  1. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) KW had the right idea standing pat. Terrific job letting these guys work themselves out of a "slump." I think it's funny how the Tigers desperately tried to upgrade in LF, even though Monroe is putting up respectable numbers. Meanwhile, we have an albatross of a LF/leadoff situation, and it's getting worse every week. KW still has 10 days to upgrade.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) Can somebody again tell me why Coop and Jose felt the need to mess around with new arm angles when he was already dominating? If it ain't broke, then fix it.
  3. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) What is that supposed to mean? Long story...in no way what it intended to insult anyone in this current thread though.
  4. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) I just keep telling myself..."just a few more months of pods." And you're a very optimistic, laid-back poster.
  5. The good news is we still have the WC lead for at least another day, no matter what happens tonight! At this point in the season, that brings a smile to my face.
  6. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) He doesn't even use it then. Not lately. I honestly think it's debatable if Pods even has great speed now. He's lost two steps, in my opinion.
  7. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 12:12 AM) Dead-on right. I've seen Juan Pierre cause quite a few mistakes this year just because he busts his ass, and has a reputation for doing so. I've been so impressed with Pierre the last 3 months or so.
  8. QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 12:11 AM) At this time he has no value. Yep, and the sooner KW and Ozzie makes a change, the sooner our offense could add a spark. I don't care if he's an igniter or not, 25-114 since the break with no power and only a handful of steals isn't MLB caliber.
  9. For those not watching, could Pods have beat the play at first if he had more speed?
  10. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 11:54 PM) Does anyone have any figures as to how many times we scored in first inning this year versus last year? That might as well be titled "The Scott Podsednik Impact Stat"
  11. It seems like forever since we last consistently hit the ball hard for more than an inning or two in one game. I had no clue PK only had one homer this month...and that was against Mariano. Ozzie might want to start giving them a day off once a week by inserting Gload into the lineup.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) There was one game a while back when Buerhle got clobbered early, then pitched 4 or 5 innings with about 40 pitches. You know Buerhle is in trouble when he has a real high pitch count, and I would say the same thing for Garland, and with his new style, Garcia. If you're not a guy who is going to get a lot of strikeouts, you can't show everyone 6 pitches. What's strange with all the high pitch counts is that our starters don't K a lot of guys, and they also don't walk a lot of guys.
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 11:47 PM) 25-113 Those are Organic Chemistry test result numbers for me.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) What happened? Check out the threads on the site.
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 11:37 PM) At least we are not Red Sox fans. Where were you today during the "fun"?
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) What a great post. IN game threads, if a player makes a mistake, they comment on it, then do it again. And then again and again and again and again. It is whine, whine, whine, whine over and over and over again. I guess that's why you consider everyone in those game threads to be a bad poster. Are we really going to start an argument though about people repeating things over and over in game threads? I don't think anyone is denying that certain posters repeat their points over and over and over, but it's not just the negative comments that are repeated. I can't watch tonight's game, but I guarantee you that if Mackowiak messes up in CF, there will be plenty of repetitive posts saying Ozzie is an idiot for continuing to put him out there.
  17. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) It would be a complete disaster if a team with this level of talent didn't atleast get to the playoffs. This is the most accurate comment of the day, and it might as well be JR and KW making this comment.
  18. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) I just cant stand that people act like they are entitled to be given a winner. We won the World Series last year, we raised our payroll to 100 million, and we've been healthier than any team this season. Did you really expect fans to not expect us to repeat this year? We live in a town where the Bulls would win the NBA championship at will basically. I'm one of the most pessimistic people on this site, but even I expected us to have better pitching this season. I feel like you're jumping the gun a little though, as I don't see anyone on this site jumping completely off the bandwagon. As you've said, we're still in the playoffs if the season ended today.
  19. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) That stat is inaccurate, maybe you mean when scoring atleast 3 runs or less. But the Sox have won around 17 games when scoring 4 runs or less. Maybe Dick Allen can clarify what the stat is that he always states.
  20. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) The same thing could be said for last years team, they only had 12-13 wins when scoring 2, and only 6-7 more when scoring 3, where as the majority are won when they scored 4+. Meaning last year they won 20 games when they scored 3 runs or less, and approximately 79 games when they scored 4 runs or more. Thus the team last year barely won when they scored less than 4 runs as well. Not many teams in the modern era are going to win games with regularity scoring less than 4 runs. As of a few weeks ago, we only had like 5 wins this year when scoring 4 runs or less (Dick Allen references this stat often). Going from 20 wins one year to about 10 wins this year is a pretty significant decrease.
  21. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) Its not accepting failure. Its the fact you dont have to whine, b****, and moan when the team has a winning record and if the season ended today would be in the playoffs. Also its sickening to hear the words "underachieving" being thrown around at a team with the 4th best record. I dont believe anyone is saying give them a 10 year pass, I believe they are saying: Hey most of these guys brought us home a championship. The team is not going to change over the last 2 months, so we might as well support the Sox, instead of whining constantly. I have no problem saying that players like Garcia, Buehrle, Vazquez, Podsednik, and Cotts are underachieving this season. Most of these guys are paid a lot of money, and it doesn't make you a bad fan to point out that they're not playing up to their potential.
  22. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) You must have watched a different team last year then me, according to what I saw and the stats, the White Sox never have won many games when only scoring 2 runs. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/2005_sched.shtml I counted fast but it only happened like 12-13 times, the other 70+ wins occurred when atleast 3 runs were scored. Not really "sending it to cooperstown" when 2 runs are scored. I said a 2 run lead, and not 2 runs for the entire game. If you read my post, I said we rarely win this year if we don't score at least 4 runs.
  23. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) The Tigers would have to do a lot more than fade for them to not atleast get the WC. More like collapse. Not really. Considering how well the Twins are playing, if the Sox end up passing the Tigers, there's a very good chance the Twins would pass them also. It's too bad the Twins and Tigers don't play 10 times the rest of this year.
