Game Thread: White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) We might as well release him then. or just use him in mop-up duty. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) Blyleven takes offense to Pods stealing and says he should be hit in the wrist the next time they play the Sox. I'm almost positive that the Twins were stealing when they were up 5-0 yesterday.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) Cotts with a short leash. No way, you don't even put yourself in a position where you give the other team a chance due to trying to get your worst pitcher some confidence. Let either MacDougal or Thornton try to finish this one out.

Buehrle's in a good rhythm...why did Cooper go out to the mound?

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) I'm pretty sure you knew I was giving you crap because we have a manager that preaches defense, but it only seems to count at certain times. I'm pretty sure that we should stop saying "I'm pretty sure". I couldn't agree with you more on the defense statement. When your pitching is struggling, you have to go put your best defense on the field (especially considering that our best defense also contains our best offensive players right now). QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) Crede just showed major back pain on that last swing...i hope he comes out of the game! It did look a little strange. I think he's ok though.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) I'm pretty sure you only meant that last part. I'm pretty sure you should know my posting style enough to know that I don't use green for sarcasm. We face a lefty on Tuesday, so Anderson better be in CF.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) I agree, he needs to do it again, but he has to start somewhere. It's nice it's against the Twins. It's also great that we have our best D out there to prevent unearned runs. When you have non-strikeout pitchers, defense is overrated.

QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) More pitching from Mark would be nice. The real question though, is whether Mark has actually improved or is this a one time deal? I don't think we'll be able to tell which Buehrle we'll get the rest of this year. Obviously, I'm just hoping for the best each start out there, but I'm not going 100 pct either way on the Buehrle bandwagon.

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) for those of you who really admire Ron Gardenhire: Twins win today we are 2.5 behind Twins lose today we are .5 behind What does it take to make up the 2 games? Well it takes 2 losses by the Twins and 2 wins by our WS. That is a total of 4 games. If I were Ron G I wouldve definitely had the same starting lineup as yesterday pushed like a mother to take this final game....tomorrow you could rest some guys... He almost always benches Mauer for Redmond against a lefty. Redmond is a great hitter vs LHP, so it makes sense. Also, Ford has had some success against Buehrle in the past, so it's not an awful decision to play him instead of Tyner. Besides that, he has the same team on the field. Ugh....hopefully that doesn't come back to haunt us. Get the bunt down Iguchi!

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) This is what our hitters live for. Flood gates open and everybody plays without pressure. It's like 2001-2004 again. That's fine...thankfully it's happening today. This is an absolutely crucial game in the scheme of things.

I love that swing by Anderson. He's so much less robotic at the plate now.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) It's a 5.10 ERA in August, btw. What's the 8.10 ERA stat they showed before the game? Is that in his last 10 starts or something?

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) Whew! 6IP, 1 ER so far. go Buerhle go! Good thing he didn't show up today.

Game Thread: White Sox vs. Minnesota Twins
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) jinx. I think he said this after the rocket double. By vintage Buehrle, he meant 8.10 ERA in August.

Big batter in this game in Morneau here. He's had some great swings against Buehrle this year.

Taveras has a 30 game hit streak. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) Space time must have just collapsed. To that effect, I'll call Jason to see if he's finally getting some. Nice personal attack.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) That must be a mistake, you can't get Gload out twice in a row. It would have been a homer in Charlotte.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Yep. 2nd in my MVP voting behind JD. Absolutely...did you see where I said that Dye, Crede, and AJP are our 3 most irreplaceable players?

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) It'd be a big help to the Sox if Silva now can remember he sucks balls. I don't think he forgot that...we just kept hitting into double plays when we could have busted the game open.
