  1. QUOTE(Dan @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:22 AM) im glad i started Oswalt for Fantasy today Fathom's pet peeve #1 was just violated.
  2. Vazquez has been our best pitcher against the Indians so far. He's just not fooling a lot of batters right now, and his WHIP/ERA is flying up.
  3. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:15 AM) So what exactly is Don Cooper doing that is so amazing? Vazquez is as s***ty this year as he has been in the last 5 years. He's not amazing. However, I give him credit for helping Thornton this year. Vazquez has done a much better job keeping the ball in the park this season, but as it gets hotter out, he's going to really have to start folling hitters better.
  4. I wouldn't put it past Oswalt/Garner to throw at a Sox hitter in the next few innings.
  5. QUOTE(Dan @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:13 AM) awww forget Javy, lets just get back Scott Schoenweis Well....thankfully, we didn't have a potential 5th starter in sight coming into this season. :banghead
  6. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:12 AM) Javy is a pretty decent 5th starter. But not against Oswald I don't think KW gave up as much as he did in order to bring in a high-priced 5th starter.
  7. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:09 AM) What a f***ing joke of a pitching performance tonight, all around. Montero, how the hell do you get to stay here over Tracey?? How did Montero pitch in the 8th inning against the Tigers in a one run game?
  8. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:08 AM) Fire a guy who won the oranization's first title in 88 years? I dunno... I think KW and Ozzie just need to talk about everything and clear some air. No, what I'm saying is that if this poster was right, and Ozzie's going to act depressed, then I don't want him in the f***ing dugout. I'm sure Ozzie is fine though, so I think the depressed comment was inaccurate.
  9. If Montero was smart, he'd try to get placed on the DL. That way, he can stay on the MLB roster when Politte is brought back.
  10. QUOTE(Dan @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:04 AM) its a shame because his slider is slidin tonight. he just chose bad pitches to give Berkman and Lamb. otherwise, he did great. Is this Ozzie? I must have been watching a different game, but he was pretty crappy even besides those two homers. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:04 AM) Anyone else noticing that Ozzie looks depressed on the dugout tonite? Unfortanatley it appears to be rubbing off on the team as they also seem out of it tonite. Oh well at least we finally reached that 9 game winning streak. I hope Ozzie doesn't act this way the rest of the season. We need that guy who cheers his guy on, smiles, and yells at the ump when neccessary. We're fine. If Ozzie's going to act depressed in the dugout, then I hope KW fires him tomorrow.
  11. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:03 AM) I disagree. We have 3 starters underperforming; why wouldn't it make sense to acquire another good starter? It won't happen, but not because it makes little sense. Because we have McCarthy waiting for his turn in the bullpen. You should know better than to think Ozzie's going to demote one of his starting pitchers. Vazquez and Garcia could have 20.5 ERAs, and they'd be safe.
  12. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:02 AM) Try anything less than 5-1 against those 2 is disappointing. We face Zambrano this wknd, and I have my doubts about the Sox hitting him well. Also, the Sox don't exactly slaughter the lower-level teams.
  13. How can Vazquez have a chance for a win if he's taken out of the game? Pathetic start by Vazquez tonight.
  14. So, we went 5-1 this week. Excellent week!! Anything less than a 3-3 trip vs the Cubs and Pirates would have to be considered a disappointment.
  15. Oswalt is making Vazquez look like a little leaguer's fastball. 5 ERA, HERE WE COME!
  16. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:56 AM) Jesus. Please sign me up to your baseball newsletter. It's just that it would make no sense for us to get another starter.
  17. Ah, that's more like it by Pods. I don't think we've hit a fastball of Oswalt's hard all night.
  18. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) Ozzie's not giving up his son-in-law's rotation spot, or his Puerto Rican golfing buddy's rotation spot I still cringe at the picture that existed of them standing by a golf cart the day before the trade happened.
  19. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) Ozzie's not giving up his son-in-law's rotation spot, or his Puerto Rican golfing buddy's rotation spot, or the 3yr-$30 M extension guy's spot to a rookie. Only way another starter gets into this rotation is if KW swallows his pride and adds another starter. It's not going to happen, I will guarantee that. If your 50 million dollar starting staff falters, then you don't deserve to make the playoffs.
  20. What's the chances that Mariotti writes a column tomorrow saying how Ozzie's actions have caused a losing streak??!
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:48 AM) He is throwing a 4 seamer that is getting pounded. I havent seen too many 2 seamers. According to Ozzie, Javy is throwing the ball real well. Its the park that plays small. Unless the fence was 410 feet all around, those would have been home runs.
  22. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:46 AM) I said it once and I'll say it again, if we have a shot at acquiring another good starting pitcher then we shouldn't hesitate. Our starting pitching is average, maybe even below average with Jose struggling lately. No way will this happen. We're going to win or die with our current 5 starters.
  23. For people complaining about Vazquez not throwing enough fastballs: First, his fastball is 92 mph, and not what this gun says. Second, his fastball, especially to lefties, is notorious for ending up very deep in the stands. From my perspective, his slider and his change are his out pitches. His fastball and curve get hit very hard.
  24. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:43 AM) Something that you are going to complain about? What do I win? Yep, the Sox are losing. Thus, it's time to attack my posts. I guess I'm the people's punching bag. It's time for our high-priced pitching staff to start pitching like it. Our offense isn't going to keep up its torrid pace all season long.
