Big inning here for Contreras. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:28 AM) feels like I'm just waiting around to watch minny score again and put the nail in the coffin. I hate feeling like this. I have a feeling there's 25 people in the 3rd base dugout who fear the same thing.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:27 AM) Baseball's best offense right thurr. Yes. Sorry, it should have read...the rest of the year. Does he already have a hit against them so far this season? QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:27 AM) Didn't he already get sawed off and have one against Johan in the first game? See my post below yours.

Here's a fun game to play....will Anderson get a hit against Liriano or Santana this entire year?
-
Sandy with a couple of rockets so far.
-
Mauer is so tall, he has a higher target than a lot of other catchers. I've noticed quite a few times how the Twins pitchers seem to get the high strike more than others.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:19 AM) I thought it was a nice move by Guillen to remind the umpire the strike zone should be the same no matter who's pitching. Hawk and DJ are right, the zone has been slightly different for Santana vs. Contreras. IMO. The only time I believe a manager should get ejected is when he feels the zone is unfair, and the sooner he goes out there, the better. The last thing you want to do is have it get in our hitters head. In no way is this blaming Sandy, but he's been struggling with righties up framing pitches so far. That's not surprising, as Contreras has such a funky delivery.

Freddy Garcia vs Bedard? Ugh

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:16 AM) Crede hit the spiff out of that ball. So again, lets take the fastballs, then swing at the crap that you cant possibly put in play. Nice job. I wonder if they drew this up on the whiteboard that way before the game. Yes, the umps have been bad against the Sox lately. However, you can't keep getting "screwed" by them. If the ump has a big zone, you better protect.

Santana's found a groove with his offspeed pitches now. Great...another game where Hawk's going to go off on the umps the whole game.

PK has officially become Rob Deer since the ASB.

Is it bad that I don't recall seeing this LoJack caught stealing icon all year?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) Okay he just did something that Widger hasnt done. Sandy gramps actually threw out a runner with the Count on the mound. How many times do you see a guy throw out his 2nd runner in two years, and then bat 5th in the next inning? It's destiny I tell you.

HOLY COW! Stop the presses. Good job Sandy.

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) probably not I feel like in april the hit he got off of santana led to one of our two runs I might be wrong though You are. IIRC, it was Iguchi with a lead off single, and then Thome homered.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:04 AM) I don't think Contreras is losing focus at all. Actually, I think he's our best pitcher at that. Losing focus on here seems to equal giving up runs, so that would be true.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:03 AM) When we figure out that the home runs derby is over, and our line drive swings show back up, thats when we will start to string hits together. Thankfully, we face Bedard this weekend. Damn food poisoning! We weren't going to face him, but now we will.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) I would say that his O + D > Macks O + D I would agree, but I was just wondering today if he's actually helped us offensively win a game since the first game of the year.
-
QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) but with Santana pitching its more understandable I can't wait to hear this another 6 times this year when we face Santana/Liriano.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) I suppose it is a little much to ask. But last night just got me thinking that BA hits 'all' of his HR in the ninth inning. Just kinda strange. I have a very honest question, and it's not meant to bash Anderson......has his offense contributed to any wins this season since the first game of the year?

This team can't get a single with 2 outs and a RISP to save its life.

Welcome back Pablo!

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) Ever since Mr count has come back from the DL, he is pretty much sidearm only. What happened to going over the top. He is leaving a lot of his fastballs up and over the plate. I went back and watched some of his best games from last year. In those games, he would throw fastball after fastball on the inside corner to righties. Hitters had no chance at the 95 mph fastball, and they'd hit weak grounders to the left side. If he got two strikes, he'd almost always throw at least one forkball. I think he's lost 2 mph on his fastball this year (what else is new).

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) I like going to right with pitchers like Johan who have a great change. If you think right you still have a shot at putting the change in play. If you look for the pull, if you make contact with the change you will foul it off. Its not for every single type of pitcher. Its for soft tossing lefties, soft tossing righties who are going away only, and for Johan with the plus change. When you face Santana, sitting on his change isn't the best option. It's so good, you can look for it, and still not hit it. Also, he doesn't throw his changeup on the outside corner as much as a lot of other lefties. I think the best way to hit Santana is swing hard in case you hit it.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) We've been seeing that a lot haven't we. They never just go with the pitch to right. Overswing on everything when they have a tough one on the mound. Going to right isn't always the option. The most disturbing thing about the offense the last few weeks is the lack of hard hit balls by our offense.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) Not quite. We don't beat the bad teams as well as they did, but we were much better going up against the good teams. Our pitching staff also RARELY got us in a big hole last year. There were very few games where we were down by more than 4 or 5 runs.
