Ugh...I just realized that the Twins play Toronto in a 4 game series, and they're not going to have to face Halladay.

QUOTE(BFirebird @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:25 AM) Nothing new. Every hard hit ball has been a high changeup. I've been saying this for 3 years now, but for a sinker ball pitcher, Garland gets hurt far too often with his changeup.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:24 AM) Also, the Yankees really have an idea of what they're doing with the bats. You'd think the Yankees would be the HR-or-nothing team, but that's us. I'm so impressed with the Yankees. They definitely go about offense the right way. IF, and I know it's a big if, they get Matsui and Sheffield back healthy, I think they're going to win the WS.

Another changeup hit hard.

QUOTE(BFirebird @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) He has been on FIRE. Morneau is a monster. If he keeps this type of development up, him and Mauer are going to be an amazing 3-4 hitters for the next 10 years. Also, if you want to know why the Twins are rolling, look no farther than their 1-2 hitters right now. Those guys have been getting on base at tremendous rates lately.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:20 AM) Give me a break. Half of Johnsons sliders are hanging and his fastball is as straight as Garcias. There's a reason he's posting the numbers he is this season. Maybe this will force KW to actually try and upgrade the 4th outfield position. Hell, I'd rather just throw Gload out there, and hope that he can provide some offense. None of the three can play any defense.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:16 AM) I love when we make struggling pitchers look dominating. This is not a good lineup we have to face him tonight.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:14 AM) That's why the Tigers have been so successful this year (besides good pitching)...their lower half of the order has really come through for them. And they consistently beat the best pitchers in baseball.

Great pitch sequence there.

That 0-2 pitch looked like a strike.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:04 AM) He's truly on his way to becoming a big liability out there. I honestly think that our starters ERA would be significantly better if we saw better range by our corner outfielders (and Rob when he's in center).

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) We're...uh...we're not good at building on momentum. How many times this year have we said, "that win is going to spark the team," or something like that? At least the infield defense showed up today.

I'm going to cry...I turned on the Cubs game to see Brady Clark bat (the guy we all want for LF/CF). On the first pitch I see, he hits a bomb off of Zambrano. At least it was against the Cubs. QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) Buck Martinez isn't the most pleasant voice to listen to...but he's pretty knowledgable and relays good info. The problem is it's not always true.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:45 AM) Well, with AJ on deck, I don't think its that dumb, but yes, Congrats! I agree, it's a smart decision. Randy is the best lefty pitcher against lefty hitters I've seen in my lifetime. I don't care if Sandy is Buehrle's personal catcher, he should have been playing tonight also.

I never thought I'd see the day where Randy Johnson pitches around Joe Crede. Congrats Joe!

Game Thread 8/9/06
It's going to be a long game if we can't capitalize on Johnson's hanging sliders. From what I've seen of him this year, he'll hang about one out of every three sliders he throws.

Lets go PK, Dye, and Crede. It's on you guys tonight to get some runs produced.
-
Game Thread 8/9/06
Another tremendous play by Crede.

Their team speed is just killing us so far. We seem to give up a lot of doubles on plays like that because our LF are playing on the warning track.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) Yeah... its too bad we don't have any other "leadoff" hitters though. Mackowiak should get a start at the top and in LF. I would have no objections to that. Flat on both sides to start.... Come on Jon, 1-2-3. Actually, we should have acquired a 4th outfielder who's righty and can play solid defense. I'll be stunned if we get any production from our 1-2-3 hitters tonight.

Ozuna is 2 for his last 30. Stay hot 1-2 hitters.
