if Ozzie keeps letting Morneau beat us. He's the best player in baseball right now.
  22. I hope someone in the media questions Ozzie after the game, and he uses a racial/ethnic slur and never manages another Sox game.
  23. Good job Ozzie! We don't deserve to make the playoffs.
  24. QUOTE(atrain081 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 02:25 AM) they were just talking about walking grudz to get to sweeny in the royals series, but that made so much more sense than this That was a no-brainer move. This is a no brain move.
  25. Wow...Cotts with one hanger he's lucky to have back.
